The Vehicle Routing Problem considers the design of sets of minimal cost routes, from an originated point knowned as deposit to an ended point. In this problematic situation, a key element in delivery systems is the sequencing of transport units, determined by the requirement of customers. The aim of this article is to present a new method of solving the problem of allocation of routing companies with the need to distribute products, through new models that use different algorithms. The model designed from the analysis of a set of metaheuristics, develop viable options to solve the daily problem of how to allocate and distribute products, from the company to customers, with efficiently and effectively ways.

Estimation formulas have been established for the establishment of body surface area (BSA), using live weight (LW) and body length for calculation. The objective of this work was to compare four estimation formulas of the BSA – Mitchell [0.09 × LW0.69], Brody [0.14 × LW0.57], Johnson et al. [0.235 × LW0.49], Moulton [0.158 × LW5/8] and Hogan and Skouby [LW0.4 × (body length)0.6 × 217] – and three non-linear models – logistic [–y=a/(1 + be-cx)], Gompertz [y=a*exp(b*exp(cx))] and von Bertalanffy [y=a(1-be-cx)] – in terms of their ability to describe the growth of BSA in beef cattle and to detect the best estimator. Fifty-three meat cattle (20 males and 33 females) were used, mostly “Bruna dels Pirineus” and their crosses, with ages between 205 and 407 days, estimated live weight of 543±74 kg, which were slaughtered in a commercial abattoir. After the skinning, a photog...

The objective of the work was to develop a mathematical model to analyze the behavior of mortality in the People’s Republic of China caused by COVID-2019. The logistic model was applied to the data reported in Table 1, between January 11 and April 12, 2020. The model formulated was linearized and presented in two forms, which, with the same value of B, introducing a correction factor for the independent variable, t, which serves as “period” and applying the method of minimum squares, the parameters A, k and r were determined, obtaining the respective model (Equation 10), which was analyzed with Pearson’s correlation coefficient, obtaining the correlation coefficient r=-0.9668 and the determination coefficient r^2×100=93.48 %; deducing the best estimate of the model to the process in modeling (Equation 10) to analyze the mortality phenomenon. Likewise, the mortality rate was eval...

In this work, we try to find factors that determine the export continuity of Peruvian apparel exporters. Logistic regression has been used because it gives several advantages over other methods where the outcome variable is dichotomous or continuous with few values. Logit model exhibits significant interactions which have been deeply analyzed. Likewise, it was possible an exhaustive residual and goodness-of-fit analysis. Finally, we could validate the model for forecast of export continuity in 2006.

Logistics is an area that determines, in many cases, the prosperity of a company. Regardless of its size, the search for new tools, procedures and management techniques has increased in recent years. In the mining sector, the 49,9% of companies do not have an inventory control mechanism; therefore, a low turnover of this. This can be for three reasons: inefficient purchasing policy, inadequate demand planning, and inadequate storage method. For this reason, a model conformed by the following tools was developed: ABC classification, JIT, MRP, and inventory management. Likewise, the Arena Software was used in an SMEs that imported drill bits for the mining industry to validate the described model. The results were a 62% improvement over the purchasing policy, a 73% decrease in cycle time, and only the use of one worker for theimport process, allowing the other worker to be in another area....

The main objective of this research article is to optimize costs and logistic KPIs applying an economic order quantity (EOQ) inventory model in a metal-mechanic MSE with intermittent demand. Firstly, the forecast model with the lowest MAD and ECM is selected. The object under study, after ABC classification, belongs to the family of products located in class A due to its valuation and participation in the inventory. The Croston method is considered the most effective forecast model. Secondly, an aggregate planning is developed to satisfy the projection. Then, the EOQ or Wilson model is implemented to reduce inventory costs. Finally, to validate the calculated data, a simulation model is built in Arena with 50 replications. As a result, the inventory costs were reduced to 22.6%.
