This paper explains the main theses of functionalism about mental states. This view is taken as a response addressed to the metaphysical aspect of the mind-body problem. Thus it is said what distinguishes functional properties as second-order properties, and how to understand supervenience and multiple realizability. The paper applies these ideas to machine functionalism and analytic functionalism, the two main versions of functionalism.

In this paper we analyze contextual and stylistically a set of finely decorated gourds, from the collection of gourds Huallamarca recovered in excavations directed by Dr. Jiménez Borja at huaca Pan de Azúcar in 1958. The gourds have studied simple and naturalistic images that refer to a secular field, agricultural and coastal. The large number of decorated gourds in a context of elite tombs, makes us think of a function, which would go beyond the strictly utilitarian. Piles of pumpkins decorated as large plates, carefully stored inside packages would imply at least that the holder would have a household could face a public activity. Reciprocity as a social, political and economic, would be supported in funerary context quality and new symbols of power that characterize the large coastal chiefs and gentlemen of the initial part of the Late Intermediate Period of the Central Coast.

The objective of this research study was to determine the relationship between the motivation of achievement and the resolution of problems with linear functions of the students of Foundations of Calculus for the afternoon course of the Faculty of Business at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, 2017. This study was developed within a quantitative approach, with a hypothetical deductive method and non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 76 students of Foundations of Calculus from the Faculty of Business of the aforementioned university. The results show that there is no direct and significant relationship between the motivation of achievement and the resolution of problems with linear functions of the students surveyed. This further showed that the competency to solve problems does not depend on motivation, but rather requires knowledge and skills that are put into pract...

OBJECTIVE. To determine the association between body composition and frailty syndrome in elderly people without functional impairment. METHODS. A cross sectional comparative study was made of a sample of 37 frail and 68 non-frail older adults according to the Fried's diagnostic criteria in an urban community of Lima, who underwent anthropometric and bioelectrical impedance measurements. Chi-square test, ANOVA test and Pearson's correlation test was done to predict frailty probability. RESULTS. Significant lower values in weight, height, body mass index, brachial perimeter, subcutaneous skin-fold, muscular arm circumference, fat mass and fat-free mass were found in frail older adults (p = 0,005). There was no correlate between frailty syndrome and fat mass measured by electric impedance and with muscle mass measured by anthropometry. We found a 9 % increased risk per kilogram of less weig...

The rationale of this paper is to report by presenting data on the direct recognition of the canal that supplied water for over three hundred years to the city of Wari, from investigations with excavations in several sections of the channel, as a reference for qochas work, canals, reservoirs supplying the metropolis Wari (Perez 2006, 2007 and 2010) and as part of the hydrologic and hydraulic study of inca canal Wari Wari Yarccan or Yarcca in Ayacucho (Chavarría 2010). We believe that this is a great proyec for social and economic infraestructure that the Wari state executed in the Andes during the second half of the first millennium od the present Christian era, about 800 yerars before formation of the Empire of Tawantinsuyo.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a widely used material in container manufacturing, particularly in bottle production. It is characterized by its low cost and widespread availability. However, its improper disposal has significantly exacerbated global plastic pollution. For instance, less than 50% of plastic bottles are recycled. Moreover, studies indicate that this issue has led to a significant accumulation of plastic waste in the oceans, which continues to grow annually and could be considered floating islands of debris. This study proposes replacing PET with polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer with suitable properties for bottle production. PLA also has a shorter decomposition time compared to PET, contributing to the reduction of carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. The research methodology included a diagnostic phase to define objectives, i...

Objective: Standarization of a Peruvian version for the functional incapacity Index of the Health Assessment Questionaire (HAQ). Material and Methods: Forty one patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, from 3 different Hospitals of Lima, were evaluated. All of them underwent HAQ, previously translated to a Spanish Peruvian version. Then we compared the results by direct observation, done by a blind researcher, of 12 activities. Statistical analysis: The coefficient of correlation of Pearson was applied. Results: The mean of the HAQ was 0.50 (scale 0-3) range 0.00-1.87, of observed incapacity was 0.45 (0.00 - 1.58) (r0.86, p<0.0001). Conclusion: There is a good correlation between referred and observed functional incapacity. With some modifications the Functional Incapacity Index of the Peruvian version of the HAQ should be applied to more Peruvian patients with with RA, for a long-term, fo...

This paper discusses the changes to the rulemaking process performed by the National Health Authority (ANS) during a decade, as an expression of the exercise of its health-related regulatory function. Before the implementation of said changes, the initiative for rulemaking was freely taken by the proposing entities. This situation led to an increased risk of mistakes, and the lack of a standardized methodology and an organized structure of the Regulatory Documents (DN) to be approved by the Ministry of Health. As a result, the National Health Authority decided to organize and standardize the process, in order to reduce the risk of mistakes during such rulemaking process. Based on the revision of the health-related rulemaking performed by the Ministry of Health for the period 2006 - 2015, which was published on the Legal Standards supplement of El Peruano official gazette, the legal stand...

In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and explanatory design was employed. The sample consisted of 96 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old from the state of Puebla, Mexico. A total of 10.41% of participants presented severe symptoms of generalized anxiety. A significant relationship was found between anxiety and one o...

In order to determine whether family functioning predicts the level of resilience in parents facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, a predictive and cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 183 parents from the department of La Libertad, who were selected under a non-probabilistic purposive sampling. Two instruments were used to collect data: Cohesion and Family Adaptability Evaluation Scale (CESF) and the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRC). Based on a linear regression analysis, an adequate model fit is observed (F-test = 35.924, p < .001), where, family functioning (β = .407, p < .05) is a variable that significantly predicts resilience (adjusted R2 = .161). Also, the t-values of the beta regression coefficients of the predictor variable are highly significant (p < .01). In conclusion, the level of family functioning predicts the degree of resilient coping in p...
