Geo-referenced textual data has been the subject of multiple investigations, by providing opportunities to better understand certain phenomena according to the content that is shared, either on-line such as social networks, blogs, and news; or through repositories such as scientific research articles, geo-referenced virtual books, among others. However, the characteristics of this information are studied, analyzed and processed separately, either through its textual components or its geo-spatial components, which offers a separate understanding of the results. In this paper, we propose an integration of textual and geo-spatial components from the pre-processing phase to the visualization stage, As a part of the Document Mapping process based on the phases of the Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD). Achieving two main results (1) minimize the problems that arise in the visual phase, su...

This work proposes a computational algorithm which extracts the frequency, timings and signal segments corresponding to respiratory phases, through buccal and nasal acoustic signal processing. The proposal offers a computational solution for medical applications which require on-site or remote patient monitoring and evaluation of pulmonary pathologies, such as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The state of the art presents a few respiratory evaluation proposals through buccal and nasal acoustic signals. Most proposals focus on respiratory signals acquired by a medical professional, using stethoscopes and electrodes located on the thorax. In this case the signal acquisition process is carried out through the use of a low cost and easy to use mask, which is equipped with strategically positioned and connected electret microphones, to maximize the proposed algorithm's performance. The al...

When breast cancer is detected and treated early, the chances of survival are very high. However, women in many settings face complex barriers to early detection, including social, economic, geographic, and other interrelated factors, which can limit their access to timely, affordable, and effective breast health care services. Previously, the Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI) developed resource-stratified guidelines for the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. In this consensus article from the sixth BHGI Global Summit held in October 2018, the authors describe phases of early detection program development, beginning with management strategies required for the diagnosis of clinically detectable disease based on awareness education and technical training, history and physical examination, and accurate tissue diagnosis. The core issues address include finance and governanc...

The Huaytará-Tantará belt extends along the western flank of the Western Cordillera of the Andes of central Peru. It contains Au-Ag (Pb-Zn-Cu) mineralizations hosted by volcanic sequences from Eocene to Miocene. It is affected by at least six phases of deformation, defined through structural analysis in four work stations: Antapite, Jatun Orcco, Pampa Andino and Castrovirreyna. The diagrams of lead evolution of 17 samples extracted of the three first, indicate hydrothermal processes independent, with a lead evolution similar in Pampa Andino and Jatun Orcco, but different to Antapite. Also, in Antapite the source of radiogenic lead proceed of an orogenic area, with prevalence both the upper crust and the lower crust, contrary to the others zones, that only show influence of the upper crust. Then it is considered that the magmatism of Antapite was deeper and that its fluids had more poss...

Errors in the clinical laboratory are very frequent, most of which are mostly during the pre-analytical phase. That is why this research work proposes the identification of pre-analytical errors in the external office area of the Dos de Mayo National Hospital. To do this, a form was applied, filled out by the researcher at the time of supervision of the sampling. The instrument was validated by the joint recommendations of the EFLM-COLABIOCLI (European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine) and the Latin American Working Group of the Pre-Analytical Phase (WG-PRE-LATAM) of the Latin American Confederation of Clinical Biochemistry. It was obtained as a result, among the most outstanding, that more than 90% of the patient was not recommended to rest for 5 minutes at the end of the phlebotomy, 80% did not register the identity of the phlebotomist in the request for examina...

This dissertation investigates the potential improvement of volcanic eruption understanding and forecasting methods by using advanced data processing techniques to analyze large datasets at three target volcanoes (Piton de la Fournaise (PdlF) (France), Sabancaya, and Ubinas (Peru)). The central objective of this study is to search for possible empirical relationships between the pre-eruptive behavior of the accelerated increase in seismic activity using the Failure Forecast Method (FFM) and velocity variations measured by Coda Wave Interferometry (CWI), since both observations are reported to be independently associated with medium damage. The FFM is a deterministic method used to forecast volcanic eruptions using an empirical relationship of increased and accelerated evolution of an observable (e.g., volcano-seismic event rates). The event rates used with FFM in this study were generate...

Environmental pollution caused by human activities is a global concern, and recycling is an effective strategy to reduce waste and minimize its negative impact on the environment, as these pollutants can have detrimental impact on ecosystems, human health, and the quality of life in general. Recycling avoids the accumulation of waste in landfills, which can contami-nate soil, water, and air as well as reducing the production of new products. The objective of this work is to implement a mobile application to improve waste management by recycling companies. The Mobile-D methodology was used for the development of the project because it focuses on optimizing the efficiency and performance of mobile applications since it allows working in 5 phases which are: Exploration, Initialization, Production, Stabilization and Testing. In the first indicator (KPI-1), an improvement in customer retentio...

Within the supply chain, every stage of the logistics process plays a vital role—from the start of production to the delivery of the product to the final customer. However, storage management stands out as one of the most critical phases. Inadequate storage practices or poor SKU control can result in substantial financial losses for a company. This scientific article presents a diagnostic analysis of a logistics operator specializing in the distribution and storage of pharmaceutical products. During the evaluation, several weaknesses were identified in the reception and order picking processes. As a result, various tools were implemented to enhance operational efficiency. The study explored key questions such as: What are the determining factors for selecting a logistics process systematization model? And what are the implications and effects of its implementation? The chosen tools inc...

As processes become more complex, measuring them using key KPI indicators, such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), is essential. This study analyses the OEE of the cardboard box production process-the product with the highest annual revenue in a Peruvian printing company. The current OEE is 64.27%, which falls short of the graphic industry standard (72.5%). Increasing the OEE would provide several benefits, such as higher availability, improved product quality, reduced setup times, and lower machine wear. Therefore, an innovative solution model is proposed that will use SMED and TPM tools, as well as Automation and IoT technologies. These Lean tools will be enhanced through the mentioned technologies. The solution model will follow the PMBOK approach due to its significant contributions to project management and will consist of three phases: initial, implementation, and closure. I...

Traditional construction and property companies often find themselves bound by conventional project management and design techniques, which can lead to delays during the design phase. This situation needs to be avoided. This study presents a process optimization for the design stage of multifamily buildings using Virtual Design Construction (VDC) - a collaborative project management approach. Focused on a case study involving two residential buildings developed by the same property company in Lima, Peru, this research commences with a comprehensive analysis of the existing design processes from the projects. By pinpointing key sources of variability and streamlining the design flow, the proposed VDC implementation aims to enhance compliance with project timelines and the approval of design drawings. The optimized process yielded tangible results, significantly reducing design time, compl...

Polyribosyl-ribitol-phosphate (PRP) from Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is an active immunizing molecule used in the production of the vaccine against H. influenzae, and industrial production could contribute to satisfying a world demand especially in developing countries. In this sense, the aim of this study was to establish a scale-up process using the constant oxygen mass transfer coefficient (kLa) such as the criterion for production of PRP in three different sizes of bioreactor systems. Three different kLa values (24, 52 and 80 h−1) were evaluated in which the biological influence in a 1.5 L bioreactor and 52 h−1 was selected to scale-up the production process until a 75 L pilot-scale bioreactor was achieved. Finally, the fed-batch phase was started under a dissolved oxygen concentration (pO2) at 30% of the saturation in the 75 L bioreactor to avoid oxygen limitation; the p...
