Objectives: To understand the socio-subjective appreciation of patients regarding the family impact during their tuberculosis treatment in a primary care facility. Materials and methods: The population was made up of 12 people who are undergoing antituberculous treatment in a first-level care facility in northern Lima. The technique used was focus group and the instrument used was a semi-structured interview based on the objectives and research categories. Results: 10 heads of household were interviewed, average age 37.5 years, most of them men. The family typology was mostly extensive and nuclear. In the economic risk category, they expressed that the disease generated abandonment of their work and in other episodes of discrimination. In the biological risk category, they perceive the risk of contagion in the family environment as high, showing fear of contagion from their relatives, wi...

OBJECTIVES: This paper aims to determine the relationship between the characterization of Total Family Risk and Family Type in a slum population in northern Lima. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The method used was quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional design. The population was 540 families consisted of 540 families. Data-collection was given between the second semester of 2014 and 2015 involving nursing students. Started an interview with the head of the family. The instrument used was Questionnaire RFT 5:33, which was adapted and validated to our reality. RESULTS: Globally, most families are within the vulnerable class (52.4%), vulnerable families are predominantly in the “social economic situation” and “child management” dimensions. In the family type 1, vulnerable families predominate in the dimensions “socio economic situation” and “child management, while in the famil...

INTRODUCTION: The practice of care has existed since time began. Its origin is related to the necessity of survival in which was developed life of the first humans, also it’s related to maternal interventions that assured the life and specie continuity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Through the technique of bibliographical review, it was made an exhaustive analysis of the selected sample that involves, as whole, the historical evolution of people, families, communities (including its groups) health care. DEVELOPMENT: According to Francoise Colliere, french theorist, take care means “to move human abilities of the human being in sickness or health state, considering its customs, to accomplish the growth and development from birth until death. It also demands the caregiver to develop many abilities of perception, comprehension, just like ingenuity, inventiveness and creativity.” According t...

It's well known that the duration of the engineering programs in Latin American countries like Peru are of order of 5 years, roughly. Commonly, the target of the fifth year of program is to carry out activities of thesis and capstone projects. Clearly these activities would demand that the student can exhibit skills and a certain level of maturity which might be crucial for a successful completion of the projects. However, the expected performance of the students might be correlated to the educational features of the institution (university, technological institute, etc) to some extent. In this manner, in this paper we try to measure the quality of education (QoE) of a Peruvian engineering program through the application of a mathematical methodology based on the individual score of students along the time where the projects take place. Furthermore, the error of the model is interpreted ...

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is not only having a negative impact on individuals’ physical health, but also on their mental health. Particularly, people living in disadvantaged communities in the developing world have been hit the hardest by the pandemic. They live precariously and are more vulnerable to mental health issues. Objective: In this study, we have evaluated COVID-19-related anxiety and fear and the predictors associated with them among shantytown dwellers in the Peruvian capital. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study in which 816 shantytown dwellers participated. Anxiety and fear of the virus were assessed using the Corona Anxiety Scale (CAS) and the Fear of COVID-19 Scale. Also, sociodemographic data were collected. Results: Stable and occasional workers were more likely to show the anxiety about the virus, whereas older adults presented higher levels of fear of CO...

Errors in the clinical laboratory are very frequent, most of which are mostly during the pre-analytical phase. That is why this research work proposes the identification of pre-analytical errors in the external office area of the Dos de Mayo National Hospital. To do this, a form was applied, filled out by the researcher at the time of supervision of the sampling. The instrument was validated by the joint recommendations of the EFLM-COLABIOCLI (European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine) and the Latin American Working Group of the Pre-Analytical Phase (WG-PRE-LATAM) of the Latin American Confederation of Clinical Biochemistry. It was obtained as a result, among the most outstanding, that more than 90% of the patient was not recommended to rest for 5 minutes at the end of the phlebotomy, 80% did not register the identity of the phlebotomist in the request for examina...

In late December 2019, COVID-19 changed people's lives by forcing people to maintain social distancing and wear a face mask on a mandatory basis, because the virus caused by SARS-COV-2 is immensely contagious and can be easily transmitted between people who have direct contact. In the month of May, the virus infected more than 153 million people saturating the health system worldwide, therefore, it was established as a preventive measure to maintain social distancing in public places and use the face mask in a mandatory way to help control COVID-19, since through these measures the probability of contagion is greatly reduced since it protects the nose and the person's mouth. In view of this problem, this article made the approach of a system of administration of face masks for the control of supplies of medical personnel in the private sector, in such a way that the system analyzes sever...

In this paper we present a case study emphasizing the proposal of a telecare system which might be implemented in the first attention level belonging to health centers of Periurban zones of Lima city. Concretely, the system relies entirely in an algorithm which is based on a mathematical scheme that models the behavior of the glucose in type 2 diabetes patients under episodes of binge eating disorder. The model assumes that the patient follows a pharmacological prescription of metformin. The testing of the model is through the usage of computational simulation based on the Monte Carlo method. Thus, the efficiency of telecare system running in the first attention level is estimated to be of order of 75% roughly. According to our results, 1 of 3 patients might surpass the events of binge eating disorder and delay diabetes progress in a consistent manner.

We present a scheme of eHealth based on teleconsults aimed to reduce unexpected events and complications in type-2 diabetes mellitus (DM-II). To this end, this study has considered the history of glucose tests taken as input inside a predictive mathematical scheme based on probabilities. The resulting output goes to a real-time monitoring system in order to detect and update those cases where patients would require of rapid assistance. The simulations have shown that the opportune intervention of teleconsults might be effective in the sense of monitoring diet and drug-based treatment by employing simple mobile phones and minimal software applications. For example, the case of a critic patient with a rapid increasing of glucose above 200 mg/dL, the opportune intervention of teleconsults might reduce these values by a 50% during a time of 20±2 days. It can also be traduced as the improvem...
