Eco-innovation is the innovation of products that focuses on the use of renewable energy and meets specific environmental requirements, and is essential for energy conservation and environmental protection. There are recommendations and strategies available for general product development, but there are limited studies when focusing on renewable energy products. A proposal for eco-innovation in renewable energy is developed based on exergy analysis, TRIZ methodology, and knowledge management. The model is demonstrated with a specific case study. This study contributes to the analysis and development of products with renewable energy that help mitigate climate change, consistent with the change in the energy matrix. Furthermore, this study is a transdisciplinary effort that integrates concepts from different topics to achieve a comprehensive model.

Style transfer is a natural language processing generation task, it consists of substituting one given writing style for another one. In this work, we seek to perform informal-to-formal style transfers in the English language by using a style transfer model that takes advantage of the GPT-2. This process is shown in our web interface where the user input a informal message by text or voice. Our target audience are students and professionals in the need to improve the quality of their work by formalizing their texts. A style transfer is considered successful when the original semantic meaning of the message is preserved after the independent style has been replaced with a formal one with a high degree of grammatical correctness. This task is hindered by the scarcity of training and evaluation datasets alongside the lack of metrics. To accomplish this task, we opted to utilize OpenAI’s G...

Given the need to deepen the dynamics in the generation of new knowledge, with respect to renewable energies, in particular around hybrid photovoltaic systems, this study analyzes the research developed, through the “Literature Based Discovery” - LBD. A research chain is developed to capture emerging and other innovative or exploratory aspects. The steps followed have as a priority to generate the extraction and automated search, from the key- words, to group the results looking for their references, in addition to locating research on these semantic terms, concepts and the relationship between them through text mining. The results generate a grouping of topics based on the keywords, which were linked by LBD, these identify dependencies between various analyzes, concluding that LBD techniques generate correlations that are not explicitly seen, so it is necessary to carry out addition...

The construction industry is one of Peru's most relevant investment and production sectors, as it contributes to the economy and helps generate jobs and rent for the population. However, statistical research shows that 50.1% of the entire industrial sector reports not storing their materials. The remaining percentage do not use inventory management techniques, resulting in a great shortage of materials in their production. These incidents cause companies in the construction sector to generate delays in the completion of the works, preventing them from meeting the projected demand and causing severe economic losses for the companies. In this sense, to address the problem posed, a solution model was developed with lean tools: standardization of work, adjusted forecasting of demand, inventory management, approval, and homologation of suppliers. It is worth mentioning that the company under ...

The construction sector in Peru is growing and is one of the most important, representing 19% of GDP. However, currently, in the construction industry, there is a high rate of non-contributory time, that is, the activities carried out during the construction process have a large percentage of time dedicated to activities that do not add value and lead to losses. This research attempts to reduce the high rate of non-contributory time (NCT) in building maintenance services in a Peruvian company in the construction sector. To achieve this, a conceptual model at the managerial level based on Lean tools such as Kanban, 5S, TPM was proposed.

The continuous growth of the food industry has consequently brought the need for equipment, parts, and pieces to meet the local market demand. One of these parts has a higher demand in the market, which are the screw conveyors of stainless steel 304; these are one of the components that have greater use of hours machines. For this reason, it is required to plan maintenance and repairs in the industry of reference. This article is focused on identifying the most important failure reasons in the agribusiness supply industry; it was identified that the processes of greatest opportunity measure and assembly. These processes increase the delivery time of the final product, which failures should not increase because providing the product outside the agreed time causes high financial impact as penalties and loss of customers. The company manufactures various parts for industrial mills and has a...

Warehouse management systems (WMS) have become increasingly important for distribution companies in recent years. WMS can help companies improve their warehouse performance by optimizing the picking and storage processes, reducing errors, and improving communication. A study investigated the use of WMS to improve the performance of a distribution company in Lima, Peru. The company was experiencing problems with picking and document assignment, which led to a low indicator of perfect deliveries. The study found that the root causes of these problems were inadequate product marking, errors in the storage process, errors in the distribution of documents, and inadequate control in the verifications. The study proposed a model for improving the performance of the company's warehouse based on the use of WMS tools and measured by reference to the SCOR model. This model would use SLP tools, IoT,...

The food industry stands as a pivotal contributor to economic and efficient production in contemporary societies. In recent years, Peru has witnessed a notable upswing in the industrial food sector, characterized by the automation of production processes and the consequential shift from manual labor to machinery. Despite these advancements, a pervasive challenge persists – the suboptimal availability of critical machinery due to various failures, leading to operational disruptions and additional costs. This challenge is empirically examined through a case study measuring machinery availability via MTBF and MTTR indicators, revealing suboptimal values according to "World Class" benchmarks, as reflected in the efficiency value measured by the OEE indicator. In response to these findings, a practical and economically viable model adapted to the unique needs of the food sector is proposed....

This study addresses rising sustainability demands in the agro-industry by examining how data-driven approaches can reduce inefficiencies, waste, and poor resource use in spinach production. It investigates the impact of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), First-In–First-Out (FIFO), process standardization, and circular economy practices—enhanced through digital transformation—on operational efficiency in a Peruvian agro-industrial firm. An exploratory case study was conducted using pilot implementations, direct observation, and quantitative analysis. Statistical tools, including Holt–Winters forecasting, were applied to assess the effectiveness of the interventions. Digital technologies supported data collection, traceability, and decision-making. An exploratory case study was conducted using pilot implementations, direct observation, and quantitative analysis. The integration o...

The construction industry has long been suffering from high rates of non-contributory time. Construction processes are likely to include time, which is sometimes lost for non-value-adding operations resulting in time waste. Considering the large percentage of lost time in all operations, this study aims to reduce the high rate of non-contributory time (NCT) in construction services. To test the management model, a Peruvian company was selected as a study case. In this respect, a management model based on mostly implemented Lean tools such as Kanban, 5S, and TPM was utilized. It is of utmost importance to emphasize that this proposal aims to reduce the NCT by up to 25%, as well as reduce the number of orders generated with delay, and eventually reduce the loss or damage of materials and equipment stoppages.

As processes become more complex, measuring them using key KPI indicators, such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), is essential. This study analyses the OEE of the cardboard box production process-the product with the highest annual revenue in a Peruvian printing company. The current OEE is 64.27%, which falls short of the graphic industry standard (72.5%). Increasing the OEE would provide several benefits, such as higher availability, improved product quality, reduced setup times, and lower machine wear. Therefore, an innovative solution model is proposed that will use SMED and TPM tools, as well as Automation and IoT technologies. These Lean tools will be enhanced through the mentioned technologies. The solution model will follow the PMBOK approach due to its significant contributions to project management and will consist of three phases: initial, implementation, and closure. I...
