Introduction: Academic self-efficacy drives achievement and student well-being; however, brief, psychometrically rigorous measures tailored to complex university courses remain scarce. Existing long‑form scales, although thorough, are often impractical for time-constrained research and classroom diagnostics. Objective: to develop and validate the five‑item Self‑Efficacy Scale in Academic Mastery (SSAM). Method: Items rooted in the Social Learning Theory were reviewed by experts (n=6). Psychometric testing used two university samples (N₁ = 180, N₂ = 742) plus the PHQ‑4. Results: Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported a unidimensional structure with high reliability (α=.91; ω=.92) and good fit (CFI/TLI>.90; RMSEA/SRMR<.08). The scale showed configural, metric, and scalar invariance across the sex and academic status groups. Graded Response Model paramete...

This study develops and empirically validates an integrated conceptual model that investigates the causal relationships among Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Jidoka, and economic sustainability (ECSU) within the manufacturing industry. Based on Resource and Capability Theory as well as Systems Theory, the model posits that TPM directly influences both jidoka and ECSU, while jidoka acts as a mediator in the relationship between TPM and ECSU. Utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS) and data collected from 357 surveys of the maquiladora industry in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, the analysis confirms that TPM positively affects jidoka (β=,632, p<0,001) and ECSU (β=0,340, p<0,001). Furthermore, jidoka contributes significantly to ECSU (β=0,358, p<0,001) and mediates the effect of TPM on ECSU (β=0,226), resulting in an increased total effect of β=0,566. The researchers con...

Abstract Educational research presents certain biases in what is referred to the construction of an edumetric documentary instrument and its validation process. This may be due to the lack of axiological awareness from some researchers, thesis experts, advisors and expert judges who have the moral obligation to validate the instrument through its items. To summarize what has been exposed previously the following objective is proposed; to notice the lack of ethics and morality of the people involved in the construction and validation process of an edumentric instrument. The analysis of the scientific article corresponds to the analytical - hermeneutical method in what is referred to the qualitative approach and the instrumental studies method in what is referred to the quantitative method. The hermeneutical method has allowed the strict analysis of the role of those who were mentioned bef...

Today it seems as if each individual is responsible for choosing his/her mate. Historically, this process has been mainly regulated by culture, family and society, which make the rules and norms, and defines suitable behaviors in the mate selection process. This research aimed at constructing a scale to analyze if people consider themselves responsible for the choice of their partner and to what extent. A qualitative study using ATLAS.ti content analysis resulted in different theoretical factors. A second study sought to corroborate the theoretical factors using a principal component analysis, determining the following factors: Destiny-Predestination, Powerful Microcosm, and Internal Control factor, which explain 50.94% of the variance with 17 items. The instrument shows that the locus of control in mate choice is not a continuum that moves between internality and externality but, rather...

The body-mind problem has been a central and permanent problem not only in the history of psychology but in all the sciences that deal with so-called mental processes. With progress in the neurosciences in the past decades, there is a contemporary trend towards the solution of the problem through brain research. The aim of this study is demonstrate that: (a) the current trend shows a form of naïve materialism, similar to 19th century, “naïve materialism”; and (b) Wilhelm Wundt’s antimaterialist position offers an alternative to naïve materialism which shows to be more plausible.
