The fingerprint orientation field is a widely used feature for developing indexing strategies. Such feature brings stability and decreases the response times during the identification process. The use of attribute relational graphs and dynamic masks can exploit the features provided by the partitioning scheme. The penetration index and the error rate for each of the proposed strategies were determined. To verify the results obtained were used the databases provided by the Fingerprint Verification Competition. Both search schemes reveal the facilities offered by the orientation field for guiding the searching process; reducing the number of comparisons in 53.24%; proving its stability against different fingerprint image qualities. Based on the results, it was proven that the adoption of such indexing strategies will reduce the response time in the identification module proposed by the Ide...

The multidisciplinary geometallurgical modeling of the value chain is dependent on the areas of geology, mining and metallurgy, for this reason it is of the utmost importance in estimating the resources of the deposit. The objective of this study is to determine a methodology for modeling non-additive variables such as the work index. The methodology is based on the fact that there are geometallurgical variables whose average values do not correspond to the arithmetic mean of the domain, this is the case of metallurgical hardness variables. To achieve this objective, the database of a 100 linear km drilling campaign was used for the generation of comminution metallurgical composites, geochemical analysis and geological logging. The synthetic domain modeling was developed based on the redefinition of the alteration geochemical domains through the use of decision trees and the work index m...

Digital activity impacts multiple aspects of contemporary society, including the economy, government and education. Moreover, given the complexity of online activities and the development of the digital society, Digital Citizenship should be seen as a scale encompassing various levels of digital participation and skills. Therefore, appropriate methods are required to assess and optimally monitor this dimension based on people's online activity. The article focuses on the definition and construction of a Digital Activity Index (InAD) in Peru with the aim of identifying patterns in internet access (incidence) and use (intensity) that represent opportunities for improving the digital profile in Peru. The study uses the Alkire-Foster methodology to create the InAD Peru based on data from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) from 2015 to 2023. The results of InAD Peru show a steady increase ...

The physicochemical and biological indices have been used in isolation; if the parameters of these indices were applied in an integrated manner, they would bring together in a single measure the functional and structural variability of the biotic and abiotic components of water quality. The aim of this study was to build a comprehensive water quality index. Eleven sampling points were selected considering different degrees of agro-industrial intervention. 21 abiotic variables and 27 biological metrics were measured. Macroinvertebrates were quantitatively collected and identified to family taxonomic level. Using Principal Component Analysis, after standardization and exclusion of uncorrelated variables (VIF ≤ 10), the abiotic gradient was determined, which represented the abiotic variables that explained the disturbances in the water; with the abiotic gradient and the biological metrics...

The rainy season is of high importance for livelihoods in the Southern Peruvian Andes (SPA), especially for agriculture, which is mainly rain fed and one of the main income sources in the region. Therefore, knowledge and predictions of the rainy season such as its onset and ending are crucial for planning purposes. However, such information is currently not readily available for the local population. Moreover, an evaluation of existing rainy season indices shows that they are not optimally suited for the SPA and may not be directly applicable in a forecasting context. Therefore, we develop a new index, named Climandes index, which is tailored to the SPA and designed to be of use for operational monitoring and forecasting purposes. Using this index, we analyse the climatology and trends of the rainy season in the SPA. We find that the rainy season starts roughly between September and Janu...

The behavior of an index based on the difference of atmospheric pressure between Darwin and Paita (IDP) was analyzed, as an indicator of the effects of El Niño and La Niña in the Northern Humboldt Current Ecosystem (NHCE). The temporal variation of IDP at monthly scale had a good correlation with the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI). Additionally, the maximum cross correlation between IDP and AN3.4 was found at a lag of -3, which could allow to use the IDP to simulate the AN3.4. The behavior of IDP obeys to the complex interaction between the atmospheric system of the region and the Equatorial Pacific.

The Qochoq river originates in the aquarium divortium, from the Amparaes pass at 5 650 masl, and in the snowmelt of the Ccolque Cruz, which are part of the eastern mountain range in the Calca province, Cusco; it has a runoff area of 162.85 km2 and a length of 20.81 km, flowing into the city of Calca in the Vilcanota river at 2 929 m of altitude. Throughout its journey it receives tributaries and due to the various economic activities such as livestock in the upper part, agricultural in the intermediate and lower zone, as well as the discharge of wastewater, solid waste and others, it loses its quality for various uses. For the determination of the water quality, the biotic indices and pollution indices were used, applying the methodology proposed by Tuffery & Verneaux using systematic lists based on macroinvertebrates or bioindicators for the determination of the biotic indices...

Moderate resolution imagery (MODIS) data from the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) can be used to estimate aboveground biomass at large spatial scales; however, validation of the information with fieldwork is required to make more accurate grassland vegetation predictions. The study was conducted in three districts of the central highlands of Peru. In total, 153 grass samples (high grassland and low grassland) were collected after reading NDVI in situ within a pixel of 250x250 m, with a frequency of three months during a three year period. Satellite images were downloaded from the MODIS sensor to obtain the NDVI. The NDVI-MODIS values were calibrated with the NDVI registered in situ, using regression models. The calibrated equations modelled the dynamic trends of vegetation between 2000 and 2018 for the central highlands. The NDVI in situ of the low grassland ranged between ...

Drought is one of the main events associated to climate change that affects water supply and food productions at different locations and time (spatio - temporal) in the Peruvian Tropical Andes (PTA). Furthermore, studies evidenced that drought are causing an enormous damage to social, economic and environmental spheres. Hence, The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has published a handbook of drought indicators and indices with the most representative methods used in the world to assess drought events, but each index has a different advantage since the requested variable and scope are different. In that sense, this study aims to compare the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Standardized Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) for agricultural drought under spatio - temporal consideration in the PTA, Mantaro Valley. Firstly, SPI is based on precipitation data, effectively distinguis...

Currently, streaming music services have become one of the main means of music consumption around the world. Spotify offers music streaming services and covers more than thirty million songs. Every year there is an increase in the production of songs so it is more difficult for a song to establish itself as a hit in the market. The objective of this work was to apply the Linear Regression modeling technique to find a trend of the data set on the popularity index of songs on the Spotify platform, in this way predict a result with new data that enters. A quantitative methodology was applied based on measurable data that were taken as datasets. As a result, a mean square error of 94.79 and a variance of 0.20 were obtained. The conclusion of the work is that the dataset used was not the ideal according to our objective.

The article presents a methodological proposal for assessing water sustainability in river basins using the Water Sustainability Index (WSI) and its application in the river basins of Chili, Caplina, Chancay-Lambayeque, and Urubamba, as well as at the national level in Peru, for the period 2012-2021. The WSI consists of three sub-indices based on the components of sustainable development: economic (SiE), social (SiS), and environmental (SiA). The WSI rating scale ranges from 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest). Intrinsic and extrinsic indicators, both economic, social, and environmental, were selected. The results show that, both at the basin level and nationally, the social component performs best. However, significant challenges remain in the environmental component (Caplina and Chili river basins) and the economic component (Chancay-Lambayeque, Chili, Urubamba river basins, and national level...
