Background: The pandemic caused by Sars-cov-2 has generated multiple sustained efforts for its identification, characteristics and mobility of the disease that to date has repercussions worldwide. Given this need, it is necessary to have updated information considering transparent research processes. Method: a critical review of the current literature on COVID-19 research. Conclusions: It is essential to have ethical procedures in the different phases of research that can go beyond personal interests and that guarantee the preservation of people's welfare in the reduction of possible damage to health globally, adequate procedures in the collection of information that is not built to the measure of the researchers, to avoid involuntary segregation of the participants and that this leads to a reduction of significant damage due to implicit biases that are generated...

The impact of social networks on people's daily lives is worrisome, particularly in adolescents and young people, who seem to exceed the limits of normal use. Constant excessive use can lead to pathological behaviors linked to social media addiction (SMA). Our objectives were to 1) adapt the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) to Spanish and 2) evaluate its psychometric properties in a young population. The BSMAS was adapted to Spanish, involving experts on social media addiction and people from the target population during the adaptation process. For the psychometric evaluation, 650 Peruvian college students responded to the Spanish version (53.5 % women aged 18 to 40, M = 21.5 SD = 2.7). The one-dimensional measurement model proposed for the original BSMAS was confirmed for our version (X2(9) = 23.9315, CFI = 0.994, TLI = 0.990, SRMR = 0.032, RMSEA = 0.061). The reliability was...

The objective of the present study was to analyze the internal structure of the AWARE 3.0 questionnaire in drug addicts. A total of 240 subjects undergoing residential treatment (males n = 205 and females n = 35) between 18 and 61 years with the AWARE relapse alert scale were evaluated. The analyzes confirmed the existence of a single factor, in addition five confirmatory models were tested including the factor of method that demonstrated to influence in the original model. The reliability analysis obtained adequate scores for both observed and latent variables that represented equality at the conceptual and unit level (congeneric and tau-equivalent models). The results indicate a better fit only with the direct item model in addition to a short version. These findings provide a new perspective on the structure of the instrument and a new version that helps complement the evaluation in t...

Background: Publications on addictive behaviors have been increasing including their contextual heterogeneity in different virtual platforms in order to generate visibility. Objective: it was to identify the networks of collaboration, authorship and keywords on addictive behaviors. Method: Scientific mapping and bibliometric indicators were used to analyze the evolution of addictive behaviors in indexed and non-indexed journals in Peru. Results: 38% of articles were single authorship, 43 of them use quantitative data (81%), 23 worked with young participants (53.5%), 37 are empirical studies (69.9%) and internet addiction was more frequent (39.6 %). Peruvian journals in SCI since 2006 have presented at least an index value h = 1. Conclusion: there is evidence of difficulty in tracking studies on addictive behaviors in Peruvian journals, added to the lack of clear regulations, generate a c...

Objective: Mining activity represents one of the most hazardous occupations related to health, with 8% of fatal injuries concentrated in this sector worldwide. Thus, it is crucial to timely identify the factors involved in such injuries. We aimed to explore the sociodemographic and occupational/organisational factors associated with injuries, causative agents and subsequent disabilities and fatality of workers exposed to occupational injuries in the mining sector. Design: A secondary scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute guidelines. Data sources: Scopus, Embase, Virtual Health Library, SciELO and PubMed databases were searched in February 2022 and updated in October 2023. The protocol was developed in April 2022. Eligibility criteria for selecting studies: We included observational studies published within the last 13 years (2010–2022) which provided inform...

Introduction: Cancer patients frequently experience psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, perceived stress, and emotional distress, which may negatively affect their quality of life. However, the impact of comorbid mental health symptoms on both mental and physical components of quality of life remains insufficiently explored in Latin American populations. Objective: To determine the association between depressive symptoms, anxiety, stress, and emotional distress (exposures) and quality of life (outcome) in Peruvian cancer patients. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 465 adult cancer patients recruited from oncology services. Mental health variables were dichotomized according to established cut-off points. Quality of life (mental and physical components) was categorized into low–medium versus high levels. Generalized linear models with Poisson distrib...

Background: Harmful work patterns have become a public health problem. These conditions are worrying since they can have an impact on mental health, social conflicts, and physical difficulties due to their normalization of pathological behaviors related to work addiction. Aims: (1) determine the psychometric properties and reliability of the DUWAS and (2) evaluate valid comparisons at the construct level. Methods: The Spanish version of DUWAS was used. For the evaluation of the psychometric model, 446 Peruvian workers responded to the Spanish version (60.5% women aged 18 to 65, M = 35.1 SD = 12.45). Results: The unidimensional version was confirmed (x2 = 67.495(14); CFI = 0.96; TLI = 0.95; SRMR = 0.050 and RMSEA = 0.069). The reliability was acceptable (α = 0.735; 95% CI: 0.706 − 0.762; ω = 0.741; 95% CI: 0.712 − 0.767) and measurement invariance was confirmed for sex and age group...
