This work is an argumentative essay, or, in the terms of Montero and León (2005), it is a theoretical study. Its objective is to critically propose an evaluation of the state in which psychological research is in Peru, and from this analysis, raise the potential reasons for the problematic situation and reflect on these aspects, in order to finally propose ideas for solving the problems detected. For its purpose and the kind of discourse that is managed in it, this could be useful for students or work teams that wish to conduct deeper, empirical (quantitative or qualitative) or non-empirical research, about the topic of psychological research in Peru.

This article explores the role of beliefs in students that enter university. The author claims that beliefs serve not only as determinant of the interpretation of everyday affairs but also as a source for social and personal interaction, and in the process of decision- making. Beliefs have been grouped in four: beliefs about one self and the beliefs about professors; and beliefs about peers. The data discussed in the article was obtained in a previous research conducted by the author.

Background: Publications on addictive behaviors have been increasing including their contextual heterogeneity in different virtual platforms in order to generate visibility. Objective: it was to identify the networks of collaboration, authorship and keywords on addictive behaviors. Method: Scientific mapping and bibliometric indicators were used to analyze the evolution of addictive behaviors in indexed and non-indexed journals in Peru. Results: 38% of articles were single authorship, 43 of them use quantitative data (81%), 23 worked with young participants (53.5%), 37 are empirical studies (69.9%) and internet addiction was more frequent (39.6 %). Peruvian journals in SCI since 2006 have presented at least an index value h = 1. Conclusion: there is evidence of difficulty in tracking studies on addictive behaviors in Peruvian journals, added to the lack of clear regulations, generate a c...

Background: Harmful work patterns have become a public health problem. These conditions are worrying since they can have an impact on mental health, social conflicts, and physical difficulties due to their normalization of pathological behaviors related to work addiction. Aims: (1) determine the psychometric properties and reliability of the DUWAS and (2) evaluate valid comparisons at the construct level. Methods: The Spanish version of DUWAS was used. For the evaluation of the psychometric model, 446 Peruvian workers responded to the Spanish version (60.5% women aged 18 to 65, M = 35.1 SD = 12.45). Results: The unidimensional version was confirmed (x2 = 67.495(14); CFI = 0.96; TLI = 0.95; SRMR = 0.050 and RMSEA = 0.069). The reliability was acceptable (α = 0.735; 95% CI: 0.706 − 0.762; ω = 0.741; 95% CI: 0.712 − 0.767) and measurement invariance was confirmed for sex and age group...

There is discussion about the possibility of predicting and controlling addictions by intervening in social skills; the results found before are contradictory. In this study, addiction to social networks and social skill were related in predictive terms. A non-probabilistic sample of 142 high school students residing in Tacna-Peru, aged 14 to 17, was used. They were given the social network addiction questionnaire and the Goldstein social skills questionnaire. A small negative correlation was found between the dimensions of both instruments; the regression analysis allowed to identify that obsession with social networks weakly predicted changes in communication skills, alternatives to violence and pro-friendliness; and that the pro-frieidliness dimension exerts influence on obsession with social networks and lack of control; the comparative analysis found that those who use social networ...

The objective of this instrumental study (Ato, López & Benavente, 2013) or psychometric-type (Alarcón, 2008) was to estimate the validity and reliability of the Self-Efficacy Inventory for Multiple Intelligences-Revised (IAMI-R, Pérez & Cupani, 2008) in Peruvian students of fifth year of high school. We worked with a sample of 1304 adolescents, with an average age of 16.81, divided into two groups of 652. Reliability was calculated with the Ordinal Alpha (Contreras & Novoa-Muñoz, 2018) and with the McDonald’s Omega coefficient, obtaining appropriate values. The Exploratory Factor Analysis (AFE) confirms the eight factors of the original version that explain 70% of the variability of the scores. With the confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA), adjustment indices were obtained confirming this factorial structure: SSc2 = 1857.73, gl = 1047, SSc2 / gl = 1.77, RMSEA = .035, S...
