In recent years, the giant squid processing industry in Peru exhibited a 59% increase in exports with respect to 2018. According to estimates, this industry generates approximately 30,900 jobs per year. However, some SMEs experience low productivity, such as the PECEPE company, due to plant downtime. This represents 26% of the available time, which translates into the loss of 1760 tons every year. The most constraining external factor the sector faces is uncertainty in resource availability caused by changing weather conditions and informal fishing activities. Natural Language Processing deals with the understanding and generation of texts through computer programs. There are many different functionalities used in this area, but among them there are some functions that are the support of the remaining ones. These methods are related to the core processing of the morphology of the language (such as lemmatization) and automatic identification of the part-of-speech tag. Thereby, this paper describes the implementation of a basic NLP toolkit for a new language, focusing in the features mentioned before, and testing them in an own corpus built for the occasion. The obtained results exceeded the expected results and could be used for more complex tasks such as machine translation.

Existe aún cierto recelo en cuanto al uso de la traducción automática en textos especializados entre la comunidad traductora y también en el mercado de la traducción. Incluso todavía se cree que, en la mayoría de situaciones, el resultado de la traducción automática no es apropiado. Sin embargo, se debe entender a la traducción automática como un producto perfectible que se puede adecuar con una etapa de PE y que puede agilizar los procesos de traducción. Por lo tanto, el siguiente trabajo de fin de curso tiene como objetivo comprobar el beneficio del uso de Google Translate, como función de traductor automático en SDL Trados Studio, durante la traducción de dos textos médicos.

WordNet-like resources are lexical databases with highly relevance information and data which could be exploited in more complex computational linguistics research and applications. The building process requires manual and automatic tasks, that could be more arduous if the language is a minority one with fewer digital resources. Esta investigación se centró en evaluar la calidad de la traducción automática mediante el análisis de dos traductores automáticos, utilizando la métrica de evaluación SAE J2450, previamente establecida. Se optó por un enfoque cuantitativo, de nivel exploratorio y se llevó a cabo mediante un diseño de estudio transeccional exploratorio en Lima, Perú. La muestra consistió en dos motores de traducción automática, DeepL y Yandex, a los cuales se les sometió un fragmento de un documento técnico del campo de la automoción. Luego de evaluar ambos traductores automáticos, se determinó que la calidad promedio de sus traducciones es medianamente baja, con un puntaje de 74.50 %. THE RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED USING THE SCOPUS AND WEB OF SCIENCE DATABASES, FROM WHICH 20 ARTICLES ADDRESSED THE SUBJECT MATTER BETWEEN 2014 AND 2024 WERE SELECTED. RESULTS/DISCUSSION. In this research, an innovative mechanical- electronic device has been developed for the efficient purification of carrots seeds, a critical process in agricultural production due to its impact on the quality and yield of future crops.
