This paper  aims at reflecting on  the need  to  reorient    translator training within the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in professional settings.   Te role of the human translator, as we know it today, will disappear as routine and repetitive tasks will become automated by AI-driven machine translation, leaving complex text translation and post-editing tasks for the human translator.  Therefore, it is imperative to exercise the human skills  needed for mediation in cross-linguistic and cross-cultural contexts.
