Stroke is a major cause of death and disability, with most of its burden now affecting low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). People in rural areas of LMIC who have a stroke receive very little acute stroke care and local healthcare workers and family caregivers in these regions lack the necessary knowledge to assist them. Intriguingly, a recent rapid growth in cell-phone use and digital technology in rural areas has not yet been appropriately exploited for health care training and delivery purposes. What should be done in rural areas, at the community setting-level, where access to healthcare is limited remains a challenge. We review the evidence on improving post-stroke outcomes including lowering the risks of functional disability, stroke recurrence, and mortality, and propose some approaches, to target post-stroke care and rehabilitation, noting key challenges in designing suitable...

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is made up of a group of memory progression disorders, mainly, but with impairments in other cognitive functions that lead to functional decline that progressively reduces autonomy in people who suffer from it. Since the diagnosis of Alzheimer's in the elderly, care has been explicit, initiating a series of changes in the family, which range from assuming a new role to emotional and economic transitions. The caregiver is hardly cared for, most care strategies are aimed at training the caregiver for care. There are several non-pharmacological techniques such as art therapy, however, they are oriented towards the patient suffering from the disease, not the caregiver. Art therapy can be implemented by nursing staff in order to enhance the communication and expression of emotions of caregivers, therefore the objective is to propose a nursing intervention based on art...

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) applications for creating behavioural and physiological monitoring methods, such as an IoT-based student healthcare monitoring system, has been accelerated by advances in sensor technology. Today, there are an increasing number of students living alone whoare dispersed across large geographic areas, therefore it is important to monitor their health and function. This research propose novel technique in high performance modelling for health monitoring system by 5G network based machine learning analysis. Here the input is collected as EEG brain waves which are monitored and collected through 5G networks. This input EEG waves has been processed and obtained as fragments and noise removal is carried out. The processed EEG wave fragments has been extracted using K-adaptive reinforcement learning. this extracted features has been classified using na...

A predictive model is a good technique for prognosticating the life cycle of medical care services (LCMCS) related to its growth, stability, and decline to support information processes and decision-making based on intelligent forecasts. Medical care services require organization, scheduling, and programming attention to prevent the capacity of medical personnel. Otherwise, it could be chaotic. This research aims to evaluate three predictive models to find the best one to fit information about the LC-MCS and understand medical care services' behavior in healthcare entities. The proposed model applied to Ricardo Palma Clinic (RPC) in Lima Perú analyzes the LC-MCS information based on 4950 clinical health records. Three predictive models were trained and compared to evaluate the accuracy of backpropagation neural networks, decision trees, and multiple linear regression models. After train...

Depression associated with stroke affects roughly one-third of stroke survivors. Post-stroke depression (PSD) is thought to adversely influence functional outcome by limiting participation in rehabilitation, decreasing physical, social, and cognitive function, and affecting neuroplasticity thereby placing stroke survivors at high risk for future vascular events. PSD has also been associated with higher mortality rates after stroke. In Peru, a country where there is no national stroke program and mental health disorders are largely underdiagnosed and untreated, people with PSD are likely to be further challenged by dependency and impoverished conditions that will limit their use of ambulatory services, leading to inadequate clinical follow-up. In this scenario, mobile health (mHealth) technology offers a promising approach to extend access to high-quality and culturally tailored evidence-...

During the COVID-19 pandemic, older people have been the group with the highest mortality rate, especially those who require long-term care for having lost their functional ability. These people are living at home with their family or in a nursing home. It has been described that older people may develop an oligosymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection or particular symptoms of the disease. Therefore, symptom-based screening is not the most recommended strategy in this scenario. Since it is necessary to detect early cases in the elderly population, this research work analyzes and proposes the best available alternatives for attaining such goal.
