This paper aims to discuss which basic implications firms need to be aware of if they decide to include equity shares as a part of salary payments in order for them to tackle financial risks due to the COVID-19 crisis, benefiting with better liquidity. We discuss this alternative from the strand of potential financial benefits, but also include a power perspective, emphasizing how firms could share with employees their decision-making processes as well as a part of their position of traditional hegemony. We concluded that firms’ decision regarding this financial alternative fits into a short-term benefit and at the same time threats a long run position of power.

Geo-referenced textual data has been the subject of multiple investigations, by providing opportunities to better understand certain phenomena according to the content that is shared, either on-line such as social networks, blogs, and news; or through repositories such as scientific research articles, geo-referenced virtual books, among others. However, the characteristics of this information are studied, analyzed and processed separately, either through its textual components or its geo-spatial components, which offers a separate understanding of the results. In this paper, we propose an integration of textual and geo-spatial components from the pre-processing phase to the visualization stage, As a part of the Document Mapping process based on the phases of the Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD). Achieving two main results (1) minimize the problems that arise in the visual phase, su...

Technological advances have allowed to collect and store large volumes of data over the years. Besides, it is significant that today's applications have high performance and can analyze these large datasets effectively. Today, it remains a challenge for data mining to make its algorithms and applications equally efficient in the need of increasing data size and dimensionality [1]. To achieve this goal, many applications rely on parallelism, because it is an area that allows the reduction of cost depending on the execution time of the algorithms because it takes advantage of the characteristics of current computer architectures to run several processes concurrently [2]. This paper proposes a parallel version of the FuzzyPred algorithm based on the amount of data that can be processed within each of the processing threads, synchronously and independently.

In this study, we investigate changes in the glaciated surface and the formation of lakes in the headwater of the Querococha watershed in Cordillera Blanca (Peru) using 24 Landsat images from 1975 to 2014. Information of glacier retreat was integrated with available climate data, the first survey of recent depositional dynamics in proglacial Yanamarey Lake (4600m a.s.l.), and a relatively short hydrological record (2002-2014) at the outlet of Yanamarey Lake. A statistically significant temperature warming (0.21°C decade-1 for mean annual temperature) has been detected in the region, and it caused a reduction of the glacierized area since 1975 from 3.5 to 1.4km-2. New small lakes formed in the deglaciated areas, increasing the flooded area from1.8ha in 1976 to 2.8ha in 2014. A positive correlation between annual rates of glacier recession and runoff was found. Sediment cores revealed a h...

In recent years, the giant squid processing industry in Peru exhibited a 59% increase in exports with respect to 2018. According to estimates, this industry generates approximately 30,900 jobs per year. However, some SMEs experience low productivity, such as the PECEPE company, due to plant downtime. This represents 26% of the available time, which translates into the loss of 1760 tons every year. The most constraining external factor the sector faces is uncertainty in resource availability caused by changing weather conditions and informal fishing activities. Although there is a large number of research studies on the fishing industry and resource extraction, literature on processing plant operations is scarce. Within this context, this study seeks to promote a high impact sector in Peru, as well as fostering processing plant competitiveness and productivity. Hence, to address these iss...
