This article presents the concepts developed by Bororo people in their narratives, focusing on the word they use to name them —bakaru— as well as on their manifestations in everyday situations. Our goal is to show how understanding these concepts and their manifestations in the community reveals aspects of Bororo’s life and culture, that are essential knowledge for our professional interactions with them within the school education program. The data presented come from ethnographic research held in the Central Village of Tadarimana in Rondonópolis (Mato Grosso state, Brazil), between 2011 and 2012. They reveal that these narratives constitute a body of guidelines for Bororo life as a prescriptive dimension resulting from how these people conceive the cosmos; and as a formative dimension, when they use them to guide the training...

The purpose of this review is to compare the advantages of giomers in pediatric dentistry compared to other dental cements. A narrative review was performed in the SciELO databases and in bibliographic search engines PubMed, Google Scholar, until 2019. Of the 43 articles, eight were excluded since they did not present information with relevant results, leaving a total of 35 articles for our investigation. Comparative results were obtained in terms of fluoride recharge or release, shear force, color stability and clinical behavior on the tooth surface; finding that giomers are fluoride-releasing materials par excellence, as well as for its adhesion to dentin, complying with the acceptance and guidelines of dentin and enamel of the Adhesive Materials program established by the American Dental Association.

The teaching of human parasitology is essential for students of health sciences, especially medicine, because it is a major global public health problem―occurring with high frequency in low-income countries―and because of its presence in countries considered developed. In this sense, it is estimated that worldwide there are 2,800 million individuals infected with soil-transmitted helminths, 20 to 30% people infected with Toxoplasma gondii, 300 to 500 million new cases of malaria per year, and nearly 15 million Latin Americans with Chagas disease, an infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. This narrative review article analyzes information available in digital repositories on aspects of the traditional educational program of human or medical parasitology using descriptors or keywords closely related to the topic. The reviewed articles were mainly those published in peer-reviewed, index...

Background: Obesity in children and adolescents has increased exponentially around the world. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a higher pediatric obesity rate. The excess adipose tissue generates a dysregulation of adiponectin, ghrelin, and leptin, among others. Metabolic alterations can develop cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemias, arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, sleep disorders, and higher risk of COVID-19 severity. Obesity has different therapeutic approaches such as behavioral weight loss programs, pharmacologic treatments, and surgical procedures. Therefore, timely diagnosis and treatment are important to decrease the mortality in obesity among pediatric population.

Chronic renal disease (CRD) is an important public health problem. There is no a national renal health program in Peru. There is evidence that the multidisciplinary model of care in patients with CRD delays progression and reduces all-cause mortality. Although there is no agreement on certain topics, such as at which glomerular filtration rate should the multidisciplinary team work, it is clear that outcomes are improved. Human and financial resources are needed to implement this approach.

During the 2019-2020 season, six television programs about the terrorist organization ETA were broadcast in Spain. The aim of this research is to analyze the “television narrative” that has been constructed about ETA almost ten years after the cessation of violence. As the programs had different formats, a qualitative methodology based on textual analysis was used. The conclusions show a new narrative which recalled some historical facts and gave the victims a clearly prominent role. This resulted in a renewed discourse that builds collective memory in order to learn some lessons and move forward for the sake of coexistence and reconciliation.

The study of the conditions and complexities of postgraduate programs is a strategy that contributes to the understanding, development, and continuity of educational offerings in higher education institutions. The postgraduate experience, through narrative, is a symbolic construction that is shaped by knowledge and politics. This performance weaves the fabric of academic good taste as a distinctive feature that legitimizes its graduates. This research is a qualitative-inductive case study that uses the categories of performance, habitus, and experience to outline, from the narrative of graduates of a regional Doctorate in Educational Development program, the symbolic space in education to understand its contribution. The confessional narrative technique is used to obtain discursive portions, processed in a matrix and analyzed with QDA Miner 1.4. The results allow constructing the argumen...
