Background: Resistance by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) is the most common antimicrobial resistance and of public health importance. Objectives: To describe ESBL producing bacteria characteristics in a national reference hospital. Design: Cross sectional, descriptive study. Setting: Hospital Nacional Daniel Alcides Carrión, Callao, Peru. Materials: Records of secretion cultures done in the hospital Laboratory of Microbiology during 2012. Methods: Patient data (age, sex and service from which the sample was received) and sample data (date of collection, sample type, microorganism found, sensitivity and detailed classification as ESBLproducing bacteria) were analyzed. Objetive. Communicate the first report of Klebsiella pneumoniae producing carbapenemases. The study: Microbiological diagnosis using phenotypic methods: double disc synergy, modified Hodge test, immunochromatography and carbapenemic inactivation. Findings: Four isolates (urine 3 and blood 1) of carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae were confirmed, which also presented a MIC of 4 and> = 8 for ertapenem and> = 16 µg / mL at imipenem and meropenem. Conclusion: Standardized phenotypic methods are useful in the confirmation of carbapenemases and with it an alternative for the best taking of therapeutic options and epidemiological surveillance.

Objective: To determine the clonality pattern assessed by ERIC-PCR and REP-PCR in extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from patients with urinary tract infections at the Hospital Regional Lambayeque (HRL) from July to November 2015. Materials and methods: A total of 30 ESBL-producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae clinical isolates collected from the HRL’s emergency, medicine, surgery and pediatrics services were assessed. The clonal relationship was determined using the ERIC-PCR and REP-PCR markers. For clusters, UPGMA algorithm with Bio Rad Quantity One 1-D analysis software was used, thus generating dendrograms through the union of the electrophoretic profiles obtained by both molecular markers. Objective: To determine the frequency of extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) in clinical infections caused by Escherichia coli y Klebsiella pneumoniae and the frequency of CTX-M among them at the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño-Breña, Lima, Peru. Methods: ESBL producing strains of E. coli and K. pneumoniae collected from August 2012 and January 2013 were analyzed; a total of 724 E. coli and 181 K. pneumoniae consecutive, non- repeated isolates from community and hospital acquired infections were included. Determinar los factores de riesgo para infección de tracto urinario (ITU) por gérmenes productores de betalactamasas de espectro extendido (BLEE) en pacientes pediátricos en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo, en el periodo enero 2014 a febrero 2020. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Investigación observacional, analítica de caso control, retrospectiva, de nivel básico. La muestra comprendió 123 pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados, de ellos 41 casos (con ITU causado por gérmenes productores de BLEE) y 82 controles (con ITU causado por gérmenes no productores de BLEE).
