In Peru, according to the definition of the National Institute of Statistics and Data Processing (INEI, 2023), an individual in considered to be living in poverty if their monthly income is below PEN 415. Poverty decreased considerably from 2011 to 2019. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it has significantly increased, to the detriment of all progress made in the previous decade. Even though social welfare programs are a good option to fight poverty, it is necessary for these programs to complement their strategy with financial literacy to improve their effectiveness. This paper evaluates the current situation and the importance of financial literacy for the reduction of poverty in Peru. This research is descriptive, non-experimental and cross-sectional. The results of several studies conducted in various countries revealed that financial literacy is significantly effective to reduc...

Introduction: The prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors such as overweight, dyslipidemia, hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM2) has increased in recent decades, so there are multiple programs to reduce this prevalence. Objective: To evaluate the early effect of a program aimed at reducing cardiovascular risk factors in secondary education teachers. Methods: An intervention study was carried out based on the application of physical exercises and nutritional education workshops once a week for three consecutive months. General data were recorded and the lipid profile, glucose, blood pressure and body composition were quantified by using the bioimpedance balance, at the beginning of the intervention and 3 months later in the intervention group and the control group. To evaluate the effect of the program, the averages were compared and the level of significance was defined at 0....

Behavior-based safety programs are applied with the aim of reinforcing the level of safety at work, but if it is done by complying with a number of observations of safe behavior established in the goal of the month in the workplace, it generates in workers who only comply with safety while being observed or that observers report behaviors that they did not really see; consequently, accidents with workers continue and even worse with fatal cases, observers stop believing in the safety program they are using and management comes to believe that with a greater number of observations it is possible to correct unsafe behaviors; therefore, the results of the program are not achieved over time. This is a consequence of not having understood the principles of behavior-based security theory since the beginning of its implementation. In the present investigation, the behavior-based security theory...

the purpose of this research study was to determine whether implementing a motivation program could lead to a reduction in the rate of occupational accidents in the bakery plant of a manufacturing company based in Lima. The study followed a quasi-experimental approach and used a pretest/posttest design with a single group and a sample of 117 workers. The data collection methods included statistical data on work-related accidents, direct observations in the workplace, recording and monitoring of interactions, and a motivation questionnaire. The research results revealed that implementing the IPLEFOR motivation program—which spanned 21 months—led to a 100% reduction in the accident rate. Consequently, it led to a significant improvement in the occupational health and safety system.

The effects of the implementation of a program based on the 5S methodology for the minimization of risks and accidents at work in an Electrical Services company (Lima - Peru) were evaluated. The study is of an applied type and of a pre-experimental design, the analysis unit covered 19 operational and administrative units of the company in question during the years 2022 and 2023. The data collection was carried out by the observation method, using checklists, records of inspections and accidents that were validated by the criteria of judges. The comparative analysis was carried out after verifying the normality of the data, determining the use of the Student's t test. The results show significant differences due to the implementation of 5S. Regarding risks, there was a significant reduction, due to the intervention of the independent variable: 5S methodology, since the average risk of the...

The investigation consisted in the design of a mathematical model that allows the reduction of production costs in a tin foundry plant, which would lead to the reduction of pollutants. The model proposed by Kim and Lewis (1987), who was adapted to the company under study, was taken as reference. The situation that motivated this investigation was the insufficient quantitative techniques in the production programming around foundry operations, where the effect a batch has over others is not taken into account. After testing the model, the results indicated estimated savings of S/.3 314 964 per year, an estimated saving of 23% in the use of the melting furnace and a decrease in the content of pollutants.

This research evaluated the impact of Operations Research in the optimization of logistics processes in companies in Benguela (Angola). Using a quantitative approach, representative companies from the logistics sector were selected and surveys and record analysis were applied to characterize their processes and detect areas for improvement. Mathematical models of linear programming, simulation and queuing theory were developed to optimize aspects such as route planning, inventory management and resource allocation, calibrated with real data. The results showed that the implementation of these solutions led to significant improvements in logistics efficiency, including reductions in transportation and storage costs, decreased delivery times, and increased product availability. In addition, opportunities were identified to minimize environmental impact through route optimization and cargo ...
