Con el fin de comprobar la eficacia y eficiencia del nylon de pescar como sutura quirúrgica, estudiamos prospectivamente 254 Pacientes en quienes se utilizó dicho material Para el Cierre de la pared abdominal, entre Setiembre de 1992 a junio 1994 en el Hospital I de Florencia de Mora del IPSS, Gerencia La Libertad. Los porcentajes de infección de herida encontrados fueron de 1.2% para heridas limpias y 1.2% para heridas contaminadas, cifras concordantes con la literatura consultada. En un seguimiento promedio de un año, encontramos que 5 pacientes (1.9%), Presentaron "rechazo" al material, identificándose en 2 de ellos técnica quirúrgica deficiente; y 7% tuvieron algún grado de defecto estético (queloides, hiperpigmentadas). Objective. To describe the development of educational materials for parents and other caregivers of children with cancer, which utilized a culturally sensitive approach to reduce acceptance barriers to palliative care (PC). Methods. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and partners in Latin America and the Caribbean collaborated in a three-phase project, beginning with a needs assessment survey of caregivers of children with cancer in Peru. Based on this finding, an interdisciplinary team of pediatric PC experts developed educational content that was designed and validated by an international committee of PC and communication experts. In order to know the effect of 60Co gamma irradiation, in the sunflower crop, were irradiated achenes in the Transelektro LGI-01 in the Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Nucleares. The data was evaluated under a completely randomized design, where the treatments were 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 Gy and four repetitions (10x4) = 40 experimental units. The response variables were: plant height, root length and volume, dry biomass. The results indicated that germination and sprouting decreased as the radiation increased, adjusting these to a quadratic model. Plant height, length, root volume and dry biomass decreased at high doses. From this investigation it was concluded, that doses of 100 and 200 Gy, have a stimulating effect on plant height and root length, being an important agent, to induce genetic variability in sunflower.

Objective. To report the progress in Peru, since June 2019, in the implementation of the World Health Organization Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer using the CureAll framework, which can be replicated in low- and middle-income countries. Methods. A mixed method was used of participatory and documentary evaluation. The participatory evaluation included stakeholders from various government institutions, nonprofit organizations, and international partners. The documentary aspect consisted of a review of data on the regulatory environment, national projects, and interventions implemented. The Ministry of Health engaged more than 150 participants to form working committees, which have developed policy and regulatory documents to strengthen care services. Results.
