Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a high alkaline cellulase producing Aspergillus fumigatus strain LMB-35Aa isolated from soil of Peruvian Amazon rainforest. The genome is ∼27.5 mb in size, comprises of 228 scaffolds with an average GC content of 50%, and is predicted to contain a total of 8660 protein-coding genes. Of which, 6156 are with known function; it codes for 607 putative CAZymes families potentially involved in carbohydrate metabolism. Several important cellulose degrading genes, such as endoglucanase A, endoglucanase B, endoglucanase D and beta-glucosidase, are also identified. The genome of A. fumigatus strain LMB-35Aa represents the first whole sequenced genome of non-clinical, high cellulase producing A. fumigatus strain isolated from forest soil.

The author deals with two issues. The first one is to explain the basis and the rationale that sustains the concerns on environment, focusing on the point that a stressed environment will limit the capacity of human kind to satisfy its needs and, with that, an absence of welfare and development. The second one is to identify aspects that closely link environment with corporations. Here, the author addresses such as corporations and poverty, the problems of cost externalities, profitability, eco business and environmental policies

The author describes donation debt swaps -one of the several menu options for debt treatment- and recent experiences in other countries. He proposes developing debt swaps basically for social and poverty relief spending, bearing in mind the in sufficiency of the actual amounts given today to such areas. T e paper underlines the advantages of donation debt swaps over debt reduction and of creating permanent funds for critical social areas. Finally, the author makes several suggestions for the scheme's appropriate development.

The Burseraceae are represented in Peru by six genera and 50 species (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993; Ulloa Ulloa et al., 2004), all of them trees. Here we recognize two endemic taxa in two genera. These taxa are found in the Very Humid Lowland Amazonian Forests and Very Humid Premontane Forest regions, between 150 and 1300 m elevation. Neither species has been registered within Peru’s protected areas system.

Octopus mimus Gould, 1852 is an important benthic resource in the Peruvian artisanal fishery and is always in demand on the international market. Bibliographic antecedents about the culture of this species for Southeastern Pacific are few. The present study was made in the Center of Aquaculture "La Arena", Casma, Peru. The experiments were carried out in fiber glass tanks and long-line in the sea. Feeding was made with fish, crustaceans and mollusk and also was tested with wet pellets ("piensos humedos"), the last one being accepted after an starvation period. For copulation the biggest specimens were chosen (1,5 kg). Differences were observed in growth for those reared in the pools (185 and 369 g/month), the growth rate was greater than that of those in the lines of culture (120,6 g/month). The maximum paralarvae survival was 17 days to temperatures of 21 to 22 oC; they were fed with na...

This paper describes the methodology used for the culture of Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas in an artisanal breeding pond in the La Arena acuicola center, in Casma. Reproducers at gonadal maturity phase from the culture lines of the center were used. They were prepared in fiber glass tanksi of 1000 L capacity with unfiltered sea water at 27 ± 0,9 oC, and fed with maize fecula and microalgae collected from site. In one group spawning was induced by thermal stimulation (30 to 31 oC), in the other one hydrogen peroxide was added, obtaining different responses. 20 minutes after fertilization the polar body was defined in 100% of fertilized eggs; veliger larvae were visible 24 hours after fertilization. Larvae reached the pediveliger stage 20 days after culture, with average sizes of 237 ± 10 µm. Ground shells (300pm), sandpapered black plastic and oyster valvas were used for settlement ...

Studies of floristic composition and plant species richness in tropical mountains support their recognition as areas of high biological diversity, and therefore of their importance for plant conservation. Here, we present data on the flora of the high Andes of eight sites centered in the Carabaya mountains, and also provide a floristic comparison with nine other floras within Peru and northern Bolivia. The study area includes 506 species of vascular plants, grouped in 203 genera and 66 families. The highest species richness was found in two families: Asteraceae and Poaceae, which collectively encompass 37% of all species. Other important families were Caryophyllaceae, Fabaceae, Malvaceae, Brassicaceae, Caprifoliaceae, Gentianaceae, Plantaginaceae and Cyperaceae. The most diverse genera were Senecio, Calamagrostis, Poa and Nototriche. Perennial herbs were the dominant growth form. The vas...

The present study analyses the geographical distribution, conservation status, and nomenclature of Peruvian endemic Pedersenia weberbaueri. The species distribution was modelled using MaxEnt based on occurrence data and bioclimatic variables. The conservation status of the species was assessed against the categories and criteria of the IUCN Red List, and nomenclatural and typification issues were resolved. The potential distribution map of P. weberbaueri shows that the species is restricted to the seasonally dry tropical forests of the Marañón valley within a narrow latitudinal, longitudinal, and elevational range. Consequently, we propose to categorise the species as Endangered (EN) and provide the necessary information for its inclusion in the IUCN Red List. Finally, we resolve nomenclatural issues and designate a lectotype. The results contribute to the biological knowledge of P. we...

The IM of this study to evaluate the oily extract of the squat lobster Pleuroncodes monodon in the balanced feed on the pigmentation of the muscle of the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The treatments were T1: feed formulated without pigment, T2 and T3: feed with 70 and 90 mg of natural astaxanthin/kg of feed, respectively, and T4 feed with synthetic pigment (70 mg of astaxanthin/kg of feed). The color values were recorded every 15 days and for 90 days using the Roche SalmoFanR colorimetric rule and the L*, a*, b*, C* and H* values of the dorsal and caudal zone of the trout. The results of the color readings indicated that the treatments T2, T3 and T4 obtained with the SalmoFanR rule did not show significant differences between them; however, the measurement obtained with the colorimeter showed differences in the color of T4 with respect to T2 and T3. It is concluded that the additi...
