ABSTRACT Introduction: Young women are at an increased risk of anemia, because they need a greater iron intake for their body growth and because of losses of this mineral due to menstruation. Also during adolescence, eating disorders can occur that would lead to not ingesting an adequate supply of iron for its development. Objective: To determine the frequency of food intake and anemia in high school adolescent girls from a Public National School of Lima. Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study. Hemoglobin was measured by a portable hemoglobinometer. Nutritional status was assessed using the body mass index, according to WHO tables. The diet and frequency of food intake were assessed using multiple choice surveys. Results: A total of 125 adolescents were included in this study. The frequency of anemia was 16 %. In the nutritional state, 81.6 % presented healthy weight, 13.6 % overweigh...

Primary care in Peru is understood as medical attention given at precarious healthcare establishments where physicians may not always be present. This phenomenon creates an overflow of patients at specialized healthcare centers with diseases that could very well be treated by a general physician. As a consequence of this transition, physicians and other healthcare professionals who do provide primary care may experience low job satisfaction which could, at the same time, have a negative impact on patient satisfaction.

To quantify the cognitive impairment variable, the MiniMental Test was used. To analyze the association, the Chi-square test and Poisson regression were performed. Results: 57.6% of the patients were male and the mean age was 78 ± 8.4. 41.2% presented cognitive deterioration and 9.5% of the patients presented vitamin B12 deficiency. The factors independently associated with cognitive ...
