The resolution of triangular systems is a computational nucleus widely used in various scientific applications. This research performs the implementation and comparison of several parallel algorithms against an efficient sequential algorithm for solving triangular systems. The algorithms are distinguished by the way of partitioning the matrix and the allocation to the processors. The analysis of the behavior of the algorithms is performed in the solution of systems of linear superior triangular equations in a cluster of computers. For this, the arithmetic time, communication time, speed-up, and maximum efficiency metrics are taken into account. Experiments were performed for each algorithm with different matrix sizes on various processors. The algorithm with the best results was the one that blocks the rows of the matrix and applies a cyclical distribution in the cluster.

Nowadays, some of the most popular tools for parallel programming are Message Passing Interface and Open Multi-Processing. It is of interest to compare these tools in solving the same kind of problems, because of the use of different approaches to inter-task communication. This work attempts to contribute to this goal by running trials in a centralized shared memory architecture in the case of problems with an entirely parallel solution. The selected case study was the parallel computation of Mandelbrot set. Trials were conducted for different iteration limits, processors amount, and C++ implementation variants. The results show better performance in the case of Open Multi-Processing.

One of the factors that determine the productivity inside a company is the state of the machinery with which is counted for the production. Our objective was to design a system that allows the engineers to supervise and to evaluate the state of the machinery, so that this in sot only repaired when it doesn't work, but rather one has the possibility to take a periodic registration of the operation of the same one. With it, it'll be possible to identify the flaws of the machinery in their diverse evolutionary phases. This will allow to carry out an appropriate correction of the problem diminishing the maintenance cost and, therefore, to stop the machinery for a smaller period of time. The system that we have designed in compound for a card of acquisition that will allow to capture and to transfer the mechanical vibrations of the machinery toward analysis software that allows the engineers ...

The article shows the contributions of the Ricardo Palma Institute, through the analysis of the tradition “ Con días y ollas venceremos” (“We will win with days and pots”): the well-known historical paragraph, the description of the Lima proclamations and the meaning of the santo y seña. The reader is then invited to recognize the keys and clues left by the traditionist, making a parallelism between military strategy and the phenomenon of literary creation. Thus, the palmist narrative procedures are highlighted, especially those that correspond to the art of hiding or cheating, the suggestion and appetence of the verbal game, the modern concept of history through fiction and the blending of other elements to enhance the idea of time, space and the atmosphere of the narration. In the end the riddle appears solved with touches that ann...

The present research work aims to determine the psychometric properties of the Rosenberg self-esteem scale; It is instrumental, involving a sample with 115 higher education students from Tacna between 18 to 55 years old. Item analysis, exploratory analysis, confirmatory analysis, bifactor, parallel analysis, reliability were performed and percentiles were determined. The results indicate that items 6 and 8 are not adequate for the negative dimension and this same dimension is not adequate according to the total variance explained; In the confirmatory analysis, the GFI adjustment index was not optimal, the parallel analysis using the least squares method recommends two dimensions and explains 59% of the explained variance, it was analyzed according to the adjustment indices for a bifactor that cannot be a one-dimensional scale.

Introduction: Transversal competences constitute a key element for the academic-professional training and sociolabour insertion of university students. Numerous studies reveal a gap between the level of generic skills and the level demanded by the labor market. The evaluation of these competencies becomes essential in university education, so it is necessary to have valid evaluation tools. Objective: To develop a measurement instrument that effectively evaluates said competencies. Method: a questionnaire has been designed based on the model used by Solanes et al. (2008), using the Delphi method to assess content validity. The test has been administered to 946 students, dividing this sample into four equal subgroups to carry out two parallel analyzes and two confirmatory factor analyzes. Results: The final scale is composed of 38 items that explain 53.1% of the variance, with a McDonald...

What we understand as informality existed a long time before the term was coined. For a better understanding of the phenomenon, it is necessary to trace the origins of those activities that over time have been carried outside the legal system that formally defines the modern nation-state. The article seeks to articulate the contemporary informal phenomenon to other ways of existing outside the law that have their origin in colonial regimes, characterized by the need to implement parallel government and legal systems. It is about understanding informality as a phenomenon typical of postcolonial situations and proposing ways out from that reading.

Canine rabies is a current health problem, very important for public health, livestock production, and the economy. The objective of this research was to evaluate the Spatio-temporal distribution of canine rabies in the period 2009-2018 in Havana, Cuba. A descriptive, retrospective, passive, cross-sectional, observational study was conducted. For the statistical analysis, the Epidat software, version 3.1, based on a Microsoft Excel matrix, was used. The epidemiological indicators were determined: prevalence of cases, monthly time series, and cumulative trend of outbreaks. While, for the spatial analysis, the geographic coordinates were calculated from the centroid of each municipality. For visualization, the QGIS version 3.0.1 program and the GEOCUBA cartographic bases were used. The comparison of proportions was made for the positive cases between the peripheral and central areas, which...

In this article, we propose to analyze how healthcare personnel involved in organ and tissue procurement activities use black humor during their daily work. The objective here is twofold: on the one hand, following previous studies, we are interested in showing the role of black humor as a way of dealing with death. On the other hand, we suggest that, in a parallel and complementary way, in this context black humor exposes a performative sense as a form of agency that attempts to modify an adverse reality. This work combines the methodological tools provided by ethnography and conducting open, multi-session interviews. The events revealed during the fieldwork and interviews that associate humor and brain death show the uses, limits and ways in which black humor operates in daily healthcare work of physical and emotional complexity.

The precariousness, in the urban history of our city, has been linked to a great lack of resources thatlead its inhabitants to live in inadequate places and in contexts of poverty and disorder. Parallel tothis, it has prevailed in this history the desire and enormous effort to be inhabitants of a city that, since the middle of the twentieth century, has grown vertiginously prevailed. In Lima we can identify two types of city: the urban and the urban-cone. The first corresponds to the oldestdistricts, located in the central part, whose land has been appropriated over the years by real estate andfinancial investments. The “other city” is that built on the edges of the rivers, the skirts of the hills andthe sands, where land traffickers have taken advantage of the needs of the people. That has given rise toan enormous amount of human settlements, which with the time were consolidating the...

The aim of this article is to analyse the main factors of excessive prociclicidad of financial systems, due to increased unnecessary fluctuations in the level of activity which puts at risk the financial stability with a negative impact on the real economy of the countries. The normal real economic growth of a country goes in parallel with the growth of financial systems in general and with the growth of appropriations in particular, causing a logical and desirable prociclicidad very strong among these, always putting in evidence as the balances of payments National correspond as interdependent elements of a global monetary system zero-sum. The problem arises to the extent that there are factors inherent in the behaviour of economic agents acting within the financial systems or arising out of prudential regulation which increase volatility in abnormal form on their levels considered fund...
