Background: Community-acquired pneumonia produces inflammatory products that produce preventable cardiovascular events. Objective: To establish if Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) is a risk factor associated with cardiovascular disease. Materials and Methods: A cohort design was carried out with: patients hospitalized for a diagnosis of CAP and a control group without pneumonia (1:2), who met the selection criteria. Chi square, Relative Risk and confidence intervals were calculated for the crude and adjusted bivariate analysis and robust multivariate analysis. Results: Of the total study population, 693 patients were analyzed. The mean age was 64.1 ± 13.7 (SD) years. The most were male (61.5%). Among the classic cardiovascular factors, 96.8% used tobacco; 73.9% were hypertensive; 82.5% were diabetic and 96.5% were hypercholesterolemic. It was found that men had a higher frequency of a...

The high morbidity and mortality from Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), reaffirms it as a public health problem worldwide; The classic cardiovascular risk factors are well known, such as: Hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, tobacco. And the non-classical ones, such as Social determinants of health (DSS) and racism; that play a fundamental role. Through the present narrative review, updated literature is detailed about how DSS exert influence and its pathophysiology in CVD. In the period of one year, 10 articles that met inclusion criteria whose theme is: DSS, racism and CVD were selected. It concludes that the DSS and racism play a major role for the generation, evolution, and even fatal outcome of different cardiovascular diseases; whose influence worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Geriatric Cardiology was born as a need for the comprehensive, individualized, holistic, strategic evaluation of the elderly, in itself heterogeneous; in conjunction with their geriatric syndromes such as frailty, cognitive impairment, sarcopenia, physical dysfunction, falls; in addition to its multimorbidity, its polypharmacy; with respect to cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, coronary disease, valvular disorders; ethereal population, which in many clinical trials have been excluded, and do not have a representativeness in the development of the current clinical guidelines for the correct diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of said cardiovascular diseases; Geriatric cardiology is therefore collaborative, it is multidisciplinary, it prioritizes quality of life more than longevity in the patient, based on geriatric principles with the implementation of sca...

Background: Due to the diversity of ethical dilemmas, it is important that medical ethics be part of medical education to meet the professionalism standards of medical students. Objective: To define the state of the art of the relationship, uses and importance of medical ethics in medical students, absolving the following questions: What? Who? How? What is missing? Method: Clean search in PubMed / MEDLINE database on December 10, 2021, with the keywords: Medical Ethics, Medicine Students, Medicine and State of the art; Seven articles of one-year-old were obtained with respect to the date of the search; which were organized, cataloged, analyzed, summarized and determined important points for its presentation. Result: Medical ethics is closely related, it also has several uses and is very important in the training of medical students. Conclusion: Medical ethics must be part of the curricul...

Depression is a disease, a public health problem and is related to self-esteem, which is the degree of self-worth, which in turn influences family functionality, as an important key to the development of its members; The research is cross-sectional and confirmatory, of the non-probabilistic sample of 115 higher education students from the city of Tacna to determine the adjustment indices of the explanatory model of the Family Functionality Scale based on Selfesteem and Depression; which X2 / gl = 27.352, CFI = 0.086, GFI = 0.729, were not acceptable, only SRMR = 0.3798 was adequate, but globally we can conclude that the fit indices of the explanatory model between family functionality related to self-esteem and it is related Depression is not appropriate in higher education students from Tacna.

The present research work aims to determine the psychometric properties of the Rosenberg self-esteem scale; It is instrumental, involving a sample with 115 higher education students from Tacna between 18 to 55 years old. Item analysis, exploratory analysis, confirmatory analysis, bifactor, parallel analysis, reliability were performed and percentiles were determined. The results indicate that items 6 and 8 are not adequate for the negative dimension and this same dimension is not adequate according to the total variance explained; In the confirmatory analysis, the GFI adjustment index was not optimal, the parallel analysis using the least squares method recommends two dimensions and explains 59% of the explained variance, it was analyzed according to the adjustment indices for a bifactor that cannot be a one-dimensional scale.
