This paper aims at reflecting on the need to reorient translator training within the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in professional settings. Te role of the human translator, as we know it today, will disappear as routine and repetitive tasks will become automated by AI-driven machine translation, leaving complex text translation and post-editing tasks for the human translator. Therefore, it is imperative to exercise the human skills needed for mediation in cross-linguistic and cross-cultural contexts. Proficiency in translation technology requires higher-order cognitive functions; hence, translator must engage in critical thinking, understand the mechanics of AI models to tailor prompts to translation brief specifics, and acknowledge the potential risks associated with AI in data processing on the internet . Consequently, a training pr...

The paper we present is the result of a new method used in the classes of Accessible Translation in the Master of Professional Translation at the University of Granada. This subject belongs to the unit of Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility developed since 2014 when this Master started. Our main goal was to apply the modality of accessible translation into different tourist spaces and to innovate in the teaching of translation. The methodology was based on the application of socio-constructivist theories in Accessible Translation. Specifically, we were to teach how to prepare the audio descriptions for two architectural spaces: the façade of the Granada Cathedral and the façade of the Sagrario Church, also in Granada. The audio description of these two spaces was the ideal context (macro text) for the students to go beyond the classroom, and to experience firsthand the epistemolo...

This study corresponds to a mixed research perspective, of a propositional type, with the purpose of improving the writing of gastronomic texts in Spanish in students of the curricular experience Direct Translation I of the Universidad César Vallejo, developing aspects that favour the adequate use of the grammatical rules of Spanish and the punctuation marks in the translation of specialized texts. In recent years, a great interest has emerged in research on orthography in relation to translation (Martínez de Sousa, 2004; Veloso, 2004; Claros, 2008). In the theoretical foundation the principles of orthography established by Meneses (2016), the contributions that have referred to communication and the adaptation of uses according to the characteristics of the sender and the client in the translation process are addressed; as well as the orthographic regulations in Spanish. In order to a...

Online translator training has grown considerably in recent years. The virtual classroom modality presents new challenges for instructors, including the need to address the students’ important socio-affective aspects. The socio-affective element in a virtual learning environment directly influences the learning process. This article is based on a socio-constructivist and socio-affective theoretical foundation, a collaborative and contextual pedagogical framework, and a prior survey of recent graduates from an online translation program. We present a didactic proposal focused on the explicit use of socio-affective learning strategies in a virtual translation training program to compensate for the lack of physical presence. The purpose is to improve both the learning process and the translation product. The strategies and tactics proposed are aimed at increasing learner satisfaction, aca...

Discursive translation allows us to explain how discourses, genres, or formats are transferred and adapted from an existing medium to an emerging one. To verify this phenomenon, the present research focused on studying this process in journalistic coverage of Ibero-American film festivals. Therefore, the objective is to describe the development of the methods of discursive translation and hybridisation of journalistic genres applied to reporting on film festivals in Ibero-America. Regarding the methodology, a qualitative approach was used with a reflexive thematic analysis design, applying the semi-structured interview technique to journalists who cover festivals and event managers. Regarding the results, discursive translation is being carried out intensively by journalists who create their digital media and are hybridising a variety of journalistic genres, which is allowing the revital...
