This article aims to conduct a comparative analysis between the University of the Third Age (UNATI/UEM) and the Brazilian Charter for Smart Cities. To achieve this objective, we conducted qualitative research of a documentary nature, iden-tifying convergent aspects between the two documents. The results reveal six key points of convergence: the emphasis on quality of life for the elderly, the planning of social actions to support this demographic, access to cultural and educational services, encouragement of technological advancements, the training of professionals to care for the elderly through teaching, research, and outreach, and healthcare provisions for the elderly. The study concludes that developing aging policies and training human resources for elderly care can reshape perceptions of aging, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for the elderly.

Hypertension is associated to co-morbidities such as diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, chronic renal failure, entities that decrease life span. Peruvians suffer from arterial hypertension with characteristics similar to those of the general population. Early detection and treatment of hypertension should benefit them with years of quality of life. The occurrence of arterial hypertension in women from childhood through menopause, including reproductive years and pregnancy, is described.

The objective of the study presented was to determine the relationship between public spaces and children's learning in children from 2 to 8 years old in Metropolitan Lima area during the year 2023. The methodology for this research corresponded to the quantitative study, being of a basic type with the application of non-experimental and correlational design. According to the results of the hypothesis testing, it is likely that the two variables of the study collected are not correlated. It is advisable to continue with this study in the municipalities not intervened and expand the consultation coverage to the teachers of UGEL 3 and UGEL 7; as well as establishing in the following milestones of this research a strengthening program aimed at municipal officials and teachers of Educational Institutions that have more critical results regarding the relationship of the variables of this rese...

Introduction: A negative disposition influences the attitudes of health care professionals, since this is often based on erroneous assumptions about the usefulness of chronological age as a functional marker or with respect to elderly persons' ability to contribute to society. Material and Method: This is a study for validating an instrument, the Kogan's attitudes towards older people, and to determine attitudes towards the elderly in primary health care personnel in Tumbes. Results: A language validation was performed, the instrument was assessed by specifically appointed raters, and its reliability was also determined. Finally, the validated survey was administered to primary health care workers in Tumbes Health Direction. A 0,81 concordance coefficient (kappa) between translators and re-translators was found. The validity of the instrument was estimated on the basis of the assessment ...

Objective. To compare the efficacy of three dental methods (Demirjian, modified Gleiser-Hunt, and morphometric analysis) based on the root development of the lower third molars to determine age estimation on 13 to 23-years-old participants. Methods. The sample included 978 orthopantomographs of people with known chronological age and sex (484 men and 494 women). The root development of the molars was classified according to the indicated methods. The concordance of the sample was performed based on a second classification of 10% of the sample. The stages of root development - obtained with the aforementioned methods - and the chronological age were correlated to obtain: 1) the correlation and determination index 2) the regression formulas that predict age and 3) the difference between the real chronological age and the estimated dental age for each method. Results. The modified Gleiser-H...

Beef aging is a process that involves the interaction of enzymes and chemical transformations that directly influence changes in flavor and texture, which in turn can determine the sensory experience for guests. The purpose of this study was to compare, in terms of texture, the aging of beef brisket cuts through two techniques: with animal fat coating and dry aging, over a period of 21 days, and to determine the acceptability of end consumers. The cuts were stored under controlled temperature and moisture conditions (2 °C and 60 % relative moisture, respectively), with continuous monitoring to ensure food safety. Finally, they were cut into 2 cm thick steaks, fried to medium doneness with salt, and sensorially evaluated by a panel of 27 individuals. The results revealed an acceptance rate of 74.1 % for the meat sample aged with animal fat, surpassing the dry-aged sample (22.3 %) and the...

The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus highlighted the diversity and inequality among older people in Latin American countries. From what theoretical frameworks is it possible to undertake its analysis? How to do it from the specificities of the region? What is the role played by the State and public and social policies? This article arises from the conviction that it is necessary to review the analytical frameworks used to understand aging. It is proposed to problematize unequal old age by reviewing and articulating some theoretical premises of two approaches, that of the life course and that of the political economy of aging. It is argued that these allow a better grasp of the complexity of social reality, nurturing more accurate diagnoses about the situation and problems of the elderly in the region, which can serve as a starting point for the design of new policies and to ...

The research analyzed and reflected on the future of university teaching in a globalized-digital world. The study problem shows that a small percentage of teachers have managed to adapt to technological means, mainly in third world countries. In this sense, the objective of this study is to outline ideas to strengthen the profile of the university teacher through the responsible domain of technology. For this, we propose as a thesis, constant teacher training in digital didactics and pedagogy, which inserts us into a new university scientific era. In conclusion, university pedagogy is forced to changes that favor humanity, so thinking today of university teaching without digital technology seems wrong.

The article presents aging as a multifactorial, progressive biological process shaped by intersecting theories, with special focus on oxidative stress and free radical involvement. The Free Radical Theory of Aging posits that reactive oxygen species (ROS), produced both endogenously and via environmental exposures, induce cumulative molecular damage to lipids, proteins, and DNA impacting cellular and tissue integrity. This oxidative stress contributes to age-related degenerative diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. Although antioxidants (both endogenous enzymes and exogenous dietary compounds) offer protective mechanisms against ROS, empirical evidence on their efficacy in extending lifespan remains inconclusive, largely due to bioavailability challenges and systemic complexity. The article also addresses mitochondrial dysfunction and genomic instability especially mitochondrial DN...

In this research, we analyze the contributions of medieval authors, both Christian and Islamic, with the aim of exploring the inter- and multidisciplinary relationships between linguistics and the biological and behavioral sciences in their texts. Methodologically, we employ the Theory of Textual Series and the Theory of the Canon, through which we adopt a macro-structural, dialogical and dynamic perspective, which can be found in the interaction among primary sources. The results show that the texts of Augustine of Hippo, Averroes and Thomas Aquinas tangentially develop some of the interests of biolinguistics, neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics nowadays; in particular, they focus on language versus animal communication systems, linguistic acquisition and the relationship between mind and brain/heart.

The work reflects on the main theme of poverty in the framework of the origin and fast growth of Franciscans and Dominicans, who since 1220, without having made contact with each other, in the span of only seventy years, had a profound influence on the renewal process of the Church of the thirteenth century. Although the two founders had no relationship at the beginning, and being so different in their intuitions, history connects and acknowledges them as initiators of the called “mendicant orders” and therefore, as an expression of generational claim to an authentic ecclesial reform in the sense of a return to the sources, and in particular, to Christ and the poor. Both, perhaps without measuring how insightful and timely they were, collected central spiritual concerns of his time and correctly canalized them for the good of the whole Church. ...

In this essay, the author reflects on the topic of aging and its focal relation to the idea of death. The author integrates historical and scientific information and then complements a philosophical assessment. This is the aim of this essays. In the first part, the different conceptions of aging that have prevailed over time are explained, emphasizing the paradigmatic cases antagonistic as Plato and Aristotle, who would later central to the present. In the second part, a brief discussion of the concepts of longevity and aging, which finally allows him to associate the theme of old age with the idea of death from the philosophical framework is done as a question.

Spanish and Spanish-American logicians of the 16th and 17th centuries worked with a complex "theory of types"to account for the various kinds of beings denoted or signified in language. A. de la Vera Cruz and his colleagues supposed a many-sorted logical system where general sentences are reducible to strings of identities whose terms refer to singular things and which lend themselves to basic semantic analysis.A. Rubio worked out a theory of scientific language and applied it to logic itself, defining propositions of logic as attributions of second-ordermental relational properties to first order contents, themselves attribut able to singular objects.
