Due to the linguistic revitalization in Peru´ through the last years, there is a growing interest to reinforce the bilingual education in the country and to increase the research focused in its native languages. From the computer science perspective, one of the first steps to support the languages study is the implementation of an automatic language identification tool using machine learning methods. Therefore, this work focuses in two steps: (1) the building of a digital and annotated corpus for 16 Peruvian native languages extracted from documents in web repositories, and (2) the fit of a supervised learning model for the language identification task using features identified from related studies in the state of the art, such as ngrams. The obtained results were promising (97% in average precision), and it is expected to take advantage of the corpus and the model for more complex task...

From a sample of 1K type-2 diabetes cases, using Monte Carlo simulation and real data, we have estimated that a 2.5% might be potential candidates in being in the highest levels of progress of type-2 diabetes as manifested in nephropathy or necrosis, In addition, a 1 % of the sample might be highly sensitive to cardiovascular attack. The pattern of the sample is characterized by having low incomes per month, poor education to improve lifestyle, as well as the lack of contact with health specialist, among others. The results of this simulation might serve to reconfigure ongoing schemes of public health aiming to reduce diabetes complications and extend minimally the lifetime of those type-2 diabetes patients belonging to vulnerable groups.

The presence of soft soils creates a serious problem for road construction. This is because the subgrade has a low CBR value, leading to deformations on the road surface that can affect its stability and durability. To initiate the performance evaluation, laboratory tests were conducted to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the subgrade. In order to establish the parameters considered for developing the steel box test model, the structure comprising the subgrade, geogrid, and base was subjected to cyclic loading using a hydraulic actuator. The reinforcement used between the subgrade and the base was the TX-160 geogrid. The model was subjected to a maximum pressure of 550 MPa using a hydraulic actuator with a contact radius of 200 mm, simulating the contact radius between the base and the wheel. The deformations generated in the unreinforced design under maximum pressure ...

The objective was to identify and analyze the cognitive models of predominance that support the social representations for low self-esteem and alcohol intake in the songs of the Peruvian highlands, in a basic, documentary, descriptive and explanatory research, with hermeneutic method.  The sample consists of an anthology of 100 songs from the Peruvian highlands, being the inclusion criterion that its contents allude to alcohol and / or low self-esteem. As a theoretical basis for the content analysis of cognitive models was approached from the perspective of the cognitive-behavioral paradigm that support social representations. The results are analyzed in a theoretical articulation of two paradigms in the field of psychology; thesocial representations of Jodelet, as well as the cognitive models of the emotive rational approach of Beck and Ellis. We identify and analyze 18 cognitive model...

In a public hospital in Peru, users must go to the hospital pharmacy service to obtain prescribed medications, but it has been identified that only 47.9% of prescriptions are filled completely, which prevents the delivery of all the medications needed to comply with the treatment indicated by the treating physician. This reveals a low level of service in the hospital pharmacy, according to the evaluation carried out during the period from January to December 2022. The causes of the problem include the inappropriate prescription of medicines, in the sense that sometimes the treating physician prescribes medicines that are not included in the Drug Formulary approved by the Ministry of Health, which means that the patient sometimes has to purchase the medicines in private pharmacies. In addition, another cause is the lack of training of warehouse personnel. In this sense, the patient care m...

The paper presents a methodology for the design of propeller and generator of a biomimetic hydraulic turbine, as well as an estimate of the electrical power generated for places with low-flow water inflows in the Mantaro Valley, Junín - Perú. The objective was to model the power generated by the biomimetic turbine when it is installed in irrigation channels of 0.8 x 0.8 m2, as a proposal for a micro-hydroelectric plant, an alternative generation with renewable energy, where the flow is at least 4 m3/s. For the verification of the design, a simulator of real conditions such as Computational Fluid Dynamics was used to predict the capacity the amount of force that acts on the movement axis based on the Finite Element Method, to verify the structural unity of the design. The design methodology is based on biomimetic technology, continuity equations, Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation...

The commercial sector in Peru has a sustainable growth over time, playing an important role and projecting an average growth of 3% by 2025. For this reason, commercial companies must be in constant development to be able to meet new market demands and solve new problems. In this sense, it is crucial to identify the main causes of the problems, such as the low level of order fulfillment, which is directly related to disorganization and suboptimal distributions in the warehouse, as well as high waiting times to serve customers. This research develops an improvement proposal model based on three tools (5S, ABC Method and SLP) which has as its main objective to improve the level of order fulfillment in commercial companies, in order to improve the standard time and obsolescence. The results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of the model by increasing the order fulfillment level from 78....

A finite element method (FEM) based tool is used in this work to numerically modeling mineral-slurry like flows in a 3D lid-driven cavity. Accordingly, the context in which the referred FEM based tool is being developed is firstly emphasized. Both mathematical and numerical models utilized here are described next. A special emphasis is put on the flow governing equations and the particular FEM weighted residuals approach (Galerkin method) used to solve these equations. Since mineral-slurry flows both featuring relatively low flow velocities and containing large amounts of solid particles can be accounted for as laminar non-Newtonian flows, only laminar flows are discussed here. Indeed both Newtonian and non-Newtonian laminar flows are numerically studied using a 3D lid-driven cavity at two different Reynolds numbers. Two rheological models, power-law and Carreau-Yasuda, are utilized in t...

Several factors compel graphic design companies to improve efficiency and competitiveness in their production lines. However, these companies are not prepared to take on this challenge, as they report delays in 20% of their deliveries, caused by high setup times, low machine availability, and poor work scheduling. In this context, this study proposes a new production management model fed by the interaction of lean manufacturing tools and the Johnson scheduling method. This model has been validated by direct application at the SISSA. The results obtained were the reduction of the setup time to 15 minutes, increased machine availability up to 24%, and an efficient scheduling of its tasks. All of these reduced the percentage of delivery delays from 20% to 6%.

Textile companies in Peru are currently facing problems of low productivity and exports, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, generating a deficit in the trade balance and forcing producers to be more competitive. Reason why the national industry seeks to raise the standards of delivering products on time and fully delivering orders, increasing the level of service offered. For this reason, an improvement model is proposed for its application in the printing area of a Peruvian MYPE textile company, which will seek to improve production times and reduce reprocessing in order to increase the company's OTIF. Finally, the validation will be carried out through simulation to rein in the viability of the improvement model in the textile company and to validate the effectiveness of the proposed tools to solve the existing problems in the printing area.

The research aimed to develop a children's pumpkin compote, functional, inexpensive, preservative-free and of considerable shelf life. The effect of incorporating xanthan gum (XG) was evaluated at three concentrations (0.10%, 0.15% and 0.20%) on its rheological properties. Sensory characteristics were applied to 60 panelists (30 undergraduate students and 30 children between 2 and 3 years). Its physical, physicochemical, and microbiological characteristics were determined. With the pH values was estimated the shelf life of pumpkin compote using accelerated testing method. The product was stored at 20 °C, 30 °C and 40 °C for 0, 10, 20, and 30 days. The results show the pumpkin compote presented non-Newtonian behavior, pseudoplastic, and was adjusted to the Ostwald Waele model (R2 > 0.98). Compote formulated with 0.15% of XG was conceived as the best treatment, with a "Like" scale fo...

This research aims to enhance the classification of the rock mass in underground mining, a common problem due to geological alterations that do not fit existing methods. Artificial neural networks are proposed as a solution, which use input/output data to learn and solve problems. The process involves gathering data on rock properties and training the neural networks to identify and classify various types of rock. Once trained, the neural networks can classify the rock mass in real-time during mine design and progression, adapting to different rock types with a low margin of error of 0.279% in determining the RMR index. This research overcomes the limitations of current classification methods, providing a more accurate and reliable solution for the classification of the rock mass in underground mining. In summary, artificial neural networks are utilized to improve the classification of r...

The present research examined reflexively the causes of teacher discomfort linked to the negative results of students’ performance.   It was carried out under a qualitative approach with multiple case study design subjecting 10 university teachers to in-depth interviews. The results were disaggregated into the following categories: predominance of contradictory feelings; inability to endure  anxiety; inhibition; self- depreciation; anxiety as a dominant trait and balance; acceptance of conflict as an objective reality. It was concluded that the interviewees agreed on a contradiction between the higher education system to promote quality and the real provision of the tools and conditions to do so in practice. They manifested positions of lethargy conditioned by the need to work for the provision of resources, but with the awareness of the relevance of their social role as educators of...

We investigate a scenario inspired by natural supersymmetry, where neutrino data is explained within a low-scale seesaw scenario. For this the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model is extended by adding light right-handed neutrinos and their superpartners, the R-sneutrinos. Moreover, we consider the lightest neutralinos to be Higgsino-like. We first update a previous analysis and assess to which extent does existing LHC data constrain the allowed slepton masses. Here we find scenarios where sleptons with masses as low as 175 GeV are consistent with existing data. However, we also show that the upcoming run will either discover or rule out sleptons with masses of 300 GeV, even for these challenging scenarios. We then take a scenario which is on the borderline of observability of the upcoming LHC run assuming a luminosity of 300 fb-1. We demonstrate that a prospective international e+e- li...
