The work reviews a recurrent topic in labor and social security law in Cuba: the administration of justice in the solution of conflicts. Its objective is to support a set of proposals that contribute to the improvement of the Cuban labor justice system, in line with international trends in the matter, and that preserves the principlesand features that define it. The research employed theoretical methods, such as historical-legal, legal-doctrinal, and exegetical-analytical; and empirical methods, such as document review. As a result of theanalysis of doctrine and legislation, the main problems and challenges facing labor justice in Cuba and, in general, labor and social security procedural law are identified, which made it possible to propose some guidelines required for its future improvement given a labor law reform.

By 2050, 68% of the global population will reside in cities, driving rapid urban growth and intensifying demand for scarce ecological resources within the Water-Food-Energy nexus. Social metabolism quantifies energy and material transformations with a social focus, building upon urban metabolism. Its application in resource-scarce informal settlements (ISs) has the potential to enhance their sustainability significantly. As community dynamics evolve, acknowledging society as a dynamic variable within this framework becomes increasingly relevant. Our study employs the Multi-Scale Integrated Analysis of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism (MuSIASEM) framework, focusing on key variables: human activity, land use, money, energy, water, waste, and food. Based on surveys, interviews, GIS datasets, and statistical information, the study investigates the Ciudad de Gosen IS in Lima, Peru. The resul...

Companies that seek to be differentiated and increase their profitability, including consulting, whose principal asset is knowledge, often implement innovation processes. However, there is a lack of knowledge about how innovation develops in these organizations. This paper aims to show innovation practices in health and safety consulting companies in Bogotá. After comparing several methods to characterize innovation, one that deals with knowledge and its management was selected to develop a descriptive study. The study identified three key aspects of innovation development: creating spaces for informal knowledge exchange, using information technologies to gather knowledge generated in each service, and establishing the registry of excellence to monitor innovation activities and results. These results enable these consulting firms to allocate resources to such actions to improve t...

Accurate estimation of modal parameters of cable-stayed bridges plays a key role in evaluating the safety of these structures under dynamic loads such as traffic, wind and earthquakes. Furthermore, the difficulty in exciting this type of structure makes ambient vibration measurements a significant source of information to validate the developed full three-dimensional finite element models that are used to evaluate the dynamic response of this type of bridges. In this work, the Rayitos de Sol cable-stayed bridge was selected as a case study. To evaluate the modal parameters of the bridge, environmental vibration data were collected from strategic points on the platform. Using data recorded in the field, a series of system identification methods were carried out and then compared in the time and frequency domain. The collected data were analyzed based on only-output identification methods:...

The leadership literature suggests that a servant leadership style can reduce negative employee outcomes, even in challenging work environments such as the educational sector, where teachers play a key role in social development. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of servant leadership on work happiness and organizational justice. An explanatory study was carried out including 210 men and women who declared that they perform teaching activities, aged between 21 and 68 years (M = 38.63, SD = 10.00). The data were collected using a self-report scale of servant leadership, work happiness and organizational justice, obtaining an adequate measurement model (α = between 0.902 and 0.959; CR = between 0.923 and 0.963; AVE = 0.604 and 0.631; VIF = between 1.880 and 2.727). The theoretical model was evaluated using the Partial Least-Squares PLS-SEM method. According to the results, the hy...

The migration of creators from other platforms and the emergence of new lines of content are contributing to the thematic diversification of Twitch.tv beyond its leadership in gaming. This article explores the potential for collaboration, education, and creation of live-streaming platforms by analyzing the online coworking experience of the JaimeAltozano ‘working room’ on Twitch, launched after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. An initiative that gathered 222,172 hours worked by the community in three months. Using a mixed methods research design, the experience was studied on the basis of quantitative data, 67 in-depth interviews with users and ethnographic techniques for content analysis. The results obtained in the three phases of the research process show that experiences like the JaimeAltozano ‘working room’ are useful virtual spaces for productivity. Based on these res...

Cervical cancer is one of the main causes of death by disease worldwide. In Peru, it holds the first place in frequency and represents 8% of deaths caused by sickness. To detect the disease in the early stages, one of the most used screening tests is the cervix Papanicolaou test. Currently, digital images are increasingly being used to improve Pap test efficiency. This work develops an algorithm based on adaptive thresholds, which will be used in Pap smear assisted quality control software. The first stage of the method is a pre-processing step, in which noise and background removal is done. Next, a block is segmented for each one of the points selected as not background, and a local threshold per block is calculated to search for cell nuclei. If a nucleus is detected, an artifact rejection follows, where only cell nuclei and inflammatory cells are left for the doctors to interpret. The ...

The marking or tagging of turtles is a widely used to facilitate the monitoring of population demography, structure, and conservation of species. Even though they are used in many studies of turtle demography, the available methods are not very efficient, except for microchips (Passive Intergraded Transponder/PIT tags); however, the latter is too expensive to be used on a large scale. Here we present a viable, cost-effective tagging alternative that uses a durable plastic cattle tag and pin. Turtles in the genus Podocnemis were tagged in the Lower-Amazon region, west of the state of Pará, Amazon, Brazil. This method is highly recommended for future work on monitoring and population structure of large species of freshwater turtles. In addition to feasibility, it can be used in the form of citizen science, as the information can be obtained by laypeople and taken to researchers and conser...

Peru has several foods with high lipid content (especially oils), rich in omega fatty acids (ω-3 and ω-6) that are widely studied for their anti-inflammatory (ω-3) and pro-inflammatory (ω-6) effects. However, ω-3 and ω-6 are susceptible to oxidation resulting in accelerated deterioration of the oils. The objective of this work was to determine the oxidative stability index (OSI) of vegetable (seeds) and animal (anchoveta) oils from Peru, with high ω-3 and ω-6 contents, in order to compare oxidation kinetic parameters and shelf life. For this purpose, the Rancimat accelerated oxidation method was used, whose working parameters were: air flow (F = 25 L/h), sample weight (M = 3 g) and temperature range (T = 60-140 °C). The results indicated that the OSI values, as well as the shelf-life projection (T = 25°C) were in the following order: olive oil > chestnut > sesame > sac...
