Calycophyllum spruceanum (Capirona) is a timber species with high commercial value, however, there is limited information regarding morphometric relationships. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the morphometric relationships of a C. spruceanum plantation at different distances and depths. The degree of slenderness, degree of coverage and index of living space were evaluated through a completely randomized block design (DBCA), with a factorial arrangement of 2 x 2, spacing of 3 mx 2 m and 3 mx 4 m, depth of 90 cm and 30 cm. No statistical differences were found between treatments. In the whole plantation, the values were admissible for each morphic degree. The degree of slenderness (0.68) showed a stable trend with respect to a higher density (3 x 2 m) and a lower depth (30 cm). The degree of coverage presented a higher proportion of crown (> 0.50). The livi...

A set of onomatopoeic forms occurring in central Quechua are analyzed, in which, contrary to the traditional structural consideration, bespeak a consistent systematic organization, which is explained by traceable mechanisms of onomatopoeic conformation such as reduplication and vowel quantity. In this context, the main objective is to develop a job of real data collection in order to evaluate the behavior of the conformation of the onomatopoeias through the measurement of acoustic correlates, Such as quantity. Conceptual configurations are detected, in which certain vowel and consonant sequences are linked to a conceptual framework that expresses the way in which Quechua speakers categorize animal emissions. In this last aspect, it should be stated that it is not a matter of repetitions or imitations of animals, but of categorizations in which the association between sound and meaning is ...

Peru is located in the South Pacific seismic region and frequently experiences significant earthquakes. Among the most relevant events are the 8.4 magnitude earthquake in Arequipa in 2001, the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Ica in August 2007 and again a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Arequipa in July 2017. These events underscore the need for seismic risk studies in the region. This study is of a descriptive and correlational type, with a cross-sectional design, whose objective is to identify the areas in southern Peru with the highest risk of experiencing high magnitude earthquakes. The data come from the Geophysical Institute of Peru and cover the period from 1960 to 2023, analyzing earthquakes with a magnitude equal to or greater than 5.5 MW. The methodology of (Sadeghian, 2012), based on the semi-Markov model, was applied to predict time and location of seismic events, extending this mode...

This paper examines the association between institutional ownership and the earnings management behavior of some French absorbing firms. Using a sample of 76 French mergers and absorptions concluded over the period ranging from 2000 to 2010, we undertake to present some empirical evidence highlighting that absorbing-firms manipulate earnings relevant to the year preceding the merger-offer in the presence of institutional cross-holding. However, the presence of active institutions turns out to limit the managerial accruals discretion. The monitoring role exerted by the active-institutional investors does restrict the opportunities of earnings management around mergers and acquisitions. Further analyses suggest that the average value of discretionary accruals with regards to the absorbing firms proves to be influenced by the nature of merger deal (takeover vs. restructuring). Objective: Various studies on Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) have determined programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells, with variable results. This protein has gained relevance for its role in theimmune response in malignant neoplasms. This work aimed to determine PD-L1 immunohistochemical expression in HRS cells and its relationship with age, sex, clinical stage and overall survival (OS) in a cohort of Peruvian patients. Materials and methods: Twenty-five (25) biopsies from patients diagnosed with HL were assessed, which allowed determining PD-L1 immunohistochemical expression in HRS cells in relation to OS and clinical data of the patients. Results: All cases showed PD-L1 expression in more than 1 % of tumor cells. There was no statistically significant difference in OS when two groups were compared in terms of PD-L1 expression with a cut-off poi...
