Descripción
Sumario:This article examines the role of transmedia journalism in the Peruvian newspaper La República during the week following the death of terrorist Abimael Guzmán. Among its objectives, it identifies the predominant characteristics of transmedia journalism in the construction of journalistic content disseminated on the media outlet’s digital platforms. Using the concepts of expansion, depth, and extractability, it studies how the different elements that constitute news contribute to the elaboration of information. This is a descriptive case study, with a predominantly qualitative and applied approach, focused on the digital platforms of the newspaper La República. To this end, 17 news stories published on its website between September 11th and 18th, 2021, were analysed. Structured interviews were conducted, using the proposed methodology, with four experts in digital and transmedia journalism, including La República’s web editor. The relevance of this research lies in its ability to provide an accurate view of the implementation of transmedia strategies in a major media outlet in the Peruvian context. By studying how La República uses digital tools to enhance its content and foster interaction with its audience, this article contributes to an understanding of how media outlets can adapt to the evolution of Information
