This project seeks to explore the phenomenon of earthquakes through the use of statistical tools, in this case to characterize and search for patterns of behavior of earthquakes, which have occurred in Peru in 2017; for this purpose, techniques such as Cluster Analysis and Time Series Models are used. First, the zones of greatest seismic activity have been identified and then their main characteristics have been found, as well as the interrelation between magnitude and depth. Apart from identifying the seismic zones, a small decreasing trend in the magnitude of earthquakes in Lima in the last three months has been observed. The data have been fitted to an ARIMA (1,1,0) time series model, which has been found to be significant, both at the national level and for Lima-Ica and Arequipa. Data from the Peruvian Geophysical Institute on its web page has been used. The most active area is the A...

In this study, the Markov Chains model was applied to identify areas with the highest risk of earthquakes in the geographic area of Lima - Ica, which is considered one of the most active seismic zones in Peru. There are few research works with the application of probabilistic models to earthquakes in Peru. In the present study we have used the information of the earthquakes that have occurred in Lima-Ica from 2017 to 2019 (IGP) and we have found that the Lima-Oeste area is the one with the highest risk of earthquakes, approaching this result , for the case of Lima, with the result found by other authors, with different methods.

This paper is a descriptive-analytical study using factor analysis and cluster analysis on domestic violence in Peru based on the 2004-2007 DHS of the INEI. The conclusions show that there are different levels of domestic violence, according to groups of departments, and tentative maps of Peru are drawn up showing the variations in emotional, physical and sexual violence affecting 50% of households in the country as a whole.

The objective is to compare the mortality rates due to covid-19, between the poorest districts with the least poor districts, following the idea that the first ones would have the highest rates. To carry out this research, the poorest districts and the less poor districts were considered, for Metropolitan Lima and Callao, which were classified by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru in 2018. Secondary information from the databases of the Ministry of Health and the National System of Deaths was used. The comparisons were made through the mortality rate due to covid-19, from March 2020 to December 2021. It was found that the mortality rate, due to covid-19, in most of the poorest districts was lower than that of less poor districts. It also turned out that, among the 7 districts of Metropolitan Lima with the highest mortality rates, no poorer district was found. In...

Peru is located in the South Pacific seismic region and frequently experiences significant earthquakes. Among the most relevant events are the 8.4 magnitude earthquake in Arequipa in 2001, the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Ica in August 2007 and again a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Arequipa in July 2017. These events underscore the need for seismic risk studies in the region. This study is of a descriptive and correlational type, with a cross-sectional design, whose objective is to identify the areas in southern Peru with the highest risk of experiencing high magnitude earthquakes. The data come from the Geophysical Institute of Peru and cover the period from 1960 to 2023, analyzing earthquakes with a magnitude equal to or greater than 5.5 MW. The methodology of (Sadeghian, 2012), based on the semi-Markov model, was applied to predict time and location of seismic events, extending this mode...

The objective of this work is to characterize and look for behavior patterns, in areas with earthquake clusters, through the use of time series and the data of the earthquakes that occurred in Peru in 2017 and 2018.In this exploratory work, we have first used Cluster Analysis to form groups or geographic areas with near earthquake occurrence. Then we have found that the magnitude of the earthquakes in time, evaluated by geographical proximity zones, would be correlated with the magnitude of the previous earthquake, hence it was appropriate to use the ARIMA model (1,1,0), in which It is considered a lag and a difference to eliminate the presence of some trend, without the presence of moving average. We have identified eight geographical areas, in which the earthquakes are grouped. Among other results we have found that in the Arequipa-Tacna and Lima-Ica areas, the magnitudes of the earthq...
