This research seeks to promote the development of reading comprehension through the application of metacognitive strategies, as well as to publicize the importance of metacognition processes at different reading levels and the usefulness of designing teaching units that meet specific learning needs. For this, a qualitative - descriptive study was carried out with students in the third and fourth grades of primary school, in which the data obtained from the application of a didactic unit were analyzed, which included questionnaires in which the use was encouraged of metacognitive strategies (previous knowledge, prediction and verification and summary). Similarly, the metacognitive processes of: planning, monitoring and evaluation, worked at different times of reading (before, during and after) were taken into account. The results obtained show that metacognitive strategies make it possibl...

• Beyond the traditional view of reading as a passive skill, it is clear that reading comprehension is definitely an interactive psycholinguistic process, and should be seen as treated as such by teachers and students. • Ausubel´s proverbial claim that "the student knows" seems to be grounded on solid empirical experience. It seems to be a fact that each person has a whole body of prior knowledge and past experiences they hold in their brains and bring to the class should not be ignored. • As a student's reading skills to develop, comprehension is vital. There necessitates a deliberate, deliberate interaction between the text, the reader, and the context. • Prior knowledge is not activated automatically: we need to activate it the means by means of strategies. Strategies, then, play a central role to foster comprehension and in the long run, learning. • So as the students have...

The research arises from the scarcity of reading habits among children at the initial level in the Jorge Álvarez Educational Unit. Students avoid the literary corner, showing disinterest in the infrastructure and books, which are often outdated or unappealing to them. It is proposed to contribute to a didactic strategy based on the use of audiobooks to promote reading. It adopts a qualitative perspective supported by the inductive method. The study involved mentor teachers, whose responses were collected through an open interview, and a content analysis was conducted. The results obtained demonstrate that teachers apply reading animation techniques. However, the "tell me a story" strategy, using audiobooks based on legends, local myths, and adaptations of traditional tales with language grounded in their ethnic context, helps to arouse greater interest and motivation in early childhood ...

Research on graphic organizers and reading comprehension has taken up new reins in the knowledge about the reader's mental processes, but it has been avoided to understand the levels in the reading process. The importance of organizers often focuses on the power they demonstrate to allow the reader to analyze and map ideas, especially concept maps and mind maps. In this study, we propose to determine the effects of graphic organizers on text comprehension at the school stage. The study is quantitative of quasi-experimental design. It was developed in 42 students from the primary level of Callao, Peru. The results allow concluding that the graphic organizers improved the comprehension of texts in general. The evidences remit significant differences with scores compared at the literal level. The results of inferential understanding presented data that revealed improvement, although it was ...

The objective was to understand the training process in research as an academic practice, raising the need for strategies in the face of the weak habit of reading in training settings that allow us to respond to the crisis of interpretation of social problems. This reflection was raised from the phenomenological-hermeneutic method with a social-critical approach in a period of 2 years, training and accompanying 436 students with 145 proposals of formative research, collecting information through 5 semi-structured interviews with teachers and 50 student surveys. Therefore, this reflection is the starting point of a pedagogical proposal that promotes reading and critical reflection exercises. Consequently, the social sciences must formulate research routes that cross the curriculum, seeking in turn to guide and enhance the work of students in research procedures.

This paper is divided into two parts: the first contains a series of discussions presented in the binational seminar for Critical Elections and Social Movements, which took place virtually with professors of the University of Santiago, the Catholic University of Lima and the Catholic University of Valparaiso in July, 2021, organized in collaboration with Professor Carlota Casalino. The second part of the paper addresses the further development of those events, taking place up to the third anniversary of the “social uprising” in Chile, in a radically different political context to the one of October, 2019, which seems to be the closure of a cycle (the constitutional issue yet to be resolved). The paper does not contains a thesis, rather it is a mosaic – certainly incomplete – that connects text revisions and interpretations to personal observations and explaining proposals. It aim...

Among the basic skills needed by a modern teacher can cite those related to reading skills, writing, information management, ICT management, teamwork, among others. This set of competencies is essential because the first two not only allow access to knowledge, butalso the written communication what is learned.Unfortunately the various tests applied by the MOE since 2007, has demonstrated that teachers inthese skills show low activity levels.Similar assessments applied to college students of the Faculty of Education Section Obas also showlow levels of reading comprehension, thus showing that the problem is not exclusive reference activeteachers, but also teachers in training. In this article the critical richness of Ricardo Palma’s work Tradiciones Peruanas is approached in a deep and reflexive way. During the development, the imperfections in the Peruvian judicial system in its multi-generational development were investigated by means of a parallelism. In stories such as La Camisa de Margarita, El Alacran de Fray Gómez and Don Dimas de la Tijereta, Palma describes the corruption, injustice and abuse celebrated in his time; however, many of these competitive concepts are found in our current reality, as happened in a case that shook our judicial and political spectrum, “The White Collars of the Port”. This article not only acutely addressed the exposure of the unequal and corrupt judicial system, but also called attention to the question of what is the utility of the system we currently have.

This article proposes an interpretation of Michel Houellebecq’s novel The Elementary Particles from a gender perspective, focusing especially on the notion of masculinity in crisis. To this end, we criticize the premises with which the author develops his thesis on sexual liberation and we show and revise the identity implications with which his characters are constructed as men in crisis. Likewise, the article questions the place that violence occupies in Houellebecq’s work and in what sense it is provocative.

The homosexuality is a difficult problem for the society, because the people that not circunscribe in the heterosexuality are displaced towards the abject. In the tale «Laura era ella» of the book Cromozoma Z (2007) by Jennifer Thornidike. This problem is presented, where the lesbian female characters face the denial of desire and social rejection. Thus, this paper analyzes this issue from the perspective of Judith Butler in her book Cuerpos que importan (1993). On the other hand, the formal narrative aspect is approached from Genette’s narratological categories developed in her book Figuras III (1989) with the aim of demonstrating that gender, sexuality and sexual orientation is a social construction reinforced by performativity. Likewise, a parallel is established between the events of the literary text and the social context, because the sexual issue faced by the current youth pop...
