The systematization of a relevant experience such as the training of 21 in-service teachers with the use of an action-research component was aimed at documenting and writing what happened, as well as explaining the results achieved as a result of the intervention. The aim was to interpret the experience critically, to learn from it and improve future practice. The study used qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results suggest that the component favored teachers to question their own beliefs about teaching and strengthen their abilities to make teaching problematic. They also suggest that these changes occur in training events that include spaces for reflection and discussion about beliefs and practices.

The objective of this study is to examine enrollment trends in the Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education at the Universidad Pedagógica Veracruzana, through the analysis of enrollment statistics at the beginning of courses over the last six academic years (2019–2020 to 2024–2025), in order to identify patterns, associated factors, and their potential impact on educational planning. The study was conducted using a quantitative, longitudinal approach with census sampling, employing basic statistical tools, time series analysis, and the linear trend equation to project future scenarios for the next six academic cycles. The data obtained reveal fluctuations in enrollment over the analyzed period, an upward trend in some regional centers, and a constant decline in others, as well as the predominance of female students across all academic years and centers. Finally, three lines of action ar...

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the effect of a teacher training program implemented by the Ministry of Education called Pedagogical Accompaniment on school performance and its main determinants. Using non-experimental impact evaluation techniques, measurements are made exploiting the test results of the Census Student Assessment of 2013. The results provide evidence of positive and statistically significant impacts. However, the size of these impacts is relatively moderate. Several hypotheses could explain the effect size. These are discussed in the paper. On the other hand, having a bachelor's degree instead of a pedagogical degree and multigrade experience favors significantly the positive results of the intervention.

This qualitative study (documentary and empirical) focuses on the teaching of educational research in institutions that train basic education teachers or professors in Peru. Specifically, and within the framework of research methodology courses (CMI), the following were studied: syllabi (programs); teachers' professional profiles (resumes); and the manuals or texts used. Likewise, educational research journals were analyzed and, in a complementary manner, interviews were conducted with teachers of these subjects. The results reveal the existence of positivist prejudices (which prevent the incorporation of qualitative methods and techniques), teaching guided by manuals that transmit a stereotyped and incomplete idea regarding research, and the limited experience of CMI teachers in research deployments in the field of educational sciences. Dear Madam Editor: We have read with interest the article entitled “Theory classes: a thing of the past in the teaching of basic sciences in Medical Schools?” (1) by Enrique Ruiz-Mori, published in the last volume of your journal, where he highlights the importance of keeping a balance between three axes for undergraduate teaching of Human Medicine: theory, practice and seminar. On this matter, from our undergraduate experience, we support such approach; however, we would like to highlight the significance of clinical simulation training as a support to the practice axis in medical education. We would also like to highlight the little importance given to the study of the pathophysiology specific to the elderly during undergraduate studies in some educational programs.

Introduction: Neonatal resuscitation demands equipment for respiratory support not always available in rural areas. Innovative devices are required, and rapid prototyping allows to generate them using three-dimensional (3D) designs and printers. Objective: To evaluate the non-clinical performance and the acceptability by health personnel of a neonatal respiratory device produced by rapid prototyping. Methods: Observational study, descriptive, of proof of concept developed in two steps. Step 1: Manufacture of the device with rapid prototyping in three-dimensional (3D) scanners and printers. Step 2: Demonstration of the invention during training programs in neonatal resuscitation for health personnel in three regions of Peru (Tarapoto, Huánuco and Ayacucho). In both steps, we evaluated the performance of the device connected to a gas flow analyser. ...
