Located in the lumbar and cervical regions of the spinal cord are the neurons that produce leg and arm movements. Reactivation of these neurons can be achieved by applying epidural electrical stimulation (EES) to these specific regions. There is evidence to support the claim that EES directly recruits large diameter afferent fibres at the point of entry into the spinal cord via the dorsal roots. Recruitment of the large afferent fibres results in the activation of motor neurons in the spinal segment connected to the root where these afferents are located. By activating certain dorsal roots, it becomes feasible to regulate muscle groups, considering that the motor neurons for the extensor and flexor muscles of each joint are located in separate segments of the spinal cord.

Advances in the Internet and wireless networks and the rapid growth in the number of mobile devices have resulted in the accelerated growth of mobile commerce. We consider mobile commerce as a subset of electronic commerce in which transactions are made using a mobile terminal and a wireless network. The user of mobile equipment and its requirements play a role in the development of mobile commerce in addition to technological development and the development of regulatory frameworks. This document addresses the requirements for mobile commerce in addition to technological development and the development of regulatory frameworks. This document addresses the requirements for mobile commerce in a systematic way. First it establishes the mobile commerce scenario by reviewing basic concepts and requirements. Then it introduces a previously published metamodel that consists of four areas of in...

The transition economies of Eastern Europe present both the opportunities and challenges for companies operating in these markets. On one hand, these countries have a large number of technology savvy young consumers, and on the other, the markets must also take into consideration the macro-environment of a country and market conditions which make the use of certain market technologies more feasible and attractive compared to others. It is certainly true in terms of the timing for introduction of various technologies in a country. Drawing analogy for the “IDITAROD RACE” we develop three different “Sled Dog Team layouts” for market characteristics and technologies for three Eastern European countries, namely, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Albania. The ten market characteristics included in our research are: digital connectivity divide, economic power, demand type, privacy laws, demograph...

The explosive growth of mobile Internet services in Japan has generated great interest in understanding the reason for success. Given that the diffusion ratios of these services differ according to the countries, some studies suggest that a series of requirements must be met, and others propose that culture is one of the main factors. In addition, it is important to mention that research work to develop a model that integrates the elements that intervene in the supply and demand of these services and help us understand the reason for their adoption are still scarce. To reduce this gap, the objective of this article is to propose an integral model from the point of view of the demand and supply of the elements that intervene in the adoption of these services. For its development, a set of theories is considered: dissemination of innovations, electronic commerce, and mobile commerce, use o...

The present project is about the implementation of an autonomous mobile robot designed for logistic tasks in different areas of a company, university, etc. This robot is able to navigate autonomously in real environments, you just need to specify the initial position, the grip map of the world and the target locations, and the robot will generate automatically the optimal path to reach the target positions, and then will follow this path while avoiding obstacles such as persons, trash bins, etc. These characteristics allow that our robot can be used in logistic tasks where the robot needs to carry loads from one place to another. In this project we developed two robot models, the first one called R2d2‐R1 can carry loads of up to 3kg, and the second one called can carry loads of up to 25Kg. The algorithms implemented in this project represent the state‐of‐the‐car methods and its p...

The University of Ayacucho Federico Froebel (UDAFF) is promoting a research project that seeks to improve the teaching and learning of language and mathematics for children in early education in the Quechua-speaking population of Ayacucho, through the use of mobile technologies (cell phones and tablets). Among the expected results of this project is that children in early education will have digital educational tools (from cell phones and tablets) with content adapted to the reality of Ayacucho, and that favor the learning of language and mathematics in the mother tongue of their parents (Quechua speakers), being accessible from any Quechua-speaking community. This will also serve to reduce the weakening of the Quechua mother tongue, as well as the cultural identity of the populations of the Andean peoples.
