In a group of 21 third trimester pregnant women the intravenous glucose tolerance test in one hour was performed. For comparison a group of 15 non pregnant women matched for age were submitted to the same procedure. There is a significant lower level of fasting blood glucose in the pregnant group and also at 15 and 60 minutes during the intravenous glucose tolerance test. It is concluded that normal pregnancy is associated with a lower level of fasting blood glucose and an improvement in the tolerance to glucose. The results of the present work must be taken into account when an interpretation of glucose tolerance during pregnancy is made.

We have investigated the effect of Fursemida on glucose tolerance in 82 patients : 14 mormales , 15 cirrhotic , 15 diabetics, 7 patients with cardioesclerosis , 8 with hypertension , 8 nephropathy without failure and 15 with failure, for which administered daily 80 me . diuretic for one week. In 8 patients (4 diabetic , cirrhotic March 1 with hypertension ) occurred a pathological increase in basal glycemia. Except with nephropathy , elevated in all groups glycemia curves was observed , which was not significant in normal , diabetic , and cirrhosis . In cardiac patients the increase was noticeable but not statistically significant . In the hypertensive group the appearance of a greater number of abnormal curves was observed, mean difference at 90 ' and 120' was statistically significant. Notwithstanding, "tolerance" is still being considered a "blurred" or "evasive" virtue. In this paper. the A. propases a systematic interpretation of that notion, in order to establish a body of henneneutic matrixes that may shed light on its reach and limitations. In this analysis, tolerance tums out to be a "parasitic" notion. for its validity always depends on a previous moral conception, of an affirmative and declarative nature. In that sense, the A. suggests that the new paradigm of "recognition" may serve as the ultimate and teleological normative framework of the nolion of tolerance.

RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes inhibidores metabólicos sobre la fermentación alcohólica por dos cepas de Saccharomyces cerevisiae: 7VA y AWRI796. Estos inhibidores se producen durante la hidrólisis de materiales lignocelulósicos para la producción de bioetanol. La levadura 7VA mostró una alta tolerancia a estos inhibidores, sin afectar su producción de etanol. Además, se observaron efectos sobre la producción de glicerina y acetaldehído con o-vainillina y ácido trans-cinámico.

Industrial effluents biological treatment has obtained great important, becoming essent ial in the management of effluents, but for this, requires trained microorganisms adapted to the physicochemical condit ions of the effluent, so it is necessary to characterize effluents previously to design the t ype and treatment condit ions. Tanner y effluents of the plant, where the research was conducted, have pH within alkaline range and high BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) indicating abundance of organic matter. These features led to the search for microorganisms tolerant to alkaline conditions for a potential treatment of these effluents. El estudio buscó establecer el efecto del sildenafil sobre la distancia recorrida en la prueba de marcha de seis minutos (6MWT) en caninos sanos y con hipertensión pulmonar (HP) sobre la frecuencia cardiaca (FC) y respiratoria (FR) en una zona de gran altitud (2650 m sobre el nivel del mar). Un grupo de nueve perros con diagnóstico de HP y otro de 10 perros clínicamente sanos hicieron la caminata en una pista plana de 30 metros, sin control de temperatura y humedad. Al finalizar se la prueba se les administró 1 mg/kg de sildenafil oral. Una hora después, se repitió la prueba. Antes y después de cada prueba se midió la FC y FR mediante auscultación. Objective: To determine the relationship between frustration tolerance and resilience in university students in Lima, Peru. Methods: A quantitative approach with a simple correlational and cross-sectional design was applied. The sample consisted of 316 university students, who were administered the Frustration Tolerance Scale (FTS) and the Resilience Scale (RS). A set of statistical analyses was employed to examine the relationship between resilience (R) and frustration tolerance (FT) in university students, as well as the variations of these variables according to demographic and academic characteristics. Spearman's r test was used for inferential analysis, with a rho = 0.65, and the statistical signifcance value was p < 0.01. The aim of this study is to explore, through rankings, tolerance towards morally debatable situations. The sample comprised 254 psychology college students (male and female) in Lima, 21-year old on average. The instrument used was the Morally Debatable Behaviors Scale. It is concluded that there is a similarity in the rankings by gender and age. In terms of religion, there are differences with the group of Evangelists, who are less tolerant than Catholics regarding pre-marital sexual relations. The impact of these results in understanding the tendency to action in terms of morality is discussed.

The release of pharmaceutical products has increased in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, putting the biota at risk, being able to generate multiple impacts on organisms, from modifying enzymatic expression to intergenerational impact on exposed organisms. This study evaluated the influence of phenobarbital and ibuprofen on tolerance to the insecticide temephos in two populations of Aedes aegypti, La Esperanza (LE) and Rockefeller (Rock). Larvae I were exposed to 17.7 μg/ml ibuprofen and 200 μg/ml phenobarbital until reaching stage III; subsequently, larvae mortality to temephos (0.005, 0.025 and 0.050 μg/ml) and the enzymatic activity of esterases were determined. Small Peruvian coffee producers face low yields per hectare, caused mainly by recent rust outbreaks and by natural crossing of coffee varieties, which are sown without specific order. Coffee rust has drastically reduced areas of susceptible but high-quality cup varieties as caturra, pache, and nacional, which have been replaced by others with high grain weight, but low-quality cup.
