The present research exposes the way in which eight students selected from virtual environments of a Peruvian institute of higher education perceive their self-regulation processes in the planning stage. The approach is qualitative with a phenomenological interpretative design. Based on the interview of eight students enrolled in the distance learning modality. The main finding is that students have their own beliefs about themselves that help motivate them permanently in the assignments they must complete. Determined by both external and internalfactors, these help academic tasks to be valued in a positive way, so that their completion gives them satisfaction.

Context. Knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes toward palliative care (PC) constitute barriers to its access. Few studies have focused on the intrinsic relationship between these variables, and none has examined the relationship between them and self-care self-efficacy. Objective. To examine the direct and indirect effects of self-care self-efficacy, knowledge, and beliefs on attitudes toward PC. Methods. A cross-sectional predictive study was conducted. Self-care self-efficacy, knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about PC were analyzed using information from the Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS 5, cycle 2, 2018). Data from 1,162 participants were considered. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to represent the statistical mediation model with latent and observable variables. Results. The structural model presents positive coefficients indicating that self-care selfeffi...

Occupational self-efficacy has gained attention because of its importance in understanding the effects of psychosocial factors at work, but because of its relevance, it is necessary to study it in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Occupational Self-Efficacy Short Scale Form (OSS-SF) is a measure of individual variability in selfefficacy within the work context and has been used in some studies in Latin America. The aim of this study was to obtain evidence of the validity of the OSS-SF for 214 Peruvian teachers and to evaluate its internal structure and associations with other constructs. The sample, composed of 214 teachers (Mage = 44, SDage = 10), was selected using nonprobabilistic convenience sampling and evaluated via online forms. Nonparametric item response theory was used. Among the results, a unidimensional structure and high scalability at the item and scale levels were ...

The study analyzes teachers’ self-perceived digital competence at a private university in Lima, Peru. A non-experimental comparative level design was used through non-parametric techniques. The DigCompEdu CheckIn tool of 25 items was applied with a Likert scale. The results indicate the need to (a) validate the questionnaire and have a measure of the construct with solid and stable psychometric properties; (b) compare these findings with those found in other MetaRed Peru institutions, as a point of contrast, to develop strategies that encourage teachers to continue their digital literacy; and (c) identify which interventions in informal settings help teachers develop their digital competence. © 2020 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

End-to-end methods facilitate the development of self-driving models by employing a single network that learns the human driving style from examples. However, these models face problems such as distributional shift, causal confusion, and high variance. To address these problems we propose two techniques. First, we propose the priority sampling algorithm, which biases a training sampling towards unknown observations for the model. Priority sampling employs a trade-off strategy that incentivizes the training algorithm to explore the whole dataset. Our results show a reduction of the error in the control signals in all the models studied. Moreover, we show evidence that our algorithm limits overtraining on noisy training samples. As a second approach, we propose a model based on the theory of visual attention (Bundesen, 1990) by which selecting relevant visual information to build an optima...

Digital self-efficacy is the degree of confidence to efficiently use technological tools. This type of self-efficacy reduces digital anxiety and increases students' performance in virtual environments. This justifies the objective of the present research, which is to analyze the levels of self-efficacy and digital anxiety, as well as their influence on virtual educational performance in students of a private university in Lima, Peru. Using a non-probabilistic convenience sampling procedure, 116 students participated, 105 females (90.5%) and 11 males (9.5%) between 17 and 50 years of age (MeanAge = 26.78, SD = 7.02). The results showed that students perceived to agree in having optimal levels of digital self-efficacy and efficient virtual educational performance. However, they indicated neither agreement nor disagreement in feeling digitally anxious. In addition, it was observed that digi...

Introduction: Various drugs are being used against the symptoms caused by COVID-19, without being approved for these purposes. Many of these drugs have small safety margin and very risky adverse effects on health, a reason why they require prescription and, above all, medical monitoring and follow-up. Unfortunately, there are many cases of self-medication in Peru and Bolivia that require prompt management. Objective: To carry out a systematic review of the scientific literature that presents evidence about the effectiveness and adverse reactions of the drugs currently used against COVID-19 in Peru and Bolivia. Methods: Qualitative research based on the systematic review of the scientific literature available in PubMed, as well as in the national regulations of Peru and Bolivia related to the etiology, epidemiology, symptoms, as well as treatments approved and discontinued by both countri...

The objective of this research was to assess the impact of a waterproofing admixture on the porosity and capillary absorption of self-compacting concrete with water/cement ratios of 0.40, 0.45, and 0.50. The study began with the characterization of the component materials, followed by the calculation of six different mix designs, including three standard concrete mixtures and three concrete mixtures with the waterproofing admixture. In the fresh state, the temperature and fluidity of each mixture were measured. Thirty cylindrical specimens measuring 15x30cm were then produced and cured for 28 days following ASTM C-31 standards. Porosity and capillary absorption were determined according to ASTM C642. The results for porosity in the standard concrete samples with water/cement ratios of 0.40, 0.45, and 0.50 were 11.57%, 12.16%, and 13.06%, respectively. In contrast, the samples with the wa...
