Walking through the streets of the center of Santiago de Chile after the social revolt of October 2019, one can see the mural interventions that commemorate and denounce state violence, confronting the government's silence and censorship on the human rights violations during those months. Among these, it is not uncommon to see urban art that refers to consumer culture, especially Japanese animation series (anime) and manga (Japanese comics) made by organizations such as Otaku Antifascista or Tatakae Chile. However, the phenomenon draws attention because it is replicated not only in the context of the protest in Chile but also in countries like Peru and Bolivia, where anime fans, widely known as otakus, build a new language of social protest. This essay reflects on this articulation, evaluating the spatial displacement of the otaku referent from its consumption in private (closed) spaces ...

In this paper the relevance of understanding the different meanings of culture in the counseling profession is presented. Two approaches to the concept of culture as they relate to counseling are suggested: the first approach stresses the organisational culture of the institution where the counselor works; the second —the multicultural approach— calls for the complex recognition of the variety of ethnic cultural backgrounds of those involved in the counseling situation. Professional practices are analysed as means for the reinforcement of present conditions or as ways for changing them. The concepts of empowerment of and advocacy for our clients are put forward as main components in the challenging new roles of the counseling profession. Implications for counselors are suggested.

This article aims to contribute to the discussion on Corporate Social Responsibility from the Latin American context, which requires the inclusion of elements that are not adequately addressed in the American and European literature and whose relevance is lower compared to what happen in geographical areas of countries with a higher level of development. In that sense, some key elements are presented in the characterization of a particular context such as Latin American, as is the case of corruption, to understand the nature of the links between business and society, its effects and motivations. In the literature review, several concepts were found whose definition was ambiguous and which can cause theoretical inaccuracies that do not help the description of social phenomena. Likewise, the criterion for selecting the concepts has been that of instrumentalization; that is, highlight those...

It is proved that the works by Maxim Gorky are inseparable from the socio-historical reality of the early XX-th century. Maxim Gorky is a writer, whose work has evolved throughout his career. One of the values in the works by Maxim Gorky is the image of the hero - the hermit, presented in the "Tales of 1922-1924". The semantic space of the hermit hero image exists at the intersection of the semantic fields “social status”, “nature”, “hero image”, “love” and “service to people”.

One can easily find discrediting accusations between users with different political affiliations or ideological orientations on social media. The objective of this article is to affirm that these practices are neither superfluous nor secondary, but rather fundamental in the formation and consolidation of political identities of those who participate in these discussions. This article reviews up-to-date academic literature about three recent trends in the dynamics of political discussion on social media (the polarization of the political debate, the focus on personalities and figures, and the trolls’ practices) and, using tools taken from Netnography, it explores and applies these concepts to the Peruvian context. Consequently, the article offers an outline about the daily political dynamics on social media, how users take sides and disputes happen, and how this serves to the (re)produc...

Among them, the issue of Venezuelan migration and its vulnerability during the pandemic has not been the exception. For this reason, a debate was generated, both among the population and in the media, regarding Venezuelan migrants and whether they should also receive social support from the State. In this article, our objectives are to analyze the discourses generated in their tweets by Peruvian users of the social network Twitter regarding the debate on social support for Venezuelan migrants, and to identify the strategies and resources used by users to elaborate these discourses. To do so, we selected an online survey proposed by the Twitter account of the news channel ATV+ Noticias and collected the most representative tweets from the comments section to elabo...
