In Peru only treat 29.1% of urban domestic wastewater is performed. This treatment is carried out at 143 industries, pouring the rest into rivers, lakes and the sea, so it is necessary to give more importance to the management of water resources. The textile industry, which uses large amounts of dye pigments not properly treat their effluents, being part of the problem. The Fenton process is an alternative for the treatment of effluents from the dyeing process, the most important pollutant azo compounds. The Fenton process provides the ability to reuse and / or recycle water with high efficiency (86%) in a few minutes.

This paper describes the influence of process variables to produce orange vinegar. Orange juice was fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisiae until reach 14% v/v. The biooxidation was carried out with Acetobacter sp., in submerge culture using a laboratory scale fermentor. In order to avoid the inhibitory effect of ethanol on acetic acid bacteria, the orange wine was diluted to 6% v/v with a mineral solution. It was performed a factorial design 2k to study the influence of variables. It was studied air flow rate/agitation at levels of 0.3-0.6 vvm and 200-400 rpm and the effect of air flow rate/temperature at 0.4-0.6 vvm and 25-30°C, respectively. Duplicate treatments were carried out and the results were evaluated in terms of productivity and fermentation yield. Statistical design (p-value<0.05) was analyzed using Statgraphics Centurion XV Corporate software. Treatments performed at 20...

This work proposes the formulation of biofilms out of orange peel, using pectin as a crosslinking agent and glycerol as plasticizer. Also, it was determined the impact of the addition of bacterial cellulose obtained from the static fermentation of kombucha (Manchurian fungus) in such biofilms. It is noticeable that the orange peel has been subject previously to an extraction process by steam distillation to recover its essential oil. Experimentally it was determined that an appropriate biofilm formulation has the following mass percentages: orange peel, 15; bacterial cellulose, 5; pectin, 40; and glycerol, 40. Such biofilm showed the following property values: tension stress at break, 5.53 N/mm2 ; elongation at break, 51.60 %; and, water vapor permeability, 0.0273 g.mm/(h.kPa.m2 ). Pectin content affected significantly the properties of the biofilms due to its interaction with glycerol. ...

This research aimed to characterize orange (Citrus sinensis) peel flour from the Valencia variety for its optimal use in the agro-industry. The study evaluated the physicochemical and phytochemical properties of orange peel flour subjected to drying temperatures of 60 °C and 70 °C, along with drying air velocities of 3 m/s and 5 m/s for each temperature. The drying process was conducted using a fluidized bed dryer. Statistical analysis revealed that the optimal temperature was 60 °C and the most suitable air velocity was 3 m/s for better preservation of physicochemical properties, specifically crude fiber (13.43%) and ash content (4.50%). Regarding phytochemical properties, the best results were achieved at 60 °C with a drying velocity of 5 m/s, yielding higher retention of polyphenols (782.52 ± 0.01 mg EAG/100 g) and antioxidant capacity (12.19 ± 0.28 DPPH/µmol ET/g of sample).

Biosorption kinetics of cadmium (II) on cross-linked pectin extracted from orange peels at 20°C was studied, obtaining an equilibrium sorption capacity, q , of 99.56 mg/g in pH range e 4.5-5.5. Pectic material was extracted through acid hydrolysis (pH: 1.5, temperature: 90°C, time: 30 min) and crosslinked with formaldehyde acidic solution in order to diminish hydration capacity and swelling, as well as polysaccharide leaching when found in aqueous environment. Biosorption kinetics experimental data showed greater coefficients of correlation (R ) on pseudo second order mathematic model. Physical chemistry parameters: particle size influence (125 µm - 500 µm and 0 µm - 125 µm) and biosorbent and metal concentrations in solution were evaluated in the biosorption kinetics. Pseudo second order -4 -1 -1 constant, k = 8.0x10 g.mg min , of biosorbent with particle size 125-500 µm increase...

Thin films of zinc selenide (ZnSe) modified with Fe2+ and Cu2+ ions were obtained by the electrodeposition method and were studied as catalysts in the photoelectrocatalysis process for the degradation of methyl orange with active species of chlorine. The characterization of the synthesized material indicated the presence of microparticles with a size of 0.5 μm. The X-ray diffractograms showed the (111) and (220) planes of ZnSe, as well as the (111) plane of FeSe. Likewise, the Raman spectra showed characteristic vibrations of ZnSe. The presence of Zn, Se and Cu were corroborated by the EDS technique, in a non-stoichiometric proportion. The ZnSe and ZnSe-Fe films showed absorption maxima close to 545 nm, while the ZnSe-Cu film showed an energy reduction up to 595 nm. The compound ZnSe showed a good electrocatalytic activity with total discoloration in 45 min, when introducing Fe2+ and Cu...

The application of edible coatings obtainable from alternative biodegradable materials has gained attention as a promising treatment to prolong the shelf-life of fresh-cut vegetables. Thus, this work aimed to develop a biodegradable coating based on fruit and vegetable residues flour. Immersion coating strategy was studied on the quality of minimally fresh-cut carrots during refrigeration storage by means of weight loss, color variation, pH, titratable acidity and soluble solids content. Better performance was obtained for coated carrots, which exhibited a tendency to have lower whiteness index than uncoated counterparts and enhanced overall quality. Despite a drop in color saturation expressed by chroma values (varying from 59 to 46) was observed, color index presented a positive value for all samples (varying from 13 to 15) indicating orange color preservation throughout storage. Altho...

This study aimed to characterize some of the ingredients typical of the ceramic phase Ichma Beginner, it is used exclusively for qualifying order stylistic parameters, to establish categories confrontations and contrasts. We believe that this is even necessary to create appropriate methodological tools to achieve results of greater explanatory scope and accuracy. In this process shows that the conformation of the different styles that make up the complex stylistic Ichma called Initial, involving both internal and external factors. Each has a different degree and mode of penetration and influence. In the second instance can be seen that the styles are not organized the same way. So much so that the form and decoration (where there are elements associated with the technique, composition and design), may each of them an independent movement, and to no stylistic traditions related to particu...
