Due to the neoliberal international trend, the public higher educational institutions in the world have modified their actions in order to adapt themselves to the new ways stipulated by the international economic financing organizations, transforming the academic forming of what the public education in the world used to represent. This investigation tried to find out if the formation of the current public university students shows a tendency towards the individualistic profile that privileges the satisfaction of their personal interest before the interests of the community, which is characteristic of the neoliberal citizenship. There was a total participation of 379 people in two samples to achieve this objective, with which it was determined that although this neoliberal formation does not exist in a generalized way in the groups analyzed, there is indeed a particular tendency that was ...

The purpose of this study was to translate the Bedtime Procrastination Scale (BPS) into Spanish and to evaluate its psychometric properties. A sample of 419 students from three Peruvian universities participated in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to evaluate the original model of the scale, which initially showed poor fit indices. Improved fit indices were obtained after removing reverse-scored item, χ²(5) = 9.240, CFI = .998, RMSEA = .045, TLI = .997, and SRMR = .013. The internal consistency of the scale, examined using the omega coefficient, was found to be satisfactory (ω = .86). Moreover, measurement invariance analysis supported gender invariance, indicating that the scale functions equivalently across male and female participants. Additionally, convergent validity was assessed by examining the correlations between the BPS and insomnia, as measured by the A...

Depression is an increasingly common mental health condition worldwide and is influenced by various factors such as anxiety, frustration, obesity, medical issues, etc. In severe cases, it can even result in suicide. This study aimed to utilize machine learning (ML) models to categorize and forecast student depression. The research involved analyzing a dataset of 787 college students through a series of steps, including cleansing, model training, and testing using techniques to classify and predict student depression. Three ML models were employed: logistic regression (LR), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and decision tree (DT). The findings revealed that the LR model achieved the highest accuracy in prediction, with a rate of 77%, 70% recall, and 72% F1 score. Moreover, the study highlighted that two out of five students experience mild depression, around 90% of depressed students do not seek ...

Higher Education in Cuba is a particular transformational process; indeed, the development of knowledge in the society requires new demands in the universities. One of this demand is precisely the educational inclusion of young university students, for the achievement of the necessary professional skills in their performances. Particularly, those who have a diagnosis on stuttering and the ones who are studying pedagogical careers, need special attention by a language specialist (speech therapist) so that they can achieve their independence required by the exercise of the profession from a quality education. The speech therapy cabinet office is an excellent place to favor the educational inclusion of young university students with a diagnosis of stuttering, however, there is a limited level of knowledge by teachers, students and managers about the role they play in this regard. This artic...

The present study aims to validate the Global Perceived Stress Scale on a Peruvian college students sample, involving young scholars of a state-funded program. The adaptation process involved a double translation from the original version, a linguistic comparison using the scales adapted in Chile and Mexico, and judgement criteria, as well as a pilot test. Participants were 332 college scholarship students. Results with the Confirmed Factorial Analysis confirmed the bifactorial model of the EPGE-13. Moreover, convergent and divergent validity was done with the SPANAS test. Likewise, the scale demonstrate adequate reliability (internal consistency, α = .79 for the factor of eustress and α = .77 for the factor of distress). Demographic results indicated that there was more perceived stress in women than in men. There were no significant differences in stress according to birthpl...
