It was investigated, in students of the third grade of elementary school of Metropolitan Lima and Piura, if there were significant differences in the development of cognitive processes involved in reading and writing, considering the variables of gender, socioeconomic status, school management and town of residence. To gather data, it was adapted previously a Battery of Cognitive Assessment for Reading and Writing, establishing its reliability and validity. The results indicated differences in the cognitive processes examined in view of the variables, socioeconomic status, management of the school and town of residence.

Collaborative writing is a complex task that involves diverse regulatory processes. In this case study we address the resolution of Problem-Based Learning through a report written collaboratively. Ten students from the Human Biology degree and their tutor took part. We collected data inside the classroom (the writing assignment, the assessment rubric, and audio recordings of 3 tutorials) and data outside the classroom (screen recordings of the students’ activity on their computers, the team’s WhatsApp group conversation, the final text of the written work, a focus group recording and the evaluative comments of the marking teachers). The assessment of foreign language writing is a complex and manifold process, which entails that this field of research be approached from different perspectives. This paper arises from the need to research the teaching criteria when assessing writing in a foreign language (English) in a university context. This research is part of a larger biannual research project called «Criteria for the assessment of foreign language (English) writing at the higher level» (supported by the Secretariat of Science and Technology of the National University of Córdoba, Argentina). In this particular work, we will analyze the data collected in a meeting at which nine teachers explained how they scored five written essays under summative assessment. We believe that this analysis will foster reflection on the selection, weighting and uniformity of assessment criteria to be applied in the future.

In Colombia, teacher-researchers have integrated information and communication technologies (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as Chat GPT and Chat PDF, which have transformed the way science education and academic writing are taught to undergraduate students in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). Esta pesquisa analisa os principais desafios e avanços no uso de chatbots de IA generativa para a geração de textos com erros linguísticos para fins pedagógicos. Especificamente, ela descreverá a metodologia seguida para a reprodução desses erros em espanhol por meio de textos argumentativos. Esses textos apresentavam erros induzidos com o chatbot, que simulava um aluno real, além de adicionar outra versão corrigida pela mesma ferramenta. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el efecto de la sesión de aprendizaje “Let’s Write Creatively” basado en el método Grammar Translation para el desarrollo de la producción de textos escritos en inglés en los estudiantes del 3er grado sección “A” del nivel secundaria de la I.E. Nº 0523 “Luisa del Carmen del Águila de Reátegui” del distrito de la Banda de Shilcayo, 2018; así como, establecer el efecto de la variable dependiente en las dimensiones de gramática, cohesión y coherencia de los textos escritos. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar los resultados sobre el uso cooperativo de Facebook obtenidos en una prueba de desempeño para planificar textos académicos en esquemas de redacción. Who writes the news in the Chilean press according to gender? Who are the sources, male or female, in the Chilean press? Is there a relationship between the gender of journalists and the gender of the sources in the Chilean press? This article studies the gender of the Chilean newsroom and their sources in 12,113 news through a quantitative method with a computational social science approach. This method combines web scraping and natural language processing techniques to gather and preprocess data, facilitating the exploration of complex social phenomena. Results show important biases in journalists and source gender. From a sample of 158 journalists, 99 were men (63%) and 59 women (37%).
