There is acceptance and establishment of methodological stereotypes by professionals at the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara, Cuba. This is due to theoretical ignorance about the interrelation of linguistics with the methodology of research in the conscious expression of scientifi c language. Th e situation has served as a motivation to these authors to reverse it through the design and development of a course aimed at these university students. The essence of the course lies in the linguistic explanation –applied linguistics–, linked to methodological stereotypes in scientifi c writing. However, in parallel with the teaching process, a study was conducted to perceive possible conceptual changes in students. Hence, the objective of: is research is to expose the experience and educational-research results inherent to the referred course. Methodologically, the heuristic pr...

Translation of scientifi c writing constitutes a diffi culty at Medical College from Villa Clara, Cuba; mainly, in spelling, lexical and syntactic levels: misuse of foreign words, articles, prepositions, and overuse of passive voice and gerund. Thus, a postgraduate course directed to these professionals was designed to eradicate such defi ciencies; therefore, the authors intend to show its results. Theoretical methods were applied: analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction and empirical ones: observation of the course development and a broad document review of scientifi c abstracts written by Cubans and foreigners related to Health. Consequently, the results were very favorable; 12 out of 15 students were good graded, and three were excellent. Moreover, these revealed constructive opinions about the course using PNI technique (positive, negative, interesting). It can be highlighted that...

Cacophony is a language vice that is committed in oral and written forms. It consists of an unpleasant sound for the ear, originating from the unnecessary, recurrent or close repetition of phonemes in the same sentence or from the inappropriate combination of the different components of a sentence. It constitutes a very frequent linguistic fact in the professional context of the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara, Cuba. Hence, the objective of the work was to analyze the recurrence of cacophony in the linguistic expression of university professionals. It represents an essentially qualitative, exploratory, descriptive and synchronous study, where the universe and the intentional sample were made up of 20 research projects, framed between 2021 and 2023; in addition, theoretical methods were used ―analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction―; empirical methods ―observation and ...

The identity of a territory is built day by day and is reflected through its history via the expression of culture and language. Therefore, linguistic-cultural preservation represents a pillar of the nation's own identity. However, facts coexist contrary to good cultural policies that protect the native and national identity: the invasion and dissemination of globalized foreign cultures and a polluting lexicon for Spanish. Other ―ungrammatical― linguistic phenomena are added, supported by a certain “fashionable stereotyped language”. Unfortunately, great responsibility for this falls on the mass media, where professionals who use this type of language that permeates and echoes in social work; it is observed, even, in the scientific, and academic language used by teachers. This can be confirmed orally and in documents written by professors from the Villa Clara University of Medica...

The authors of this work have been doing for a long time a synchronic study of emerging language phenomena that have become socially recurrent, up to the point of being stereotyped. This situation is also in Medical College from Villa Clara, Cuba, whose professionals, of course, are part of it. Hence, the objective is: to analyze some harmful and recurrent phenomena in current professional language. There were applied mainly the theoretical methods of analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction; besides, the empirical methods of observation and document review. Along with it, the systematic exchange with professionals of the Institution has been useful. The most signifi cant phenomena detected are: indiscriminate dividing of the noun in male and female genders ―welcome…―, tendency to verbalization of nouns and adjectives ―to open (opening); to make negative (negative)…―; inadequa...

The main objective was to identify the epidemiological and zoonotic risk of fluvial and terrestrial molluscs in the Health Area Roberto Fleites, municipality Santa Clara, Villa Clara province, Cuba. Snails were sampled monthly during 2011-2012. Mollusc species with greater frequency and distribution were Praticolella griseola, Tarebia granifera and Pseudosuccinea columella. The most medically important species were: P. griseola, Physella columella, Subulina octona, Physa acuta, Pomacea poeyana and Galba cubensis that are intermediate hosts and transmitters of parasitic helminth diseases. A greater abundance of molluscs in orchards organoponic in relation to bodies of water sampled was observed; however, higher species richness of molluscs was obtained in water bodies in the orchards-organoponics. There is an increased epidemiological risk-in organopónicos orchard, where 96.49% of mollus...
