Th ere is a widespread situation in the Villa Clara Medical School. Th is has to do with an increase of verbose language spoken by professors and the incorrect use of vocabulary and syntax, which has resulted in stereotypes due to recurrent use. Th is fact aff ects the professional communicative competence and logically contradicts the principles and rules of scientifi c communication. Th erefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the contradiction between the abovementioned linguistic irregularities and the characteristics of scientifi c language. La situación tiene que ver con el incremento del lenguaje verboso por parte de los docentes y el empleo inacertado de un léxico y de una sintaxis que han devenido en estereotipos por el uso recurrente que se les ha dado. The identity of a territory is built day by day and is reflected through its history via the expression of culture and language. Therefore, linguistic-cultural preservation represents a pillar of the nation's own identity. However, facts coexist contrary to good cultural policies that protect the native and national identity: the invasion and dissemination of globalized foreign cultures and a polluting lexicon for Spanish. Other ―ungrammatical― linguistic phenomena are added, supported by a certain “fashionable stereotyped language”. Translation of scientifi c writing constitutes a diffi culty at Medical College from Villa Clara, Cuba; mainly, in spelling, lexical and syntactic levels: misuse of foreign words, articles, prepositions, and overuse of passive voice and gerund. Thus, a postgraduate course directed to these professionals was designed to eradicate such defi ciencies; therefore, the authors intend to show its results. Theoretical methods were applied: analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction and empirical ones: observation of the course development and a broad document review of scientifi c abstracts written by Cubans and foreigners related to Health. English proficiency in health care is crucial for access to scientific information and international collaboration. This study evaluated the impact of complementary materials (audios, interactive videos, technical guides and simulations) on the development of communication skills in English in 12 second year students of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Faculty of Technology-Nursing, Villa Clara, Cuba, during 2024-2025. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was implemented, combining quantitative (language competence evaluations) and qualitative methods (survey and participant observation) methods. The results after the intervention were superior in the quantitative order, for example, in the oral test the progress from A2 to B1 was 75% of the students.
