Prevention and transboundary environmental damage. Both categories are the basis of along and unfinished international debate on the proposal of the Draft Articles for theDetermination of International Responsibility for the Injurious Consequences of Acts NotProhibited by International Law (international liability in case of loss caused by atransboundary harm resulting from hazardous activities), prepared in the InternationalLaw Commission in 2001. However, before and after the approval of the final text of theaforementioned project, States either regionally or globally have made efforts to codingfor the definition, prevention and punishment of this type of damage. The presentinvestigation has as purpose to carry out an examination of said international instrumentsthat from 1963 to 2018 have contributed substantially to the study of this type of damages, and to the delimitation of the for...

This article analyzes the valuation of damages in the Peruvian legal system. In this framework, it is established that this evaluation can be divided into three forms: the judicial, the conventional and the legal, noting that they have similarities and differences among them. After that, the author focuses on the judicial valuation of damages, especially on the problems that are present in this process. As can be seen, three complex cases can be found in judicial field. First, whether it is necessary to distinguish between the fault and the intent of the debtor in determining the damages and the loss for the breach of the obligation, or whether the same criteria should be applied in both cases. Secondly, what are the effects of the damages that are or can be provided for in the Peruvian Civil Code, and what are their consequences? Finally, whether the concepts of foresight and unforeseea...

Faced with increased demands for medical malpractice, there is the problem of identifying a strategy that addresses immedíate damage caused by errors or adverse events loc for healthcare practice. The report identifies 3 thesis, two already known: to establish insurance funds, and one that is based on the simple use of the budget allocated to health facilities, as indeed is often done, in many cases, though unofficially. The assessment of what happened in our reality, and an evaluation of the ethical, are used to determine the best strategy would be to use the budget as the other two more expensive health processes for administrative payments to the intermedíary in the case of insurance, or investment resources, in the case of funds and having to use the same time health workers to the respective health services. Road damage, such as potholes and cracks, represent a constant nuisance to drivers as they could potentially cause accidents and damages. Current pothole detection in Peru, is mostly manually operated and hardly ever use image processing technology. To combat this we propose a mobile application capable of real-time road damage detection and spatial mapping across a city. Three models are going to be trained and evaluated (Yolov5, Yolov8 and MobileNet v2) on a novel dataset which contains images from Lima, Peru. Meanwhile, the viability of crack detection through bounding box method will be put to the test, each model will be trained once with cracks annotations and without. The YOLOv5 model was the one with the best results, as it showed the best mAP50 across all of out experiments. It got 99.0% and 98.3% mAP50 with the dataset without crack and with crack annotations, correspondingly..

Cryogenic freezing is considered one of the most efficient techniques for fruit preservation, as it extends shelf life while preserving sensory and nutritional characteristics. Its effectiveness lies in the formation of small, uniform ice crystals that maintain cell structure, reducing physical damage and limiting microbial and enzymatic activity. Success depends on factors such as freezing rate, fruit type, storage time, and thawing process. In mangoes, rapid freezing methods like Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) have shown to better preserve texture, color, and antioxidants compared to conventional techniques. In blueberries, liquid nitrogen application maintains high levels of vitamin C and firmness, although it can cause surface cracking if the process is not carefully controlled. In kiwis, the effects vary according to soluble solids content and fruit region, influencing cold toleran...

Peru is one of the countries most exposed to catastrophic events worldwide such as: floods, debris flow, tsunamis, earthquakes. Particularly, earthquakes are generated by the interaction of the Nazca and South American plates known as the subduction process and shallow faults. Likewise, another major problem that Peru is going through is informality in construction, which, added to a large earthquake, could bring with it great economic losses and human lives. Therefore, these problems have motivated the development of this research, which aims to evaluate the seismic risk of buildings in the district of Ayacucho - Peru. In this sense, the probabilistic seismic threat is evaluated using the R-CRISIS program, accompanied by geophysical studies such as MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves) that allow the soil to be characterized based on shear wave velocities. Furthermore, the seism...

Owing their wide range of exceptional properties, for example thermal conductivity values of more than 3000W/(mK) and strength in the range of 100 GPa, Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) have recently gained much attention as reinforcement for composite materials. Considering the practical application in metal matrix composites (MMCs), tranferring those favourable properties from nano to macro scale represents a main challenge. Methods of the powder metallurgy route show promising results so far, but also lead to long process times and damage of the tublar structure of the CNTs due to prolonged ball milling times. At this point, the application of Friction Stir Processing (FSP) for fabricating CNT-reinforced MMCs offers the possibility to reduce process times and realize the required reinforcement at the relevant location of the component. The process uses a specially designed tool with a pin to pl...

Water is an important element for almost all biological process and several living organisms like fishes, have their habitat in such a kind of aquatic ecosystems. In the city of Villahermosa, Tabasco Mexico is located the Lagoon of las Ilusiones, which is the habitat of several taxonomic groups like fishes. Unfortunately, the imminent pollution of the water body has been documented and recently evaluated the water well-being by cytological and genetics studies through the use of naïve fish species which are a common. The results of several studies show the terrible conditions of water quality, the effects it manifests on the hematopoietic genetic/cellular components; due to the presence of intracellular damage and various atypical levels of chromosome counts.

The integrative approach to care for patients demands training to evaluate frequent chronic problems in the outpatient clinic. Patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus and asthma can be approach using models of evaluations such as the TOPIC that allows to order the evaluations in a structured sequence of four mayor tasks: processing of the information, development of an adequate physician-patient-family relationship and integrating information and learning for life. Processing information implies four sub-activities in which we evaluate patient´s expectations and concerns, severity and control of conditions, adherence and side effects of treatments focusing on damage to target organs and comorbidities. Applying this model can help physicians and their patients to be more efficient in managing chronic problems considering the short time available for ambulatory care.

Mashua (Tropaeolum tuberosum) is an Andean tuber rich in phenolic compounds and glucosinolates, known for its consumption that allows the prevention and/or reduction of getting diseases. The present research evaluated the effect of different types of post-harvest management (sunny, bleached, and freeze-dried) on glucosinolate content and its relationship with myrosinase activity. It is also important to note that when plant cells are damaged and glucosinolates meet the plant's myrosinase, which hydrolyzes them and degrades them to other compounds. In the present research, the types of glucosinolates, the content of glucosinolates and the activity of myrosinase of the purple variety of fresh raw mashua and in mashua treated by several types of processing were evaluated, including the previous treatment (sunny and unscrewed), the boiling treatment and the microwave treatment, with whitenin...

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) allows assessing the structural damage in observed buildings through different methodologies, which observe changes in the structural behavior immediately after an earthquake. Some methodologies assess the structural damage by observing its global capacity curve obtained through the displacement and acceleration in all stories, calculated using wavelet transform and double integration process. Due to limited resources, some floors are instrumented, and non-instrumented stories response could be estimated by additional procedures, for instance the spline shape function. In this paper, different arrangements of sensors in the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital (HERM) are evaluated to find the best possible configuration to estimate the global capacity curve and the interstories capacity curves. A 14-story building in the HERM is analyzed, and the optimal...
