Objetivo: Determinar cuáles son los factores de riesgo predictivos para la no efectividad de uso de Betalactámicos en pacientes hospitalizados por Infeccion del Tracto Urinario (ITU) en el servicio de medicina interna del Hospital Santa Rosa de Lima. Métodos: Estudio observacional, Analítico, de casos y controles, realizado en el Hospital Santa Rosa ; 280 pacientes hospitalizados con ITU, 140 casos y 140 controles, en el periodo enero-diciembre 2016 fueron incluidos, las variables a analizar fueron: Edad, Sexo, Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2, Enfeemedad Renal Cronica y hospitalizaciones previas. Introduction: Due to the presence of Covid-19 in the world, several countries, including Peru, have taken measures, including compulsory social isolation (quarantine). The inability of people to carry out their daily activities has directly affected their lifestyles. A population quite susceptible to these changes are university students. Objectives: To develop a validation scale to know what are the changes in lifestyles during the quarantine period in a population of university students from Lima, Peru. Results: The final scale was made up of 25 items. Bartlett's sphericity test was significant (3514.19, gl = 300, p <0.001) and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin sample size adequacy indicator was adequate (0.845). Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a group of cardiovascular risk factors characterized by the presence of low-grade chronic inflammation. Among all the inflammatory biomarkers associated with MetS, the best characterized and well standardized is C-Reactive protein (CRP). Objectives: To evaluate the association between C-Reactive protein and metabolic syndrome in the Peruvian population of the PERU MIGRANT study. Objective: To evaluate the validity of the risk test of the American Diabetes Association (ADA Test) as a screening for hyperglycemia in a sample of workers in Lima, Peru. Methods: Cross-sectional study of diagnostic tests. Secondary analysis of the data generated by the electronic health record of an occupational polyclinic, carried out in January and February 2020. The sample was made up of workers from different areas who attended for their occupational medical evaluation. Prediabetes was considered with a fasting glucose ≥ 100 mg / dl but less than 126 mg / dl. Results: 397 subjects were evaluated. The prevalence of hyperglycemia was 29% (115/397). Objetivo: Evaluar el perfil de sueño en una muestra de estudiantes universitarios durante el tiempo de cuarentena en Lima, Perú. Métodos: Estudio transversal analítico realizado a través de una encuesta virtual durante el período de aislamiento social en el Perú, consecuencia de la pandemia por el COVID-19. Se utilizó el Cuestionario Oviedo de Calidad de Sueño (COCS). Resultados: Como resultados principales se encontró que según las variables sociodemográficas: sexo, zona de residencia, carrera profesional, ciclo académico, mostraron cambios respecto al sueño. Respecto al análisis comparativo del COCS en la dimensión satisfacción subjetiva, insomnio e hipersomnia no existen diferencias significativas en todas las variables sociodemográficas con excepción de la variable cambio (p < 0.05).

“Background: The metabolically obese normal-weight (MONW) phenotype has been considered a risk factor for different chronic diseases, but its role in high blood pressure (HBP) is still unclear. The aim of the study is to determine if the MONW phenotype constitutes a risk factor for hypertension in Peruvian adults belonging to a 5-year cohort. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. A secondary analysis from the database of the PERU MIGRANT study was carried out from the MONW and non-MONW cohorts; after a 5-year follow-up, the appearance of HBP was evaluated in the subjects of both cohorts. Introduction: Piura, located in a seismic zone, faces challenges related to food security. The aim of this study was to analyze aspects related to food insecurity in the region following the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that occurred in 2021, within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A secondary analysis was performed in 177 people exposed to the earthquake in Piura. Food insecurity was assessed with the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale. Its association with insomnia, resilience, anxiety/depressive symptoms, and general variables were determined using generalized linear models. Objectives To determine the association between internet addiction disorder (IAD) and anxiety and depressive symptomatology in high school students in two private schools in Chiclayo, Peru, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and methods Analytical cross-sectional investigation of 505 adolescents from two private schools. The dependent variables were anxiety and depressive symptomatology, measured with the Beck Adapted Depression Questionnaire (BDI-IIA) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), respectively. Objective: We aimed to evaluate the association between sleep quality and erectile dysfunction in young university students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in men aged 18–30 years from Universidad Ricardo Palma, Lima, Peru. The survey comprised the International Index of Erectile Function, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Berlin questionnaire, and questions related to sociodemographic data. Prevalence ratios were estimated with generalized linear models. Results: Of 381 participants, the median age was 23 years. Half of the students (50.9%) had poor sleep quality, of which 72.7% had mild erectile dysfunction and 20.6% mild to moderate dysfunction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, university students have adopted measures that completely transformed their educational environment, and this has generated an increase in psychological stress. The present study aimed to identify the factors associated with anxiety, depression, and stress in students at a university in Peru during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study in students in Lima, Peru. Introducción: Los estudiantes universitarios se han visto obligados a cambiar sus hábitos debido a la cuarentena por la pandemia COVID-19. Objetivo: Desarrollar una escala de validación para conocer los cambios en los estilos de vida durante la cuarentena en estudiantes universitarios de Lima, Perú.
