Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to analyse the influence of capital efficiency on the economic growth of Bangladesh using the Harrod-Domar (H-D) model. Design/methodology/approach: We use annual data from 1980 to 2019 for this paper. Three steps are taken in the data analysis. First, to check the existence of a unit root, we use the augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test and to determine co-integration among the variables, we use the Johansen-Juselius co-integration test. Next, for long-run estimation, we use the dynamic ordinary least square (DOLS) estimator. The sensitivity of the long-run estimations is further checked by the fully modified OLS (FMOLS) and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) estimators. Lastly, we use the Granger causality test to determine the long-run causality among the variables. Findings: The long-run co-integration test validates the co-integrating rela...

An electrochemical sensor (CPE-IIHP) was developed for Cd(II) using a carbon paste electrode (CPE) impregnated with an ion-imprinted hybrid polymer (IIHP). A CPE-NIHP was also prepared for comparison. DPASV was used to optimize the sensor response and quantify Cd(II). The sensor presented a wide linear range from low concentrations of Cd(II): 1 to 100 ?g L?1 and high concentrations of Cd(II): 2.75 to 5.0 mg L?1. Ions such as Co(II), Pb(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Sn(II) and Cu(II), showed no variation in the Cd(II) signal. The CPE-IIHP was successfully applied in river and drinking water analysis, revealing the great potential for its application.

This study examined the feasibility of removing dexamethasone (DEX) from aqueous solutions using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). The binding energy, used to evaluate the affinity between imprinted molecule and functional monomer, was calculated for DEX using molecular simulation via the density functional theory method. From this approach, three different functional monomers were tested: methacrylic acid, N-(Hydroxymethyl) acrylamide, and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate designated as MIP-DEX1, MIP-DEX2, MIP-DEX3, respectively. All of them were prepared by the precipitation polymerization method, with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate used as the crosslinker. Moreover, the kinetics of adsorption and adsorption isotherms were evaluated using different models to assess the adsorption mechanisms of DEX on polymers. The results showed that equilibrium between the polymer and DEX is reache...

The present work shows the synergistic application of reflectance spectroscopy and core-shell molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for rapid quantification of tartrazine in soft drinks. Studies evaluated the performance of the MIPs synthesized in the presence of silica nanoparticles unfunctionalized and functionalized with [3-(methacryloyloxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane. Although the use of functionalized silica nanoparticles promoted the highest adsorption capability of tartrazine, the material was found to be less selective when it was applied in real samples. Interestingly, the most accurate results were obtained via the application of the MIP synthesized in the presence of unfunctionalized silica nanoparticles (SiO2@MIP). The optimized core-shell MIP was also characterized by Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The use of direct reflectance spectroscopy in the analyte det...

The present work reports the successful synthesis of a novel Pb2+ ion-imprinted polymer (Pb-IIP) based on a rhodizonate-like selective ligand by precipitation. Three functional monomers, namely acid acrylic (ACRY), 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPSA) and allylamine (ALLY), were chosen by computer simulation using density functional theory (DFT). The materials obtained were applied for the selective removal of Pb2+ from aqueous solutions and were characterized by Fourier transform Infra-red (FTIR), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The results obtained from the adsorption experiments performed under optimal conditions were in good agreement with the computational design and showed that IIP-AMPSA exhibited a relatively higher adsorption capacity for Pb2+ (51.84 mg g?1) than IIP–ACRY (31.02 mg g?1) and IIP-ALLY (12.90 mg g...

This work describes the preparation of a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) platform on polyethylene terephthalate (MIP-PET) via RAFT polymerization for analyzing tartrazine using a smartphone. The MIP-PET platform was characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) techniques, Raman Spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and confocal microscopy. The optimal pH and adsorption time conditions were determined. The adsorption capacity of the MIP-PET plates with RAFT treatment (0.057 mg cm−2) was higher than that of the untreated plates (0.028 mg cm−2). The kinetic study revealed a pseudo-first-order model with intraparticle diffusion, while the isotherm study indicated a fit for the Freundlich model. Additionally, the MIP-PET demonstrated durability by maintaining its adsorption capacity over five cycles of reuse without significant loss. To quantify tartrazine, im...
