Objetivo: Obtener un mapa bacteriológico y determinar la susceptibilidad antimicrobiana de las bacterias más prevalentes en las áreas de Cirugía General, Medicina Interna, Pediatría y Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Nacional PNP Luis N. Sáenz. Material y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo, basado en la revisión de los registros médicos y los informes del laboratorio, entre enero y diciembre de 2014, de todos los cultivos realizados en ese hospital. This work aims to isolate the 28KDa proteinase from the parasite Fasciola hepatica (Linnaeus, 1758). This cysteinyl protease was purified by classical methods such as the ammonium sulphate precipitation, G-25 and G-75 gel filtration chromatographies, affinity chromatography with thiol sepharose 4B and SDS-PAGE 12% electrophoresis. The enzymatic activity of Cathepsin L was monitored in each step of purification using a specific substrate. The cysteine proteinase was observed as a pure and homogenous band in the SDS-PAGE gel. The recovery percentage was 12.7%, with a specific activity of 337,500 umol, min-1 mg-1 and a purification factor of the enzyme of 260. The present survey analyses the psychological characters of 26 conciliators of an Arequipa city´s group. For this, the personality has been evaluated by the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, the coping types with the Coping Types Questionnaire by Lazarus and Folkman, the emotional intelligence with the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire and to value some clinics manifestations of personality we used the MINI-MULT. The results refers that the Arequipa conciliators have sanguine personality in predominant wise, emotional intelligence is higher, and they use the coping, the acceptation of responsibility and the distancing as preferential brave types. El presente estudio, tiene por objetivo, realizar un análisis psicométrico de la Escala de Satisfacción en el Trabajo de Warr Cook y Wall (1979) en una muestra de trabajadores que radican en la ciudad de Arequipa (Perú). Se evaluó a 454 sujetos con diferentes ocupaciones utilizando la versión adaptada al español de Pérez-Bilbao y Fidalgo (1995). Se encontró que la prueba tiene una estructura unidimensional que se ajusta mejor a los criterios estadísticos empleados mediante el análisis factorial confirmatorio. Asimismo, cuenta con un índice de confiabilidad alto (α= .945) y con correlaciones ítem-test superiores a .589.

El objetivo del presente estudio fue valorar la prevalencia del síndrome de burnout en cuidadores de pacientes con discapacidad infantil de la ciudad de Arequipa. La muestra estuvo conformada por 45 cuidadores (91.42% mujeres y el 8.8% varones) con una edad media fue de 30.26 años (D.E.= 11.42). Se aplicó el Inventario de Burnout de Maslach, de 22 ítems que cuenta con una adecuada evidencia de confiabilidad para personal de salud (α= 0.721). Los resultados reportan que los cuidadores de personas con discapacidad tienen un perfil caracterizado por ser mujeres que son familiares de las personas que tienen a su cuidado, y que presentan altos niveles de agotamiento emocional y baja realización personal. In Peru 18 species of nectarivorous bats are reported, however little information about their diet is available. This study is the first report about pollen consumption of the nectar-feeding bat species Glossophaga soricina, Lonchophylla hesperia, and Anoura geoffroyi in the dry forest and the Pacific Tropical rainforest of the National Park Cerros de Amotape, Tumbes. We analyzed 21 stomach contents and identified eigth pollen morphotypes belonging to the families Bombacaceae, Cactaceae, Fabaceae, Solanaceae, Rubiaceae, Myrtaceae, Malvaceae, and Rosaceae; and found floral evidences of the chiropterophilous syndrome in Bombacaceae, Cactaceae, Fabaceae, Solanaceae, and Rubiaceae. The Pampa Hermosa national sanctuary (SNPH) is an important area because it preserves relict montane forests of the Peruvian central Yungas where studies of bat’s diversity are scarce. Our objective was to document the species diversity and composition of bats communities in Pampa Hermosa and make comparisons with other Peruvian Yungas forests ranging between 1200-2000 m. We sampled four localities: Podocarpus (1900 m), Los Cedros (1600 m), Santa Isabel (1450 m) and Nueva Italia (1370 m) by using 560 mist-nights. Our results show 36 species distributed in families Phyllostomidae (30 spp.), Vespertilionidae (5 spp.) and Molossidae (1 sp.). We study the diet and trophic structure of 36 bat species from the Pampa Hermosa National Sanctuary. Faeces samples and gels with pollen were analyzed; seeds, pollen and remains of arthropods were found in the feces. Bats were classified in six functional groups. We found in the diet of the sedentary frugivores (FS), frugivorous nomads (FN) and nectarivores (N), 70 morphospecies of seed and pollen; in the diet of the aerial insectivorous (IA) and foliage gleaners (IR), nine morphospecies of arthropods. The construction of an electrolytic reactor for its use in a laboratory with the possibility of varying the number of electrodes, simultaneously the volume capacity of the electrolytic, and its application to a gamma of electrosynthesis process, has determined the election of a rectangular model, so in this way it can be defined the operative variables when addressing a specific process. The job requirements were taken into account during the design, which were the operational simplicity, the maintenance reliability, and the faculty to fit easily taking into account all the involved costs. Therefore, the election of a filter press type modular cell will allow increasing the number of electrodes and the capacity as it is required, without changing its dimensions.

En este artículo paso revista a lo que ha sido uno de los más importantes movimientos indígenas de América Latina en los últimos 25 años. Después de abordar la protesta de los huasipungueros en 1961, examino, con mayor detenimiento, el levantamiento indígena de 1990, verdadero punto de quiebre en la historia de dicho movimiento. Ese evento catapultó a la CONAIE, y luego al Movimiento Pachakutik, a ocupar un lugar importante en el escenario político ecuatoriano hasta ganar inesperadamente las elecciones en alianza con Lucio Gutiérrez en el año 2003. Su participación en un gobierno, con el cual rompió a los pocos meses, por estar en oposición a la política neoliberal que implementó, le produjo un desgaste político enorme, del cual viene recuperándose.

Objectives: To determine peridural bupivacaine analgesia for labor pain relief and its effect on maternal and fetal hemodynamics. Design: Prospective, longitudinal, descriptive study. Setting: Obstetrical Center, Maternal and Perinatal Specialized Institute, Lima, Peru, a teaching hospital. Patients: Sixty patients in active phase of labor. Interventions: Twelve mL of 0,25% bupivacaine was given to the women in labor through epidural catheter. Visual analog scale was used to evaluate pain during labor. Maternal and fetal hemodynamic changes were described before and following epidural analgesia. Supplementary dosis of 6 mL 0,25% bupivacaine was used.
