Peru has a fragmented health system, which limits access to its health services because the people seeking medical services can only be treated in specified health centers that are determined by their health insurance. Additionally, this causes each health provider to count and manage their processes and information in an isolated and independent manner. In the Peruvian case, this generates an overload in public health services, since, of the 83.3% of insured nationwide, 73.1% belong to the public sector. Therefore, a process architecture is presented, based on the Zachman framework, that integrates the processes of health services (outpatient, hospitalization and emergencies), as well as an Information Technology (IT) process that supports them. The architecture aims to ensure that level III hospitals in Peru have standardized processes and information, as well as to guarantee their app...

In this paper, we present a novel system that combines process discovery and conformance checking to optimize resource usage in the operations area of banking companies. Our proposed system improves upon previous solutions by integrating real-time process mining techniques to reduce resource consumption in banking operations. The use of real-time process mining techniques in the proposed system enables faster error identification in processes, emphasizing the importance of such techniques for banking companies. The system is comprised of two integrated process mining techniques, as reported in existing literature. Process discovery involves two key components: dataset generation and process visualization. Additionally, compliance checking involves process monitoring, alerts, and reports. To validate the effectiveness of our system, we conducted a stress test, which was evaluated by exper...

In this paper, we propose an optimization model for medical services processes to reduce waiting time using process mining. In medical services, there is a high percentage of dissatisfaction with medical care due to the processes related to appointment booking and waiting time for medical consultation. As a result, patients change medical services due to the urgency of the symptoms they suffer, generating distrust in health services in Peru. Through a medical information system, events of medical care processes are collected for analysis using the Celonis tool. The process mining discipline uses the discovery of the study process to identify existing bottlenecks in the process and violations that are included when monitoring process events. The proposed model is based on identifying the existing bottlenecks in the processes, which are appointment booking and office care, as these process...

This research evaluates the relationship of social capital with the integration of processes in the supply chain management in companies of the real sector in Colombia, mediated by their organizational size and the uncertainty of the environment. For this purpose, 232 companies associated to the real sector in Colombia were surveyed and with the information obtained, multivariate analysis of structural equations was made with the SPSS and AMOS tools. As a result, there is a significant direct relationship between social capital and the integration of processes in the supply chain management, thus social capital was identified as a fundamental determinant in efforts to integrate the supply chain, unlike the mediating variables analyzed (size and uncertainty of the environment).

The Peruvian construction sector, especially its SMEs, faces critical inefficiencies in supply chain management, particularly in procurement processes. Past research has shown that these inefficiencies lead to significant cost overruns and delays. This study addressed these challenges by implementing a procurement model integrating Lean Construction, Kaizen, and Just-In-Time (JIT). The main challenges identified were excess material purchases (20.12% of cost overruns) and late deliveries (25.84% of operations). The model reduced late deliveries from 25.84% to 8.95% and purchasing errors from 8.49% to 3.33%, confirming its effectiveness. The research has substantial academic and socio-economic implications for Peruvian SMEs, providing a solution that enhances efficiency and reduces operational costs. Further research should explore broader applications of this model and strategies to prom...

The usefulness of the European model of integration is currently subject to debate and the North American integration process has been largely ignored as a comparative framework. The asymmetrical relationship between Canada and the United States began a long time before NAFTA, and the study of this process could shed light on the usual problems faced by Latin American countries. This article attempts to encourage discussion about this topic. Particularly, there is evidence for a substantial and positive change in Canadian productivity at the time of the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA). However, the enactment of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) does not seem to have had the same effect as the earlier treaty.

This commentary focuses on the importance that DNA sequence analysis has in biodiversity studies and the need for improving administrative procedures regarding biodiversity research in Peru. Given the rapid loss of biodiversity and natural resources in many areas of Peru, research aimed at identifying, characterizing, and describing biodiversity is a priority for developing appropriate conservation and mitigation strategies. For cur-rent and future research on Peruvian biodiversity and conservation, we emphasize the importance of using an integrative taxonomy approach, including the study of evolutionary processes associated with areas of high biodiversity and endemism. Additionally, it is essential that governmental institutions responsible for review-ing permit applications and research plans, focusing on biodiversity research in Peru, recognize and support studies that incorporate an ...

By means of this article we will analyze the usefulness of the labor agreement and the job description in the performance evaluation process, so as to integrate the tools provided by the Human Resources discipline and the Labor Law dispositions. This article addresses the steps that must be taken into consideration in order to penalize employees that breach their labor obligations. This includes the implementation of an action plan and the final decision of the dismissal of an employee. For these purposes, we will explain the significance of the labor dispositions related to serious mistakes.

This contribution analyzes the role fulfilled by International Labor Standards and, specifically, by social clauses in Free Trade Conventions and Agreements, as a way of preventing social dumping and building a social dimension in the globalization and regionalization of economy. The author offers the case of the MERCOSUR Labor and Social Declaration, issued in 2015, which amends that of the year 1998, studying its contents, legal efficacy and supervision mechanisms. He emphasizes the fact that social charters generally limit themselves to recognizing fundamental or basic labor rights already found in the legislation of the member countries, but which are nonetheless useful for hindering attempts to deregulate or relax social and labor provisions.

In 21st-century Peru, decisions about development —even at high levels of government— still do not fully consider the environmental dimension. This occurs despite progress in environmental institutions since the 1990s, and despite official discourses and instruments that are ostensibly aligned with sustainable development. This omission has been especially evident at critical moments in the last decade, when existing environmental regulation has been weakened. This essay proposes that the policy coherence framework for sustainable development (PCSD) —still rarely used domestically— makes it possible to identify different points where the integration of environmental issues into development decisions needs to be strengthened. In this sense, it is argued that the most urgent pending agenda refers not only to the environmental policy space, but also to points in the policy process w...
