Tetanus is a condition affecting the central nervous system which is characterized by muscle spasms caused by toxins from Clostridium tetani, an anaerobe bacillus which is usually found on soil and whose spores may survive in the environment and lead to infection when contaminating open wounds. The objective of this case report is to review on the basic characteristics of this condition, focusing on functional improvement with the administration of type A botulinum toxin for generalized spasticity and lockjaw (trismus). We present the case of an 81-year-old woman with generalized tetanus and lockjaw after she suffered a head injury, she fell and hurt her head, with no loss of consciousness; and that was 15 days before admission. During her hospital stay she was managed by a multidisciplinary team. The patient did well, and she is currently being followed-up in the outpatient clinic.

The objective of this study was the characterization of the learning strategies of higher education students of a university in Lima. To achieve this purpose, the focus is qualitative, which allows us to interpret the same practice of the students. The methodology of this research, included direct observation and in-depth interviewing, and was aimed at understanding the reasons for practice in certain strategies. The conclusion of the research is that the metacognitive strategies, the processing of information and the control of the context become the fundamental principles at the moment of learning by students.

Refractory depression is defined as a depressive disorder that does not respond to psychotherapy and two periods of pharmacological management. During adolescence, depression may have different manifestations than in adults, with therapeutic interventions based on the same premise but with variations for each age group. The prevalence of refractory depression is showing a progressive increase, a reason for which the search for more effective management is fundamental. In the midst of the initiatives to address it, the use of ketamine has been proposed, and several authors have detailed different therapeutic doses, duration of treatment and adverse effects. We present the case of a patient with long-term depression, who had undergone multiple therapeutic interventions, without symptomatic control, and who is currently receiving a ketamine regimen with promising results.

This article analyses the legal aspects related to the use of limited resources in the telecommunications sector, with a particular focus on radio spectrum and numbering. For this reason, various aspects related to the relevance of the radio spectrum are evaluated, including its demanial nature, the administrative authorization for its use, and its regulation. It also discusses crucial numbering issues, such as the Fundamental Technical Numbering Plan (PTFN), the management and supervision of this resource, the procedure for its allocation, the rights and obligations of numbering holders, and number portability. In this context, it is important to point towards a legal framework that guarantees an efficient and rational use of these resources by the sectoral administration, given their scarcity and the growing demand for services that depend on them.

The corporal piercing is defined as the penetration of an ornament to holes made in the skin and/or mucosa, using an acute instrument that creates an opening through which the ornament can be applied. The use of oral piercing in young people is gaining strength because it is considered an expression of art in the oral cavity. The Vehicle Routing Problem considers the design of sets of minimal cost routes, from an originated point knowned as deposit to an ended point. In this problematic situation, a key element in delivery systems is the sequencing of transport units, determined by the requirement of customers. The aim of this article is to present a new method of solving the problem of allocation of routing companies with the need to distribute products, through new models that use different algorithms. The model designed from the analysis of a set of metaheuristics, develop viable options to solve the daily problem of how to allocate and distribute products, from the company to customers, with efficiently and effectively ways.

A review of the abrasive air used in restorative dentistry is carried out and a clinical case of the use of this technology for the placement of pit and fissure sealants is presented.

This article analyzes the factors influencing the use of digital marketing among women entrepreneurs in Arica. It highlights the growing relevance of digital marketing in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while also identifying barriers such as perceived costs and lack of technological knowledge. The study concludes that a strategic approach is essential to maximize the potential of digital tools and improve sales and customer relationships. Surveys and factorial analysis were conducted to identify five key factors: economic, technological, lack of knowledge, strategy, and cultural. These findings underscore the importance of promoting training and access to resources, enabling women entrepreneurs to fully harness the advantages of digital marketing in their businesses.

Introduction: Giant omphalocele is an abdominal wall defect of 5cm in diameter or more or presence of liver herniation. The use of botulinum toxin has been described as an adjunct therapy in the reconstruction of the abdominal wall in adults. Its use in pediatric patients is still little described but it does show safety and efficacy. Case Report: 40-week gestational-age female patient with a giant omphalocele with a wide defect measuring approximately 9 centimeters, in whom at 75 days of life botulinum toxin injections were applied around the defect and operated a week after for definitive abdominal wall closure which was achieved without tension or post-operative intercurrences. Conclusion: The use of botulinum toxin is shown to be highly effective in achieving abdominal wall closure in infant patients with giant omphalocele.

First pregnancy and live birth occurs in assisted fertility clinic in Lima, Peru then obtained from the use of letrozole to stimulate ovulation in a patient 35, with secondary infertility of three years of development and two daughters of 8 and 7 year old. The patient was stimulated letrozole 2.5 mg / day, orally, from third to seventh day of the cycle, associated with hMG, 75 IU / day, IM, from the seventh day in use in October 0000 IU micronized progesterone as luteal support . The case demonstrates the usefulness of letrozole to induce ovulation as an alternative to other ovulation-inducing agent.

The study minimizes the cycle waiting time of loading and hauling equipment between loading points of the underground mining operation and unloading points on surface. For this purpose the existing loading and hauling system is first analyzed. Present system consists of four underground loading points and 4 unloading spots on surface. The waiting cost is estimated and then the increment in loading points underground is proved for reducing haulage cost which is a bearing component of the mining cost. By applying queuing techniques the possible reduction in waiting cost is obtained by increasing the number of loading points. The information gathered comes from loading and hauling times measured at site. Evaluated variables were number of loading points vs. waiting time cost of haulers and unit cost of underground ore and waste bins.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is making inroads into academia, transforming the dynamics of higher education. This study aims to describe the integration of AI in college writing and research in the classroom. To this end, a case study was proposed where the use of AI tools was implemented in expository and argumentative writing courses, and a qualitative methodology was adopted to detail the planning and implementation phases. The results, obtained from a questionnaire applied to students at a particular Peruvian university, reveal positive perceptions towards the assistance of AI in improving their writing skills. The paper concludes that the incorporation of AI in university academic writing courses is feasible and beneficial for the development of communicative competencies.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is an in vitro fertilization technique in which a sperm is injected through a micropipette to achieve fertilization. This technique, widely used in assisted reproduction, causes a moderate deformation of the oocyte membrane, which becomes harmful in some cases. The Piezo-ICSI technique minimizes this deformation because the Piezo device generates submicron vibration in the ICSI micropipette that crosses the zona pellucida without generating any resistance. There is no prior evidence of a pregnancy obtained through this technique in Latin America. Therefore, we present this report as the first case of a 16-week clinical pregnancy with present heartbeat from an embryo fertilized using the Piezo-ICSI technique.
