Thirty four nose decorations from the tomb of the Lady of Cao has been analyzed by EDXRF-analysis and transmission measurements. These nose decorations are made partially on gold, and partially on silver. EDXRF-analysis showed that, while gold areas all show a similar composition, silver areas exhibit an erratic composition, and also an unusual high percentage of gold, up to 35 %. To verify that this erratic composition is not depending on surface enrichment processes, X-ray transmission measurements were carried out, which gives the bulk composition of the samples. These last measurements completely confirm EDXRF-results. Therefore the conclusion could be that a high quantity of gold was added intentionally to the silver alloys, for not clear reasons, may be to avoid the oxidation process typical of high concentration silver in silver alloys.

In order to investigate the levels of antibodies and antigen in sera and in broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) samples, female rats immunosuppressed or non-immunosuppressed female rats and rats experimentally infected with Strongyloides venezuelensis and their young offspring were used. For this, enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted using alkaline parasite extracts and anti-L3 polyclonal antibody produced in rabbits. Findings revealed that young offspring from immunosuppressed females presented significantly higher positivity for IgG detection in serum samples and in BALF. In addition, antigen detection in serum samples was also more evident in offspring from immunosuppressed rats. Thus, we reinforce the transmammalianroute of Strongyloides infection in experimental model infection.

The transmission plan includes binding projects approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which must be implemented over a 10-year period to ensure the quality, safety and efficiency of the national electricity system. This planning is carried out within the framework of the state duty to ensure the efficiency and continuity of the electricity supply. This document evaluates the criteria of generality, innovation and consumption to determine whether the transmission plan is a normative or administrative act. The general character of the plan is reviewed in accordance with these criteria, which does not necessarily determine whether it is a rule or an administrative act, since there are acts that have a general character and rules with particular application. The plan is also derived from a law, but requires other acts to be implemented. Finally, the plan is ended by fulfilling its pu...

This doctoral thesis consists of a collection of three independent chapters. The first chapter reports the results of a laboratory experiment designed to investigate whether antisocial behaviour is driven by nastiness, defined as an intrinsic pleasure derived from lowering the well-being of others. As we shall see, people are not nasty for the sake of being nasty. Rather, people become nastier when lowering somebody’s welfare is monetarily beneficial. The second chapter explores the effects of the relative price and monetary stakes on the Dictators’ decisions in three different contexts. The data shows the experimental context matter: the effect of the monetary stakes is strong and significant on giving, but is weak and insignificant on taking. The third chapter presents an experiment designed to investigate the role of ex-post acquisition information in Sender-Receiver games. The an...

Transmission of SARS-Cov-2 in the current pandemic is assumed to be through small heavy droplets that quickly fall to the ground, do not stray far from the emitter, however episodes of super- spreading in closed environments, and current studies that they show that when speaking, a patient can produce a large number of small drops that are suspended for up to a quarter of an hour, which would make air transmission possible, should be taken into account when restarting activities , improving ventilation and avoiding crowds in closed spaces.

We studied diverse minerals found in the magnetic fraction of clays from medicinal sediments collected in two Peruvian lagoons, La Milagrosa (MML) and La Mellicera (MELL). The clay fraction was separated by the sedimentation method. The analytical physical techniques we used were energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy (TMS). We complemented them with a physical chemical analysis to determine texture, pH and electrical conductivity. We have observed, via XRD, minerals such as illite, calcite and maghemite. Specically, for MML, by XRD we observed two minerals phases: quartz and dolomite. TMS allowed us to observe the magnetic fraction of the sediments. In the spectra we observed four magnetic sextets and three paramagnetic doublets. The sextets were assigned to hematite/goethite, two sites of magnetite (Fe3+ and Fe2...

A medical follow-up on 11 patients with clinical signs compatible with extra-genital canine venereal transmissible tumor was conducted from June 2003 to August 2009. The canines were evaluated and further medical procedures such as radiographies, ultrasounds, cytology and histopathology were performed to confirm the diagnosis. The nasal tumor was the most common presentation (9/11) and unilateral epistaxis was the most common clinical sign (7). Only one case of bilateral epistaxis was observed. Bloody discharge was the only clinical sign observed in cases where the lesion was located in the uterine stump (1) or anus (1). The clinical signs lasted in average 2.8 months (0.5-12 months). The ultrasound and radiographic procedures were helpful in determining the presentation, location and size of the lesions; the cytology and histopathology showed to be suitable clinical procedures to determ...

The COVID-19, in the scant six months of its presence, has caused a global health crisis, with greater impact in the poorest countries. Currently, there is a better understanding of the clinic of this disease and its relationship with physiopathological phenomena; however, given the high lethality, the major focus of its management has been oriented towards the hospitalized or critical patient. This information and experience is shared in order to achieve and strengthen better care for people affected by COVID-19 from their first symptoms at home, especially at these times of extensive community transmission, where health services are seriously limited in human and material resources. The aim is to (i) avoid complications beyond those caused by the evolution of the disease itself; (ii) determine the appropriate time for patient referral to the hospital ...

The electric transmission system is the infrastructure that allows the transfer of energy from the production points to the consumption centers. It has the characteristic of regulated natural monopoly. For efficiency and economic equity in the electricity market, it is necessary that both the electrical losses and the costs incurred in the transmission process be properly distributed among all the agents that make use of this system. That is why around the world a series of methodologies have been developed that allow the regulators of the electrical system to set the transmission rates that assure their owners to recover the costs incurred in the construction, operation and maintenance and allow the efficient development of the Long-term network. In this context, this article reviews the different methodologies for assigning electrical losses and transmission costs at national and inter...

In this paper we study the mineralogical characterization of the clay fraction of two samples of agricultural soils from Vertisols from the Valle de San Lorenzo, Piura Region, using analytical techniques such as energy dispersion X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray difractometry (XRD) and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy (TMS). Prior to their mineralogical characterization, the samples were subjected to physicochemical analysis such as measuring their pH, removal of organic matter and textural analysis. In this work we have used two samples, which have been referred to as M1 and M2 and drawn two different calicatas at a depth of 50 cm and 150 cm respectively. Mössbauer spectra were taken at room temperature. Analysis of both samples by XRF indicated that both samples have approximately the same concentration of Fe, which was approximately 3,5% and 3,9% for M1 and M2 respectively. It als...

Introduction: The elimination of malaria is the definitive solution to prevent the growing resistance to drugs and insecticides from threatening the progress made since the beginning of the 21st century. Objective: To analyze the spatio-temporal characteristics of malaria transmission in the Loreto region. Methods: We carried out a time series study, and the weekly incidence of malaria in Loreto in the last 20 years (2000-2019) was analyzed using data from the Epidemiological Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health. With this information, we modeled the weekly incidence of malaria across the Loreto surveillance reporting units and determine its spatio-temporal characteristics at the macro and micro-regional levels. Additionally, we characterized the “hot zones” and their stability over time. Results: During the last 20 years, we observed that Loreto has a seasonal malaria trans...

Currently, the use of electric energy is everywhere; however, this normalization has made many people unaware of its origins and the different stages through which this sector and, with special emphasis, the electric power transmission subsector, has gone through. Thus, in this new post-COVID panorama, numerous reforms and state plans on various economic and social areas are placed on the table for the «new normality», of which the electricity sector is viewed with a vital perspective in the present and in the future. Therefore, a historical review and knowledge of its origins is necessary for the configuration of this «new panorama», and in the future, in order to learn from the past so as not to make the same mistakes in the present and in the future. The electricity sector is the cornerstone and deserves more and better research in our country.

In the present paper, a computational model is performed by Cellular Automata (Cell-DEVS) that describes the transmission dynamics of Varicella in a closed group of people where the disease can be spread. From the perspective of mathematical epidemiology we have the mathematical model SEIR of W.O. Kermack and A.G. McKendrick that represent the dynamics of the epidemic, in our case Varicela, where the computational simulations are performed both by the Numerical Methods and the Cellular Automata to analyze the development of the disease.

The COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a new type of coronavirus which has been recently discovered. This virus is spread mainly through droplets of saliva or discharged from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes and this is an alert for all the dentists. For that reason, a relevant research has been done on this matter in order to determine the risk of the saliva of a patient infected with COVID-19 (symptomatic or asymptomatic), as well as its mechanism of transmission and the potential for contagion to which oral health professionals are exposed.

The main objective on this research is the development of finding the optimal parameters for a routing algorithm for network routers based on the ant algorithm described as AntNet. The optimum parameters for this type of algorithm improve a more efficient alternative to those given by the RIP, EIGRP and OSPF routing protocols, to be applied in a data network. This shall be tested in two networks and routers defined, taking the same characteristics for the three groups: RIP, OSPF and by the result provided by the genetic algorithm implemented using a static network. The system recognizes the best path between networks of routers, based on the principle of AntNet networks or networks of ants, which are the best way from exploring almost all roads, using estimergia to go there and make optimal. MatLab was used to detect the best way. Later this road was implemented in a real network data, s...
