It has been studied a sample of the Tuxtuac meteorite, which was classied as an ordinary chondrite. It was applied three analytical techniques. Thus, energy dispersive X-ray uorescence allowed us to identify iron, nickel and cobalt, which form the structure of the kamacite and taenite minerals. Likewise, X-rays diractometry allowed us to recognize the presence of the structural phases of the silicates olivine, pyroxene and orthopyroxene. Furthermore, 57Fe transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy indicated the presence of two magnetic sextets. One was assigned to troilite and the other, to goethite. After the magnetic separation process, this same technique was used to determine more detailed information about the magnetic minerals present in the sample. This resulted in other two magnetic sextets, which were assigned to kamacite and taenite, respectively. Besides, the presence of goethite in...

By using analytical physical techniques, we studied three mineral pieces belonging to the Natural History Museum at the San Marcos National University. Our aim is to get details concerning their elemental and structural composition. Specically, we have utilized techniques such as energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence, X-ray difractometry, and Mössbauer spectroscopy, light optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. We used this last one along with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The obtained results indicate that samples MHN-09 and MHN-11 are impactites. This means that there was a meteorite impact on Huánuco a long time ago. Likewise, we found that sample MHN-03 is magnetic in accordance with the results obtained by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence and Mössbauer spectroscopy.

After fabricating five metallographic specimens of the Cu0.95Al0.05 alloy from electrolytic copper and aluminum, these ones were both microstructurally characterized by using a metallographic optical microscope at room temperature and subjected to mechanical traction in order to chart the stress-strain curve. From the characterization, it has been found out that the Cu0.95Al0.05 microstructure is composed of a single phase, and from the tensile tests, it has been obtained its rupture point, 249.361 MPa. The obtained results were explained in the framework of the theory of metals and metal alloys.

Hematite particles were synthesized by thermal treatment of FeSO4 with different concentrations of sugar. The powder mix of FeSO4 and simple sugar was held at 600 °C for 14 h in a furnace. Using ratios of 1 g and 3 g of FeSO4, to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of simple sugar respectively. The analysis of the macroscopic magnetic properties of the samples was made with an alternating field magnetometer. For the structural characterization of the samples, X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy (TMS) were used. Depending on the concentrations of sugar used, the presence of hematite or butlerite was observed by XRD. The sole presence of the hematite phase was observed when the ratios of 1 g of FeSO4 to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of sugar were used. The hematite phase was not observed for the ratios of 3 g FeSO4 to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of sugar; in these cases the c...

We studied diverse minerals found in the magnetic fraction of clays from medicinal sediments collected in two Peruvian lagoons, La Milagrosa (MML) and La Mellicera (MELL). The clay fraction was separated by the sedimentation method. The analytical physical techniques we used were energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy (TMS). We complemented them with a physical chemical analysis to determine texture, pH and electrical conductivity. We have observed, via XRD, minerals such as illite, calcite and maghemite. Specically, for MML, by XRD we observed two minerals phases: quartz and dolomite. TMS allowed us to observe the magnetic fraction of the sediments. In the spectra we observed four magnetic sextets and three paramagnetic doublets. The sextets were assigned to hematite/goethite, two sites of magnetite (Fe3+ and Fe2...
