The theory that Bohr applied in 1913 to describe the electronic orbitals is extended to the muonic orbitals in a muonic atom. There is a possibility that for nuclides with sufficiently large atomic number, these orbitals occupy the nuclear volume and, therefore, the puntual nuclear model that Bohr utilized is not applicable. In this study, we deduce that for nuclides with Z ≥ 46 the Bohr radius of the first level stay inner of nuclear volume; also, we deduce that the muonic orbitals with bigger order stay out of nuclear volume.

The purpose of this work was to identify and to some extent characterize the main minerals in the clay fractions of soil samples from the Forest Reserve of the Universidad Agraria de la Selva, located in the Region of Huánuco, Peru, with emphasis on the iron oxides and iron-bearing clay minerals, using chemical dissolutive methods, such as dithionite-citrate-bicarbonate, DCB, [1] to dissolve preferentially crystalline iron oxides, and analytical techniques such as X ray diffractometry, XRD, and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy, TMS, at room temperature, RT, and at 110 K was used to determine their mineralogical composition. This paper details the results obtained with two selected samples with contrasting characteristics.

Lepidium meyenii Walp. (Brasicaceae) “maca” is an Andean plant appreciated for its hypocotil which has high medical and nutritional value, and among these, its high iron content. In order to test the possibility of increasing the iron content, an experiment was carried out at greenhouse conditions in Lima, Peru, from May to November 1999, in which solutions containing three levels of natural iron (5, 15 and 25 ppm) were used to grow maca. Seeds of accession ARB5441 (CIP) were used. The iron content was measured after 50 and 179 days of treatment (dat) by the phenantroline method. Meaningful differences were found in the iron content in leaves and the hypocotil after 50 dat, which increased with the concentration of iron in the solutions, whereas at 179 this trend was noticed only for leaves. The concentration of iron in the hypocotil for each treatment do not increase in time whereas...

Hematite particles were synthesized by thermal treatment of FeSO4 with different concentrations of sugar. The powder mix of FeSO4 and simple sugar was held at 600 °C for 14 h in a furnace. Using ratios of 1 g and 3 g of FeSO4, to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of simple sugar respectively. The analysis of the macroscopic magnetic properties of the samples was made with an alternating field magnetometer. For the structural characterization of the samples, X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission Mössbauer spectroscopy (TMS) were used. Depending on the concentrations of sugar used, the presence of hematite or butlerite was observed by XRD. The sole presence of the hematite phase was observed when the ratios of 1 g of FeSO4 to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of sugar were used. The hematite phase was not observed for the ratios of 3 g FeSO4 to 0.1 g, 0.2 g and 0.3 g of sugar; in these cases the  c...
