In manufacturing processes, there are conditions that continually impact decision-making among when choosing among alternatives; the selection is usually influenced by critical aspects such as quality, productivity, costs and customer feedback, among others. This article analyzes different adhesives for the process of gluing parts for sports shoes in a company located in the city of Purisima del Rincon in Guanajuato, México. The analysis employs statistical engineering tools and an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology. The case studied deals with an issue with gluing parts. The glue currently employed is of good quality but has drawbacks such as its high cost and thickness, which leads to a time-consuming manual application, affecting productivity. For decades, synthetic chemists have sought to make industrial-scale catalysts as efficient and exceptionally selective as enzymes are in biological systems but, unfortunately, this task has proven evasive. Efforts then focused on making enzymes useful for the industry, and protein engineering had the task of adapting natural enzymes to work in conditions of industrial-scale processes. The approach called directed evolution is one of the models used to carry this out. Rationality is a theoretical framework to understand that social and economic behavior which contributes to better decisional processes. This role of rationality generates expectations from the stakeholders of the decisional process, one of which is refers to the need of including ethical criteria within the decisional process itself. This essay explores both the concept of rationality, as well as its types, in order to evaluate the extent to which ethical criteria should be part of said process. In doing this, the concepts of minimal instrumental rationality and ethics are analyzed, setting the stage for a discussion of common fields and roles in relation to both available knowledge before the decision-making, and reasoning, derived actions, and consequences. This study contributes to filling the existing gap in the scarce literature on school effectiveness in secondary education in Peru by addressing the following questions: i) which educational processes within schools are most influential in math and reading comprehension? and in the case of the most effective schools, ii) what is the importance that principals, teachers, and students place on school processes variables in explaining educational outcomes? Public health systems have the great challenge of meeting the population's health needs with limited financial resources. Thus, to incorporate new health technologies (HT) in their coverage plans, they use tools that allow them to inform their decisions based on scientific evidence, such as health technology assessments (HTAs). These are developed in a multidisciplinary way, under an explicit methodology, which estimates the value of a technology. Knowledge translation (KT) in Public Health involves the use of scientific evidence by decision makers when generating health policies directed to accelerate the benefits resulting from research and innovation in health system and ultimately people´s health. In this paper we review the definitions and conceptual frameworks related to systematization of KT processes. The different approaches to KT share the concept that KT is composed by two main elements: a product (information) developed through scientific method with a friendly format for the target public and an action devoted to support or promote a health related practice using the aforementioned product. The understanding and application of KT is a key element for effective use of knowledge in decision making.

El presente artículo propone el diseño de un modelo que proporciona una arquitectura genérica que actúa en forma autónoma en los procedimientos de selección en la contratación de obras públicas, generando un criterio de decisión autómata en caso de empate. El Comité de Operaciones Económicas del Sistema Interconectado Nacional (COES) trabaja diariamente con información operativa histórica que es registrada en una base de datos transaccional, para poder analizar los datos obtenidos del Sistema Eléctrico Interconectado Nacional (SEIN) con el fin de sobrellevar un nivel óptimo de la demanda eléctrica. The present article proposes to design a model that provides a generic architecture which acts autonomously in public works contracting selection processes, in order to generate an automated decision criterion in the event of a tie. For the Simplified Tender selection process, in case of a tie, it is proposed to choose the bidder by means of an electronic lottery based on a controlled randomization system of encryption and transformation.
