We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

In Argentina, since March 2020, face-to-face classes have been suspended throughout the country, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the education system had to adapt to the distance education modality, and the universities were not the exception. In that transition, different problems emerged related to the didactics (organization, planning) but above all, access to ICT (New information and communication technology) and transmedia literacy. The ICT mediated education format deepened existing inequalities, that is, the material, social, educational, cultural, and psychological of family conditions. This article proposes a case study of the annual cathedra at the National University of Salta. It systematized the extended classroom experience in a previous pandemic period, where some tools like Classroom, a blog, and a Facebook page were used and later the use of virtual class...

The objective of this investigation is to test the hypothesis of the possible association of one or more microsatellites located on 425-4933 with NSCLP. In this study a sample of 51 extended pedigrees were analyzed. From these pedigrees a sample of 51 caseparents trios was obtained. A novel genetic analysis was carried out using the Extended Transmission Disequilibrium Test (ETDT). Also a case control study was carried out with the 51 probands of the case-parents trios plus a sample of 94 controls of the Chilean population to test if differences were observed resulting from the methods used for the association studies. Microsatellites D4S1570, D4S1615, FGA, UCP1 and D4S1597 located in 4q were analyzed. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used for analysis of DNA. Forward primers were marked with fluorescent-dye-label. Electrophoresis and analyses were carried out in an ABI PRISM 377 ...

We present the case of a male patient with no significant pathological history, who experienced abdominal pain radiating to the genital area. An incidental diagnosis of spontaneous venous thrombosis in the epigastric vein, extending to the scrotal vein, was made via Doppler ultrasound. The patient subsequently required anticoagulant therapy. Thromboembolic disease is a condition associated with cardiovascular complications, and its etiology is multifactorial. Doppler ultrasound was the diagnostic method of choice. This report describes a patientwith no relevant medical history, presenting with nonspecific abdominal pain and findings of thrombosis in the epigastric vein, extending to the scrotal vein. Complementary studies revealed elevated lupus anticoagulant levels, which supports the inclusion of this pathology in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain.

Persistent left superior vena cava is the most frequent congenital venous anomaly, observed in 0.3-0.5% of the general population and in 4-8% of patients with congenital heart disease. The perinatal outcome is significantly worse if it is associated with cardiac defects and the prognosis is excellent in isolated cases. We report a case of persistent left superior vena cava diagnosed in a 30-week fetus in a 21-year-old female patient referred for prenatal fetal echocardiographic evaluation. During the visualization of the three vessels, a supernumerary circular vascular structure was observed to the left of the pulmonary artery, extending into the lateral wall of the left atrium, consistent with persistent left superior vena cava. No other heart abnormalities were found. The pregnancy was uncomplicated and a healthy baby was born full-term without any complications. Postnatal echocardiogr...

The Internet and social networks have become the most attractive and accessible information channel for young people. Objectives. Examine the behavior of university students when facing fake news and their opinion on this phenomenon. Methodology. Semi-open surveys conducted mainly for Journalism students from the University of the Basque Country. In a second phase, the study was extended to students from other areas of knowledge. Results. Online media use is commonplace for university students and a high percentage of them confess to have been fooled by fake news on at least one occasion. Conclusions and discussion. The students consider they have a high rate of alert when facing fake news. There are some differences, according to the area of knowledge, of the subjects that they consider more invaded by the fake news.

Capgras Syndrome is one of the delusional misidentification syndromes, the most frequent in this group. It is characterized by the delusional conviction that one or more known people, pets, or inanimate things have been replaced by someone or something identical, that is considered a substitute or impostor. A few cases have been published about this phenomenon involving animals. The case of a 29-year-old male and a non-systematic review of relevant bibliography are reported. The patient had the diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and was seen in the emergency department of a mental health institution; psychotic symptoms and Capgras delusions related to his pet were evidenced. His clinical course showed a favorable response to an atypical antipsychotic. Different theories that attempt to explain the Capgras Syndrome extended to animals that have emotional and relevant significance for the...

Serous ovarian cystadenoma is a type of tumor derived from the superficial celomic epithelium. Giant ovarian cysts are those that are more than 10 cm in diameter or that extend above the navel. In the literature, some cases of giant ovarian cysts have been mentioned sporadically, especially in postmenopausal patients. Serous tumors are commonly benign in 70-80%, 5-10% have a malignant potential limit, and 20-25% are malignant. Only 10-20% of cases are bilateral. They occur in adults of all ages, with reported mean ages of 40 to 60 years. The case of a 79-year-old postmenopausal woman with a giant left ovarian cyst measuring 14x11x7.5 cm and 794 g of weight containing serous fluid is reported. He came to the clinic for presenting colic-type pelvic pain irradiated to the lumbar region for 4 months with a history of chronic arterial hypertension.. Considering the age and status of men...

In the course of the last century, progress has made regarding the recognition of human rights. However, in most recent decades, the question of whether this recognition of rights should be extended to other living species has arisen. Building on this debate, it is worth wondering whether it would be possible to recognize rights in favor nonhuman animals, in Peru. This article seeks to outline the main advances made in the recognition of animal rights, starting from a historical evolution recount of the recognition of animal welfare since the 17th century, times in which animals were an object of the human environment, until the first decades of the 21st century, where animal interests begin to be legislated. Furthermore, having analyzed the similarities and differences between human beings and animals, this article presents the ...

Simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplantation is the ideal treatment option for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus with chronic renal failure. Restoring insulin independence and avoiding the need for dialysis dramatically improves the quality of life. Also, the return of euglycemia accomplishes progression and even regression of late diabetes complications, extending overall survival in these patients. These benefits outweigh surgery and immune suppression risks inherent to transplantation. Globally, since 1966 when the first pancreas transplant in Minnesota (United States) was conducted there have been more than 20 000 pancreas transplants with increasing success thanks to the refinement in surgical techniques and new immune suppression schemes. In the present clinical case we report and describe the completion of the first simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant in Peru.

Introduction: Splenic echinococcosis is a zoonotic disease accidentally acquired by humans as an intermediate host. Case report: a 26-year-old female patient with abdominal pain located in the left hypochondrium, moderate intensity, calmed with intravenous antispasmodics; a history of long-standing abdominal pain and from the Huancavelica region, Peru, 6 years ago. On clinical examination of the abdomen: hydro-air sounds; present, symmetrical, soft, depressible, painful on palpation in the left hypochondrium, impression of splenomegaly, preserved tympany; the ultrasound mentions a hydatid cyst at the level of the spleen – Gharbi IV; Contrast-enhanced abdominal and pelvic tomography shows a spleen with a heterogeneous cystic lesion, with a partially calcified wall and areas of fatty density that extend to the gastrosplenic ligament, with a diameter of 73 mm x 54 mm; concluding extrahepa...

Risk mitigation in global supply chains has grown in importance in recent years, in tandem with globalization and both the commercial and security threats faced by firms both large and small. This study hypothesizes that a firm’s ability to manage risk strategy— and therefore support its competitiveness—is determined by a symbiotic triad of factors: the resources it utilizes; network systems; and performance criteria it employs. The study, comprising 24 in-depth interviews with electronics and IT firms, examines resource utilization through the Resource-Based View (RBV), assesses firms’ proclivity to engage in networks for risk mitigation and competitiveness; and highlights the importance of performance evaluation as a critically important component in supply chain management. Findings reveal that both buyers and suppliers believe that the symbiotic triad can provide them with a ...

Introduction. Retroperitoneal sarcomas are rare tumors, with a clinical presentation given by poorly specific compression symptoms. Case Report: We report a case of a 69-year-old man with a history of lumbociatalgia and an increase in the volume of the left lower limb until he was unable to wander, he underwent a Contrast Abdominal Tomography where a large tumor dependent on the left iliac psoas muscle was found, that extended to the pelvis, which was biopsied, finding a highly cellular psoas Liposarcoma. Conclusions: Sarcomas are rare tumors originating from the mesequenchymal tissue, the vast majority of them have nonspecific symptoms and signs, being diagnosed late and despite the surgical management of the prognosis is poor.
